Suggestion for the Keep; include video.

So I'm not sure what layout the Keep will have, but I was thinking on a discussion I had a while ago in a thread talking about the Dark Ritual where it was brought up that the further we get from Origins, the less likely it is to have an impact as a greater percentage of the player base will have not played origins and won't have any context on it, so it will lack impact.

My initial, private reaction was, "well you know what? They can watch a damn youtube video." Which go me thinking; why not just include optional gameplay footage videos for some of the bigger choices to help give new players greater context on the choices they're making?

I know they've done similar with the motion comics for ME 2 & 3, but I think actual footage of the decisions(perhaps proceeded by a montage of the events leading up to it) would provide greater context than the VA blandly narrating still images.

Just a thought.

this application is also supposed to be accessible for mobile devices as well.

if you will include video or even a lot of screenshots overall size of this application will also increase.

i really don't have any desire to upload save editor that have a size of several gigabytes be it mobile device or desktop.

the keep will be web based, not an application. So the videos would be streamed meaning you would not have to download them all just to watch 1 or 2 so those fears can be set asside, it's a decent idea, but would add a lot more work for the team, it depends how many resources they have to draw upon.

Wasn't it mentioned, that you can only edit content that you have registered to your profile? So if you don't own a game/expansion/DLC then it won't show up in the Keep edit screen. Or did I just dream all of that?

Anyway, maybe they could provide links to the DA wiki or just add some brief pop-up description of the choice in case a player forgot what it was.

I hope you did dream that, because it would be terrible. Newcomers to the series should still be allowed to experiment with different world-states.

They should, but since they don't know the difference, I don't think it'd make much sense to let them create world states. If anything it'd seem a chore, a couple of preset world states should do the trick for them. Anyway, maybe someone more savvy with forum search can prove me wrong.

Edit: never mind, I looked for it. I was wrong (probably) based on what is said here.

I've actually been assuming that they'd at least have something like the motion comics, since I think they've said something about it being "not just a survey." I don't know if it's cost-effective, but it's definitely something I'd like to see.

I don't know about video, but comics would be a good idea to me. Although hopefully with better art than what Mass Effect Genesis had. Dark Horse butchered poor Wrex.

This would work. It is web based so most of the data will just be extracted from the database. Only tedious work would be displaying the correct video

I would go so far as to call that the worst idea that Bioware has even had, if it wasn't just a figment of your imagination.
