I go onto nexus to download mods for dragon age. I click download with manager. It says web page has expired. I click download manually. It says no file exists for this ID.

I have outlined a few possible problems.

  • The weekend makes it too slow
  • It doesn't work for my country
  • People are taking it down the moment I click download just to spite me

Help? I shall be forever grateful.

BTW. Was shale really intended for the main campaign?

I haven't been able to download anything from there for a while. I'm in the UK.

I'm sure The Stone Prisoner was a free DLC. Could be that Shale was intended for the main campaign but decided to make her a free DLC so they could get away with Return to Ostagar, Leliana's song, etc.

Shale was intended to be in the main campaign and accessible through Wilhelm's Cottage in Recliffe. The cottage is still there (first building on the right as you come to Redcliffe), but you can't enter it.

There is some evidence (a location, two codex entries) visible in the toolset that show thinking along those lines.

The nexus was buggy for me last week. I recently successfully downloaded a mod (JB3 Textures) successfully using the mod manager. You may want to try it again.

Try a different server if you get that message. Worked for me.

Bio's always said that the initial plan was to have Shale join at Redcliffe. Shale wasn't going to make the ship date, therefore DLC.

There are unused dialogue with Ser Perth, which can be viewed in the toolset, that suggests Shale was to help the knights during the attack at nightfall. A script also suggests that activating Shale would have increased the morale of the knights. The absence of this option is probably the reason why the knights' morale can't be raised high even if Ser Perth is provided with the holy amulets; he'll always say something to the effect of "overall my knights are nervous, death is almost certain......".

I would not use ~Nexus~ mod-manager. A lot of people have trouble with it.

The Nexus mod manager? Yeah, I usually advise people to steer clear of that... from what I can tell, it doesn't install manual overrides, it can't deal with .OVERRIDE mods, and if an archive has more than one .DAZIP inside (or optional override files), it doesn't like that, either.

Yes, exactly... So, I don't use it myself since I download all different type mods. Some of them need manual installation and set-up.

Thanks, that is both insightful and helpful.
