Worth checking out of merely another failed attempt at stealing World of Warcraft's crown?

I think the curbstomp it's trying to do to the continuity and lore is pretty bad, but even that's ignorable.

^ I think it's worse.

They downgraded and trivialized Molag Bal into a generic super evil fantasy villain.

The horror. The horror.

You're better off with Elder Scrolls Offline.

After a lot of umming and ahhing I tried it, against my better judgement. Not got any MMO experience to compare it against. Overall opinion so far? It's OK, I suppose.

I'd recommend it if you're craving some MMO but aren't interested in the current ones available. From what I played in the beta (admittedly not much), it's quite a lot like GW2 without some of the major flaws. It beats it hands down for me just because its' combat system doesn't suck ass when it comes to group content.

As for whether it'll be successful or not? I'll be surprised if it doesn't end up with a F2P option by the end of the year. It came out at a great time but people are going to desert in droves when the new WoW expansion comes out, like they always do.

So how does anyone think a Fallout mmo would be handled, after playing ESO?

I'm a huge fan of the Elder Scroll series, I've played all the games EXCEPT Elder Scrolls Online and Daggerfall.

The reason why I have not played Elder Scrolls Online, is because I believe that The Elder Scrolls series should stay as a single-player franchise. I'm not interested in the MMO, so I'm leaving it alone and letting those who want to play the mmo do so.

As for this game attempting to steal WoW's crown, seems like it.

There's been speculation that Beth claimed the Fallout franchise with the intent to create an mmo, and for a short while I think many believed ESO was going to be that Fallout game before it was revealed as an Elder Scrolls game. It wouldn't be the first attempt to make a Fallout MMO.

Anyway, I haven't played an mmo for over a decade now but Fallout is one I might come out from under my SP rock for. I thought ESO might provide the best look at what a Fallout MMO could be like. Since it's Bethesda.

Checked some footage via TetraNinja. It looks and plays how you'd expect TES put in an MMO to be. Was amusing to hear Jennifer Hale again. Not particularly interested, but they seemed to do a well enough job.

Nothing I hadn't seen from WoW - quite a few viewed that game as Non-Canon. If that's true, it's too bad history is repeating itself.

I have no interest in the MMO despite being a huge TES fan. I'm just glad it is released so now hopefully Fallout 4 will get announced soon. BGS is definitely developing it as we speak...100% certain

I've been reading feedback that stealth elements in ESO are almost worthless since there are so many people running around and killing things left and right making it almost impossible to play the game in a covert style, this is a big deal breaker for me as I do enjoy playing the Elder Scrolls from a stealth aspect and there is no point doing that in an open world were people come in and out as they please, or when you are attempting to stealth and someone runs in to mess everything up on purpose leaving you vulnerable.

The PvP is this game's strength

Large Scale pvp

Small Group/solo pvp

If I do get this game I'll spend most of my time in Cyrodill

The game totally doesn't interest me at all.

I did pre-order one of the lithographs from the Bethesda store though because I think its pretty cool.

Yeah got nothing to say about the game. Just I like its art style. Which is totally scaled back in an MMO.  Shame really

There are definitely too many people around, crowds around a quest-related NPC out in the wilderness look a bit strange. More, smaller servers with fewer people on each would've been a better move IMO.
