If not in general then in the Inquisition

There was an Inquisition. It fought mages/demons/etc.

I think it died out. Not too familiar on my lore there.

But this is a new Inquisition. It may or may not start off with the implication that it will at least contain mages/demons (as a main story-line), but you'll otherwise direct it in the direction you want.

The Inquisition concept is not new, timeline wise.

THIS Inquisition is totally new. I'm not sure whether you found it, are part of founding it, or join it soon after it is founded.

Eeeeh that's kind of the same to me, besides the way you get into to the order. You were a fresh face with powers and people looking up to you in Origins, too.

Idk, we shall see

A few important figures looking up to you is not the same as whole nations knowing you, having respect for you, and the land itself being changed by your strategic choices.

It's Origins-like in ways, but quite the evolution. You're Alistair(King)/Loghain now, not a 'random' Warden. You'll be ruling, not just adventuring. But you'll also be adventuring too, given the chaos that's going on and your special powers :)

The first Inquisition joined the Chantry as the Templar Order and the Seekers of Truth, hence them having half of the Inquisitor symbol for theirs.

Yeah, the Inquisition didn't so much die out as basically dividing into the Templars and the Seekers, the former being in charge of Mages and the latter remaining as the Internal Affairs section of the Chantry.

(Although some of the lore suggests that "The Inquisition" name started as derogatory nickname for the Seekers themselves and was applied retroactively as the name for the earlier organisation before the split, it's a bit iffy on the subject.)

Rather than being a recombination of the two, the new Inquisition is a completely separate entity not affiliated with the Chantry or Templars, although from Cassandra's presence I suspect that they might have some Seeker involvement, at least early on. I wouldn't be surprised if the Seekers weren't the ones who felt that a new organisation was needed, even for them, since they'd clearly not been doing their jobs well enough.

I'm probably wrong, but ever since Inquisition was announced and details were given, I haven't been able to shake off the impression that Hawke was originally intended to be the Inquisitor but backlash against 'em after DA2 made Bioware go "Nah, let's have it be a new character." He/she was called 'the most important person in Thedas' and unless Hawke set off some eldritch level Rube Goldberg machine of Flemeth that will result in the change coming to the world, I don't see that.

What is particularly confusing?

-There was an Inquisition

-This is the new one

-You'll be placed into a leadership of it

-To establish an order over a Thedas that is falling into chaos, as opposed to the Warden temporarily uniting factions to stave off the Darkspawn

We are the first Inquisitor of this Inquisition, as far as we know so far.

While I don't think they were meant to be the Inquisitor, I can see Hawke having become more important in Exalted Marches, another reason why it's a shame that expansion was pulled and the plot shelved for inclusion in Inquisition.

Rather than be DA3, Inqusition was originally meant to be DA2, according to what the devs have said. The second game was concieved as a side-quel taking place in the interbellum period between Origins and the Mage-Templar war, much like how in the Assassin's Creed franchise for example, Brotherhood and Revelations were both sequels of AC2, but weren't marketed as AC3 and 4. It was EA apparently wanting to market DA2 as the direct sequel to Origins that is how we got that title, yet another thing that we can thank them for sticking their nose in and interfering with...

The inquisitor is the only one who survived the fade tear opening, so there's also that qualification to make them the head of the inquisition.

That would be very dumb why?

1.Cassandra saw hawke as villain and someone who deliberately started war to overthrow chantry so he was in their eyes evil mastermind not to mention that hawke could be pro-mage.So why hire guy with contrary goal?

2.Warden could kill leliana and destroy most holly for chantry relict so well why don't hire guy who killed you and destroyed ashes?

Considering how canon can be a bit... 'forced' (Leliana? You're even alive?), it still could be them wanting the Hero/Champion to at least join them. "Hey you have experience, we need experience."

But that's just a guess though. This thread has me interested in what's going on :)

You mean  "hey Ben i know that you started 3 world war just to destroy entire world because you hate it ,but i think hiring you would be great idea as want save world."

I know this is dragon age and after da 2 possible levels of stupidity was significantly increased but i hope it will decrease in third game.
