Yet we've seen no character art of him, have no confirmation that he's even definitely in the game at this point. Which we have both for Cullen, as well as a confirmation that he'll be a major romance-able character.

Again, I don't necessarily disagree with you. Cole is still an excellent candidate for a party rogue. I just don't see any reason to dismiss things as ludicrous when there's no practical reason it couldn't be true, and have no evidence disproving it.

Are you saying Cullen might fill the third rogue slot?

I don't see any entitlement here at all. And in fact, MY nipples are getting pretty twisted by all the claims about wishful thinking, "ludicrous" speculation and the like re: Cullen.
If someone is hopeful for something that you do not want or are indifferent to, why is it so difficult for you to ignore it? Why do you feel compelled to prove them wrong?

Cullen better be a companion.

Entitlement.

Damnit, now I want Puff the Magic Dragon as the third rogue.

I would mark out for a Puff appearance.

Fridge brilliance; Cole's invisible. He's in all the concept art.

I definitely think it's not impossible, though I don't consider it the most likely scenario. Read page 6 of this thread for more info.

Because if people get way too excited now on the basis of flimsy, exaggerated or flat out wrong evidence, and then go nuts in two or three months if we find out Cullen isn't a companion, this whole forum is going to have to deal with a backlash that could've been prevented if people were more realistic, and less willing to invent ever-more intricate theories to suit their purposes.

Thanks for your concern, but I'm a big girl. I can handle disappointment, and I'm prepared for any of the possible outcomes. ;)
It isn't your job to police the fan base and prevent forum backlash, BTW. I'd even venture as far as saying it's... ludicrous to expect to have any impact at all!

To be fair, there were some posts earlier who were making some over the top declarations about how Cullen had to be a companion, but I really think based on the totality of what I've seen that those people are a minority of Cullen's fanbase. As with any group, there are bound to be some on the fringe.

You're one person, though. Cullen's fans are legion and I'm sure a fair few people won't take the news well if he's not a companion.

I'm just wary of unrealistic expectations, and I think it's very unfortunate when people get invested in an outcome to the point that they start to filter evidence in ways that support it.

I would seriously love it if this is the truth and at some point Bioware's concept artists decided that he'd just be invisible, everywhere.

I suspect that, somehow, the forum will survive the frenzied disappointment of the one or two people in this thread who have expressed outrage if Cullen is not a companion.

With Cullen's popularity it would actually be fanservice to include him as a companion. If he's not the disappointment will be palpable.

Bioware are going all out with this game, and seem to be doing a good job of pleasing most people. Even if Cullen isn't a party member I'm sure he'll have a significant role.

Honestly, I feel like most fangirls would be depressed versus angry. At least, I would be.

Still, until they confirm Cullen isn't a companion, we're allowed a bit of hope.

Agreed. I think *most* of the people who want Cullen to be a companion are already coming around to the idea that he could end up as just an NPC. But until anything we know for a fact that he's not a companion, it doesn't hurt to hold onto that bit of hope. I'll certainly be disappointed if he's not a companion, but I'm not going to throw a fit on the forums about it. I think most people will feel the same way and contain it to the Cullen threads.

Opinion and one I feel very strongly about in fact, it's funny how cullen supporters are always singled-out but those who oppose are far more vocal about their dislike of that.

I like Cullen and so do many others you will all just have to deal.

is there any chance of a nonhumanoid companion like Shale to be in the game?

did the devs confirm Sera to be a ranged tipe roge?....if yes could the 3rd please be a dualweild char

In the 30 min gameplay vid Cassandra is a S&S warrior but in the pics she has just a sword...do companions have a dual spec at first and you go from there?

Even Eurogamer got caught up in the Cullen hype because they actually confirmed him as a love interest - based on LadyInsanity's report.

Cullens story is just so fascination I mean he was there for like the worst of mages/template conflicts.

He's truly seen both bad and good.

They would never scrap companions this late. Never. If he's in the game and concept art, then it's several years too late to ever think about changing the party roster.

(And why is he the only one that people are constantly thinking might have been scrapped? Is it because his status as a companion would mean Cullen is out?)

Sera has been confirmed independently by at least 2 magazine previews, (but their factual accuracy has been admittedly dodgy) and described as using a bow. You can respec companions to do whatever their class is capable of.

I doubt this would still be a decent amount of time to remove and then introduce a new companion. I'm not saying it's impossible, but very unlikely.

I've never been for or against Cullen, but there isn't much to say he is a companion, other than being confirmed as a love interest (which, as people have already pointed out, may be available to NPCs ala Mass Effect). I'd personally rather have the Warden as the warrior.

There's actually more evidence for Cole being a rogue than Cullen - the survey calls Cole a rogue and we know he's both stealthy and used daggers.

If we're looking at potential people to fill the third rogue spot, Cullen isn't even at the top of that list.

Feathers was shown briefly, Sera has popped up in rumors in magazines every time.

If there is enough further confirmation will move him to the slot. There is still a lot debatable. All of his features occurred 9+ months ago, and he could be a temp companion, we just don't know. If he's shown again, I'll move him to probable unless he's confirmed.

There are no concept arts of Cole, that's what the "?"s are for: Unknowns/Unshowns

Even if it were announced that Cullen wasn't a companion, they shouldn't let that disappoint them, Technically a character doesn't have to be a companion to have a fairly significant role.  Joker, Traynor, or Cortez from the Mass Effect series would be examples of this.

Cullen even if not a companion could end up as one of the rumored advisors for the Inquisition, or perhaps the seneschal for your castle.

He's a companion who follows your party around on every mission, but sense he's invisible and you can't hear him, you will never know he was there.... even during romance scenes....

The concept art he's been in is much more recent than that, though.

And devs like Sheryl Chee have been happy to joke about the character (I am guessing she wrote the Warden), which would make no sense if he was already scrapped.
