I always thought the bearded Warden was pretty much confirmed from what we've seen... could be wrong though.
Don't really care about Cullen, but if he has an interesting part, then why not?
Also my OCD is kicking in and I don't mean to be anal about it, but... isn't it spelled Rogue instead of Rouge?

Agreed completely. Really, we just need confirmation on the Grey Warden and DHMG and then we'll only need to find out who the mysterious last rogue is going to be.

Also agreed. This seems likely given the speculation of the three political entities each with an advisor that are based out your keep.
He's not confirmed yet. He has been seen in some game footage early on. But they have recently implied that there was a Companion that was going to be part of a DLC that had already been written who has been dropped because of the backlash to paying again for content already shipped with the disc. I think it was a DG comment that was re-posted on the twitter thread.
Now I'm not saying this is or is not the Grey Warden but just because he has been seen does not make certain he will be in the game. I'm just speculating on why the information on him has gone cold.
Now I'm not saying this because I want Cullen. As I have stated before I am very anti-Templar, so Cullen is the last character I want. I wont whine if he is a companion though, after all we only need three companions to play the game I can always just ignore him. In fact he will be easier to ignore as a Companion than he would be as a NPC.
To me, there is a huge difference between a character who was "written" as the DLC character and a character who we've seen in pre-alpha gameplay in the Inquisitor's party. If they had the DLC character written and already developed in the game, why wouldn't they just incorporate them into the vanilla game instead of scrapping them altogether. That would have been like deciding a few months before ME 3 was released that they didn't want to charge us for Javik so they just scrapped him instead of just opening up the files for him to be included in the regular game. Doesn't make any sense to me.
The info on the Grey Warden hasn't "gone cold" any more than any of the other characters who are still being speculated. The character who has seem to have "gone cold" is Cole. We know at one point that he was being considered as a party member, but we haven't seen anything about him since and that was two years ago. If anyone is our "originally a DLC, but cut" character, I'd place my money on him. The Grey Warden is really likely to be in. I couldn't imagine what would lead them to scrap him at such a late stage in development.
The only thing I've heard regarding DLC characters is that they aren't doing them this time around, and that the "paying for content that's already on the disk" mentality the fans have is a factor as to why.
Nothing I've hear suggested they had a character planned for DLC that got scrapped, but I could be uninformed.

That has never been said or otherwise implied. There was a (clearly) facetious comment made about removing things that were already in game and someone (I'm not going to name names but he knows who he is), unable to distinguish between fact and hypotheticals, took this as gospel and went on an insane rant about how that an entire character had been removed and now Cullen must be a companion. In fact it was the whole brouhaha over misinformation like this that got the twitter thread unstickied in the first place.
So no, there has been no implication or otherwise that anything like that has happened.
I'm holding out hope that the last rogue is "The Dark Wolf" from Dragon Age Awakening. He was awsome, mysterious and he had a spy-type nature, which would make him perfect for the Inquisitor's party. At the very least, he should be an agent.
However, what's likely is that Grey Warden has been changed to a rogue (easy enough to do) and Cullen will be the third warrior. Also hopefully DHMG is a Tivinter Magister and is the last mage. Just my thoughts on the matter.

The Dark Wolf can be killed in Awakening and his a very small minor character anyway, so I really doubt they're bringing him back of all people.
At this point I'm content with waiting and seeing until the game comes out. I'm confident enough that Cullen won't be a companion, but if I'm wrong, I'll cop to it when the time comes.
Why would the Warden's class be changed?
The developers would have known about Cullen's involvement since the game was in its planning stages. He was doing voice acting for Inquisition years ago. If he had a place on the team, it would've been decided back then. *Whatever* his role is, it would've been decided back then.
How is it at all likely that they went through and made a team of three warriors, then changed one of them to a rogue to accommodate a character they already knew would be in the game? And why the Warden? And when was this done, since he was clearly a warrior last year?
A lot of these theories rely on the entire party moving around and changing to accommodate Cullen, and not really for any other reason that makes sense - and that's a bit hard to believe, for me.
You've been around here long enough to know how rampant speculation goes. xDD
None of it ever makes sense. lol
We're in the stage of small snippets of information are being released so everyone must go wild with their theories.
As for companions, there's a good chance that some people we have heard of are not in our party. We will have to deal with various factions, so I am positive that we'll have to interact with leaders/prominent members and possibly deal with them often enough that some of them might be love interests. *cough*Cullen*cough*
He hasn't been officially confirmed yet, but we've seen a brief glimpse of him in a gameplay vid as one of the Inquisitor's companions. Considering that and the fact that he appears in lots of concept art with the Inquisitor, it would be more surprising if he turned out not to be a companion.
He certainly seems far more likely to be the final warrior companion than Cullen.
You may be right, but my thought is any of the so called "advisors" - be it a Templar, a Grey Warden, a spy, a resources guru - could be a temporary companion. For example, Cullen and the Inquistor do a side quest together to get intell from the Templars - or the mysterious Grey Warden guy and the Inquistors go to the deep roads to find some sort of important artifact - again as some kind of side quest. We only know of a few confirmed companions. The fact the Cullen is seen in concept art or the Warden in gameplay means nothing to me at this point... just that they will likely both play a role in the game.
I have said this previously - I can't see any reason that Cullen would be a NCP in a third game - so I am assuming he is a companion.
http://forum.bioware...ead/?p=16424110That's the comment that I'm talking about added together with ML's comment at PAX east that there would be no DLC companions.

That's kinda how I see it if Cullen isn't a companion, that he'll join us one a mission from time to time
I genuinely don't mean to be snarky here but I can't see how this tells us anything about cutting a DLC companion, or how this is even related to the idea that there'll be no DLC characters.
Are people assuming that the decision to have no DLC companions was made last week, or something? For all we know it was done three years ago.

I was unaware that that could happen. Hmmm, implication unfortunate. You're probably right in that regard, still, I can hope.

I'm just trying to make the pieces fit. The Grey Warden is mostly confirmed, and would be a logical choice as a party member( Bringing a person of the GW camp into the team to bring that perspective) but Cullen's voice actor gave a tweet saying he was a companion and LI. Cullen was a warrior in the previous two games. Perhaps Mr. Ellis got confused and Cullen is simply an important NPC and not a companion, that would make sense.
Just for clarification, did were here the 3/3/3 party split from the Devs themselves or from one of the gaming magazines? Because a lot of info from the magazines has been wrong and I just wanted to ensure this class ratio is correct, because if it's not than both GW and Cullen could be party memebers and warriors without problem. Note, I haven't seen any footage from PAX East, so if that's where it was revealed I would have missed it.
EDIT-Re-read the OP more closely and realized it was at PAX where the Devs gave 3/3/3 ratio, my mistake, it is totally confirmed. WIth so much falty info flying around I wanted to be sure.
Cullen's VA doesn't know what companion is in a DA context and retracted his tweet when he realized it. So I'm betting he's an off-party LI, like Sam or Steve.
Thank you for that clarification. ![]()

To be fair, he said companionship which doesn't automatically mean companion
