Like in LOTR:War in the North for example.(Goblin Sappers)

I doubt it, since that's a rather disturbing subject matter even in real-life.
The only groups I could see using it are Darkspawn or Red Templars once you've gotten their health below a certain point, as both have been driven so insane by the Taint or Red Lyrium that launching a kamikaze run against the Inquisitor to take you down with them seems in-character. Since Origins showed Demons exploding once you'd killed them, I could possibly see them using it as a last resort as well.
Aside from that, I'd find it hard to justify having it in the game, nor would I really want to see it.
Even using Walking Bomb as a Mage sometimes makes me wonder how much of a hero that really makes Hawke or the Warden?

I'm pretty sure blood magic is DA's version of "messed up things that underprivileged groups do to win asymmetrical wars," so I highly doubt that we'll see anything like suicide bombers. In addition to being more politically charged than the writers would probably like, suicide bombing would also be redundant.

It'd provide a challenge...
I could see Darkspawn or Demons using this sort of method.

I could see Tevinter pulling some tactics like that. I.E. sending in slaves and then casting walking bomb on them. Awful yes, but then again Tevinter is awful.

Why are people taking this with a political slant when "suicide bombers" are a fairly common enemy type in video games?

I guess because 'suicide' and 'bombers' are very loaded terms. Perhaps they'll think of a new way of phrasing ![]()
How big will the scale of the damage be? I think something like the abominations in ME3 would be good.

A demon enemy that was like the abominations from Mass Effect would be interesting.
Priority enemies.

They should yell a warning like "Pearl Harbor" or some other signals when they're about to explode, so you know before hand. I hate when enemies just explode for no reason.

They have Hobbes in Fable that do this as well.

Given that NPC opponents always fight to the death, even when their defeat is assured, how are they not already like suicide bombers?

Didn't DAO abominations "self destruct" and explode when they were killed as well?
Yep. That's one reason why like half of my DA:O playthroughs ended at the Circle Tower: because I decided "forget this crap" after dealing with eleventy billion fire explosions of doom.
Given that NPC opponents always fight to the death, even when their defeat is assured, how are they not already like suicide bombers?
I think that the OP was going for some form of area-effect damage an enemy deals on death, instead of a classification that could accurately describe virtually anybody who has ever died in a war.

Sure, if you were fighting a crazy cult and they zerg rushed you with magic bombs or something.
But other than that, it wouldn't make much sense.
I doubt it, since that's a rather disturbing subject matter even in real-life.
That didn't stop Dead Space 3 from introducing Suicide Bombers from a crazy cult.

LONG LIVE THE EMPEROR! BANZAI BANZAI!
FOR THE EMPIRE!
...I can't see the soldiers of any Empire in DA doing this... ![]()

^ That's what I was thinking. Or, following something like the tactics AI, they would cast it on any allied mook that is near death and close to any of the player's party members.

Dragon Age is marketed as Dark Fantasy yes? Then it should be exploring the more disturbing aspects of life.

Everyone's dying. Instead of suicide I think we should just call it expedited mortality. Anyway, it's kind of a cheap trick in enemy design. It's too easy to make a difficult encounter when you start tossing in combatants with no sense of self preservation. Even drones at cost a few hundred G's. (Hardyhar political jokes)

They should get at least a few virgins for their sacrifice. If not 72...maybe 60, or like 55. 55 will do.

I can think of at least four games that featured suicide bombers that nobody made a fuss about.
It's not that politically charged.

Caster: Health(self/friendly) below # -> cast(self/friendly) Walking Bomb.
Target(self[caster]/friendly): Walking Bomb active -> rush to the closest/farthest/lowest or highest health/other party member.
Knockdown for # time + AOE damage(+friendly fire) + (?) various side effects[Walking Bomb upgrades](freeze -> freezing/slowing affected targets with # ice damage for # time, fire -> burning affected targets with # fire damage for # time , others?)

Speaking of Walking Bomb, I'd say the Mabari makes for the best suicide bomber. Why waste a mage when you have a perfectly good and loyal Mabari to do the job?
