Recently bought the trilogy for $30 new, and paid the $7 total for the Pinnacle Station & BDtS DLC for Mass Effect 1.

Awesome game, really excited to start 2.

However, I'm noticing a ridiculous amount of DLC not included with ME2, and a ton of it seems to be important story parts and not just extra armor/junk.

I see that Lair of the Shadow Broker, Overlord, Kasumi, and Arrival are all missions, but the total price is a ridiculous ~$24 for DLC, for 1 GAME, when the whole trilogy was only $30.

Rant aside, anyone have tips on how to affordably buy all the DLC? I'd be fine paying around $10 for all the ME2 DLC, but I'm not sinking a dollar into Mass Effect DLC anymore until it gets some sort of sale or nice bundle price. This nickle and diming is assinine.

Just wait until you guys get to ME3. Enormous amount of DLC, probably $40 worth, just for ME3. But some of it is pretty sweet - Citadel etc.

Unfortunately with this trilogy if you want the full, full experience you're gonna have to throw some cash down.

I own all the novels and ALL the comics. Probably $60 worth of comics ALONE. And a lot of them are really cool and give awesome background and insight into really interesting characters. Especially going from ME1 into ME2, and then the stuff after ME3. Actually the Arrival DLC which is the transition from 2 into 3 is also pretty awesome.

All in all, comics, games, and novels (and even a rental fee for that movie!) this series is going to cost me, and this might be hard to believe, but upwards of $300. $60 each for 2 and 3 brand new (bought on release date), $10 for ME1 (I'm on PS3), $70 for comics, $18 for novels ($6 times 4 novels), and probably $80 for DLC between all of them.

Crazy right? I'm a massive fan and I've never ever spent so much on a game series, or ANY series, ever. People don't realize how expansive and deep the ME universe is sometimes. It only gets better after the first one, deeper into each topic and broader in scope. And it only ever gets more interesting (for me at least lol).

So if you think you're getting bilked because you have to spend $30 on DLC, consider yourself lucky you weren't the enormous fan I was at the time the games were released. I've probably dropped close to $350 on Mass Effect. What is $3 for some DLC?

Forgot to mention the comics are by Dark Horse comics, it's not just some janky-ass comic series. And you can oder all the comics digitally. I read all of them on my iPhone or on my macbook. Makes it addicting when theres always another one for another $3. It's like crack for ME fans.

I respect you. I am like this for Star Wars :P

I can empathize with this general sentiment, I'm a massive Sci-Fi fan as well. I came over to the Mass Effect Trilogy after beating every Halo game on legendary, tearing through the multiplayer, and reading nearly every book (not to mention all the time I've poured into Star Wars, Star Trek, and BSG in my life).

However, all of the attached DLC with Halo thus far is either weapons/armor skin, or multiplayer maps. I'm not aware of any DLC in the Halo series that contains stories that should be a part of the campaign. I realize comparing an FPS arena-shooter to a more RPG is apples to oranges, since most people buy ME for the campaign/story and most buy halo for the multiplayer experience (thus where they sink their DLC in), but I'm not a fan of these gaming companies carving up parts of the game to make disproportionately expensive DLC to pad profits.

I did buy Pinnacle Station ($1) and Bring Down the Sky ($5 I think) in ME1, but the expanded story-specific DLC gets to be far too expensive relative to the game.
It's now $24 for just the mission/assignment specific ME2 DLC, of which (from what I've read) seem to be core parts of Mass Effect storyline, whereas the ENTIRE trilogy is $30. I know I'm probably beating a dead horse on these forums, but Bioware/EA really needs to readjust their DLC prices to proportionately reflect the drop in price of the other games. I'd consider the DLC for ME2 and ME3 if prices dropped and/or were bundled, but I'm not interested in dropping over $65 for a few hours of unique gaming experience when the $30 trilogy alone can account for hundreds of hours of unique gaming (i.e., even just playing through every mission & assignment once at a hard difficulty).

How much was the DLC when it did go on sale? I'm wondering if there are any cost-affordable ways to obtain the DLC for Xbox 360.

Yeah I don't know why it's still so expensive, especially since the DLC for Mass Effect adds a lot for all three games. Some of the new ME3 DLC is killer.

Its been so long since Bioware points have gone on sale, I think Bioware has genuinely forgotten about marketing them or promotional sales. I think they are just there, collecting dust. It has been like 3-4 years since Bioware has put Points on sale.

That is maybe the polite or optimistic guess, if I were more cynical, I'd say it is because Bioware doesn't care about marketing or promotion of their points because they are just trying to get as much money out of them as possible.

Cmon Bioware, lets go, its been years, lets see some Bioware points sales, or put the DLC on sale so buying the points gets us more DLC. But don't just leave 3-5 year old DLC on the market for full price, that is just obnoxious.

Put another way, in terms of business practice that (I assume) Bioware/EA/Xbox understands:

If a number of Xbox players only recently got into the Mass Effect trilogy after ALL THREE games cost $30, why would they assume that these same players will suddenly change their purchasing habits and stop being frugal?
It's an old set of games, with old DLC. People that would have purchased the games & DLC at/near full price have long since purchased the games, I HAVE to believe they can boost sales by marking down their DLC - as they did with the trilogy package.
Plus, gestures like this helps to create customer loyalty.

My frustrations with the sheer amount of mission specific DLC that is still at full price makes me really not interested in buying the new Mass Effect 4 game once it comes out. A $40-60 game is hard to stomach, but adding 3-4 essential DLC packages each costing $7-10 is far too much for many gamers to afford. . . it's one reason I've always been 1-2 years behind the new games (which I'm fine with). But chasing Bioware games and their DLC specifically is the first time I'm utterly failing to find old products that approach any level of market competitiveness with other games.

If they are going to sell a bundle called Mass Effect Trilogy It should include all the DLC as well.

But then Bioware are a bad for this, they basically invented nickle and diming you for DLC. Neverwinter Nights had a Silver, Gold and Platinum edition (and I'm prety sure a GoTY as well), none of which included all the DLC. And that extra DLC was unavalable for a long time after they closed the old store.  You can get it now, if you buy the Platinum edition from GoG they throw it it in.

But to get back to my original point, don't expect to see the DLC bundled with the games for a loong time, if ever. But I don't quite understand why its's not on Origin as well as the Bioware store. You just know EA are going to close the store sooner or later, just like they closed the old store.

I already own the games, I want to see the DLC bundled together as a single DLC purchase or each individual DLC go on sale again, for say, half off.

It makes no sense to target a frugal gaming demographic by offering the whole trilogy for $30, but then keeping the individual DLCs at full price.

Mark them down proportionally. I'd buy Overlord/Arrival/Kasumi/LotSB for half off, but I'm not buying a SINGLE dlc unit until they all go on sale. I'm getting close to finishing my first time through ME2, I can't decide whether to get to immediately before the IFF and then wait until DLC comes out to play Overlord and Kasumi, then IFF-->SM, then LotSB & Arrival; or conversely, just play through the game and move on.

As it stands now, it would cost me $31 for the mission-specific DLC for ME2. That is absurd given the fact that the whole trilogy only costs $30 in sum.

I realize I'm a broken record on this thread, but wow, EA / Bioware need to get a clue here.

PS3 version of ME2 has all DLC up to Arrival included and costs between 10-20 dollars, depending where you look.

I'd also like to see the DLCs become cheaper, at least for Mass Effect 2, which is 3 years old now. It's sad that it's cheaper to buy a new ME3 than to buy the Kasumi DLC for ME2 for instance.

Secondly, when I buy a DLC I want to have access to it on all available platforms. I hate it that you have to buy it twice if you want to play it on PC and on Xbox.

I was currently thinking of buying all the DLC's for Mass Effect 1,2 & 3 when I get paid in September but after seeing it will cost me in excess of £70 (Because I live in the UK) for the Xbox 360 versions I've changed my mind. I've completed all 3 games and played a lot of Multi-player on ME3 but recently decided to complete all the games again but with all the DLC's on each game although the price is a huge stumbling block (especially for quite old games) so I've decided not to play them until they bring them down in price or maybe make a bundle for all the dlc's (something like half price for each add-on) as I really want to play the added content seen as it's my favorite game series. I implore Bioware to please consider this as it will rekindle everyone's love for the games and will also give people something to enjoy while they wait for the release of ME4 ( or whatever the title may be :D) I hope everyone agrees with me so this may become a possibility.

It is strange after all this time they never released a ME2 Ultimate Edition like they did for DAO. It would likely spike sales EA/Bioware, do it along with a UE ME3 around the time ME:N is announced. Seems a no-brainer to me.

Mass Effect is the only video game series that's actually worth a damn. I've played all the others & they're only good to go through once or twice. I'm giving up video games, not upgrading to next gen. I'm retiring from gaming. Been gaming since Pong, the Atari 2600 & Intellivision. Gaming is a complete waste of time, burns too many hours with nothing to show for it. But I'm STILL playing Mass Effect, not tired of it yet. Mass Effect is in a league of it's own. Still finding new stuff & new conversation variations. Still hearing & seeing stuff I've never heard or seen before.

Its about time they released a definitive edition of this game with all the DLC.  Even the franchise pack on Origin contains hardly any of the DLC which makes it an absolute ripoff.

Well, I've just started to go through the ME trilogy again on PC this time around (after the xmas sales), and I wasn't that fussed about the dlc in ME1 but looking up the prices for #2, it just beggars belief. Not only is the whole process for purchasing the dlc seemingly unnecessarily convoluted, but for a game that's been out for this long, leaving the prices unchanged is a huge turn-off.

As it is, there hasn't been any official communique left in this thread, or any indication over the years that anything will change. Indeed, I can't help but get the impression that if anyone from Bioware reads or has read this, they'd laugh, and keep laughing all the way to the bank. The number of articles/threads I've found regarding cheaper dlc prices, or asking for links to pirated copies, says it all...
