Mage pc, Vivienne, Solas, and the other mage who ever that is. All specced for everything. Don't need muggles in my party.

I'd love that, believe me, I'm all about the Mages.
but with the new changes in combat and strategy, it's not the wisest party choice.
Unless they're all super-mages. Then it is okay.
- PC Warrior or Rogue DPS.
- Cassandra
- Dorian/Vivienne (Depends who I'll like more)
- Grey Warden/Sera (Depends on my class and who I'll like best)
Not sure yet if I'll use Varric. I love the guy alot, but I already used him so many times in DA 2 soo ![]()
Only problem I have is all the chests I won't be able to open.
What, that we can cripple their body parts? We have no idea if mages do or do not have abilities that can do that. My first guess would be that they can since dragons tend to be weak towards ice and we all know mages have plenty of ice attacks. Point being: might want to wait until we have the full run down of class abilities and trees before we start calling particular class set ups as non viable.
After watching the Game Informer video, I disagree.
You can, but I'm not.
Na, mages fight in all ranges, can buff and debuff, can heal each other, have cc, no way a full party of mages can go wrong, they are the most versatile class.
Yet those pesky chests still manage to evade them ![]()

We'll more than likely only have 1 healer companion like the last game, and I'm sure the cooldown has been altered as well.
Not at all, slap a few mage shields on, some rock armor, some debuffs, plus heals, plus life drain, you can soak up tons.
and with all that, how much mana will you have left for actual combative spells? the fatigue will be more of an impact in this game so it's not like you can just stick them in chainmail without consequence.
Considering how we can change the weapon types for warriors and rogues now, I imagine more skill trees will be open for all mages as well. Hopefully at the very least, two of them will be possible healers.

You mean Mages can tank? ![]()
BLASPHEMY! ![]()
Those should be smashable with a chance to brake items inside, but I don't care much.
Agreed, that would be a nice feature to implement. Although there is something comforting about have one of each class in the party.
I tend to choose characters rather than classes though.

BLASPHEMY!
I tanked most of a DA2 play through with Merril so yeah it's more than viable.

I don't think it makes sense to not have at least a tank. I think you're leaving your mages pretty vulnerable without one.
Like the OP, I want my first team to be
-Iron Bull
-Beard Warden
-Varric
I've said this like 10355356 to the eighteenth power times but I'll say it again. Their personalities just meld well together in my head. I'll be playing an elf mage lady.
For a followup playthrough as a dwarf warrior, I'll probably take
-Sera
-Vivienne
-Cassandra
Unless, of course, one of the companions we don't know about blows me away and I just have to go "WOW, totally taking that guy."
I have 4 mages, that's a lot of mana combined.
Not when they're wasting it on all of those buffs just to make it through one area.

DA][ was a lot easier than what this will be...

Tanks are pretty worthless in DA games from my experience. Instead of a tank, all you need is really good CC and damage absorb abilities.

But your assuming the gameplay will be like it was before when it has been said time and again that it won't be ![]()
Mustache man - Don't know much about him, he's a mage and he isn't bald. Close enough.
Cassandra - Her/His androgynous nature will boost morale as team members try to figure out exactly what she/he is.
Varric - "Just like old times eh Shepard Hawke Inquisitor? ......Wait a minute!"
DA][ was a lot easier than what this will be...
And I have yet to see sufficient evidence of what you're claiming. Developers always say: "you'll want x y and z in your party." However in reality, players who know how to properly min max their companions need no such setup. I doubt DA:I is going to be so different simply because of limited potions and non regenerating health.
Enough for every instance. Mana regens after each fight. Not when they're wasting it on all of those buffs just to make it through one area.

Dragon Age 2 was like a hack and slash, it wasn't that hard to get by lol
