Dragon Age 2 was like a hack and slash, it wasn't that hard to get by lol

It was nothing like a hack and slash despite what people who love to jump on that bandwagon claim.  I didn't even need a warrior in DA:O so I don't know why you're trying to single out DA2.  The animations were faster and the only argument one would have in favor of this is that console versions didn't have an auto attack feature which was later patched.  It was just like DA:O only with realistic hit boxes and faster animations.

Enough for every instance. Mana regens after each fight.

Then again you can probably blow up 80% enemies straight of the bat with 4 mages.

I hope spirit bomb is back, easily one of my favourite mage abilities for clearing low level enemies.

I'm not jumping on a bandwagon I'm just telling you my opinion which is much different than yours, all I'm saying is I think you'll be very disappointed in DA:I with that mentality.

and with that said, I'm off to go enjoy my Easter but if you'd like to continue you this my inbox is always open.

Opinions are derived from factual evidence regarding the topic at hand.  You haven't presented any other than mentioning the GI video and seeing as how the game isn't out yet nor have they even revealed any detailed information on combat abilities; this conversation is pointless.  Enjoy your holiday.

Spirit Bomb? That would have been amazing. Cast time takes way too long though and the entire process is way too loud; every enemy within a relevant radius will flock to the mage in droves.

**You will forgive this. I could not resist**

Walking Bomb and Blood Wound are the best, however.

pffft. no idea yet. want to see combat mechanics first. and after 360 degrees swings with a two-handed sword i am not really sure how i want to play.

i am affraid my favorite rogue, rogue, tank, mage party is in the past.

also setup. you was forced to endure Anders because he is the only non pc healer... again do i even need a healer? because in DAO you can do just fine without one. Which you can't say about DA2, unless you really want to play tbs.

besides ability to fight in cohesion was lost in DA2. and from the look of it DAI combat inherited too much from DA2, althought it's just an assumption.

so no idea, depends on combat mechanics.

I try to vary my party, but I believe one of my most used partys will be Human Warrior Inquisitor, Cassandra, Varric and Vivienne. Though that Dramatic Hands Mustache Guy looks awfully tempting to include...

In my party with my Mage Elf character I would take;

Warden

Solas

Cole if he's a thing/Varric

In my party with my Rouge Qunari character

Iron Bull

Vivienne

Cole/Cassandra

...There is not enough character slots for how many characters we actually have. I forsee myself swapping members often, and finding a 'banter triggering' bridge and crossing it a bunch of times just to hear each persons banter. Then I may change up the teams based on if they gell well as a party.

Though a common theme I forsee in my head is to have Cole in my party at all times if he's a thing. Oh please make him a thing I can write an essay and a half about him.

Well they'll just have to time it well and hope they've upgraded to Virulent Walking Bomb, so it spreads to all enemies ;)

Like the OP, I want my first team to be

-Iron Bull

-Beard Warden

-Varric

I've said this like 10355356 to the eighteenth power times but I'll say it again. Their personalities just meld well together in my head. I'll be playing an elf mage lady.

For a followup playthrough as a dwarf warrior, I'll probably take

-Sera

-Vivienne

-Cassandra

Unless, of course, one of the companions we don't know about blows me away and I just have to go "WOW, totally taking that guy."

I totally agree. Their personalities work very well together. When you said OP I paused for a second and then was like Oh, thats me!" in my head. I felt very flattered for some reason. I am very happy that this thread is doing so well xD

For the elf mage Femquisitor:
- Beardy McWarden as tank
- Varric as rogue and banter entertainer
- Iron Bull as damager OR Mustachio if he is a healer especially.

Though Varric may be replaced by a third rogue, depends on who it is.

All of them.

In DA and Mass Effect games I always rotate companions rather than always rolling with the same two characters. From a story perspective that makes a lot more sense than having some companions sit at the camp (or the ship) gathering dust.

I feel they would have the best party banter :3

Just like Cylan the Bearded said, I think Iron Bull, Warden, and Varric would fit very well together and have good banter. Varric is hilarious, The smile Warden has in some of the concept art makes me thing he atleast occasionally jokes(I know its not based on much) and I know The Iron Bull is mostly a bad-a tough guy, he jokes some too becaus they says he is not the stereotypical nonhumorous Qunari. I just have a great feeling about those three together.

I still hope for more ME2 Suicide mission, Citadel DLC, Battle of Denerim, final battle in DA2 type scenarios in these games

I've ranted before how the Suicide Mission idea should have become a widely used mechanic in ME3.

I hope to see something similar in DAI; failing that, when we're in a city or a town I'd like to see our companions out and about, shopping/eating/drinking/gambling, similar to how your squadmates went to hang out on the citadel when you visited during ME3.

Yea, I feel that something like should be used for a lot of party-based RPGs

And that was one of the things I loved in ME3 with companions actually doing something

In what regard do you mean final battle in DA2? The way Hawke gave orders to the companions who were not actually in your final party, and these others would go do their own thing during the battle?
