I have

 

1) me, elf mage inquisitor

2) Either Cassandra or Warden warrior - I've never been a big Cassandra fan, but I know nothing about Warden, so it's hard to choose.

3) Varric as my rogue? I never used him in DA2, so it's my chance to catch up with him.

4) Probably whichever mage ends up being my LI, cos it seems like both Solas and DHMG are the top contenders for that.

 

Tho I do think I'll occasionally run around with an all elf + qunari party just for fun.

I'll probably be rolling a Male Human (hopefully duel wielding) Warrior.

 

I think I'll probably have Varric with me most if not the whole game. Maybe I'll switch him out for the Female elf rogue (Sera?) or who we assume is Cole every now and then.

 

Then I'll probably alternate between having the Grey Warden and the Iron Bull with me for another Warrior.

 

Then either Cassandra, or Solas, or another mage. Not sure yet.

 

It really depends on how much I like each character.

Right now, I'm loving many of the companions at first glance. For my first playthrough I'm thinking:

 

- Vivienne

- Sera

- Iron Bull or Grey Warden (depending on their personality)

- Male Inquisitor (either an elf melee rogue or a human shield warrior or qunari mage, I'm still very on the fence about this decision)

My Male Dwarf Warrior, backed by Iron Bull, Varric and Dorian.

 

But there are so many interesting characters in this game, picking a party will actually be tough!

For my first playthrough where I'm going to play as a mage, I think I'll go with Varric, Cassandra, and the Grey Warden or Cullen if he is a companion and not an NPC.

 

why do so many prefer to have a Warrior-DPS /Off-Tank along?

 

I mean, if you only have one mage, the he/she has to heal (no way around it IMO) and that's kind you bad IMO because you lose awesome mage DPS

 

I myself will probably go with:

 

PC-Mage (Skilled for DPS)

Cassy (as my Tank)

Varric or Sera (as my rogue - cheap-shots and cheating in fights is always nice and who does not want pesky doors and boxes opened?)

Solas (as my healer - I will probably clash too much with Vivienne...fashion, love for the circles (she dislikes it that mages wanted out of them...how stupid can you be - unless of course you are a powerhungry chantry-appologist ****** of course -.-))

I want new companions we know nothing about, personally. The party isn't my concern, because I never stick to the one party (or at least, I try not to), and I can just work with what I've got anyway.

 

The party I'd like to play also depends on my Inquisitor. Hopefully, I will be able to break out of the mold of PC, tank, off-tank/DPSer, healer.

I've heard rumours of Alistair coming back, not sure if they're actually true.. if so, does that mean he's a possible party member? That'd be so awesome.

I almost always play a rogue first and if archery is like DA:2 or better then archer rogue (DW rogue if archery sucks) so...

 

Cass or Bearded Warden for Tank depending on specializations

DHMG if Dorian for Mage, maybe Solas depending on specializations 

Iron Bull 

 

If I go DW instead of archery then swap Iron Bull for Varric. Though I will swap a good bit for banter though the above will probably be my "go to" party.

I'm torn about who my Inquisitor will be between a male rogue dwarf or a female rogue Qunari.  Regardless my other people will probably be:

 

Cassandra(hoping she can be my love interest)

Varric(the bromance continues)

Vivienne(clashes with Cassandra and sharp wit to match Varric should make for interesting banter)

 

I'll probably swap in Iron Bull if I feel like the party is too squishy and I need another hammer.

OK, not really, my very first play through will probably feature a lot of party shuffling, bringing whoever I think will have the most interesting stuff to say when we do whatever it is we've decided to do while still keeping a decent party balance (at first I roll with one mage, one warrior, two rogues, but that is not a hard and fast rule ... in DA:O I eventually stopped bringing any mages at all). It's not until playthrough three or four that I start to settle into a set party for an entire playthrough (like eventually in DA:O it was me, Zevran, Alistair, rotating guest star).

Myself, Human Warrior, Champion using on and Off Sword and Board, and Great Sword/Axe

as for Companions, a Cycleing of All the companions in an Equal, Warrior,Rogue,Mage rotation.

Now that it appears Cullen is not an option, other than Varric, dont really care at this point. Will have to see how their personalities and stories unfold.

Of course I'll switch in everyone else, but i think these three will be my main dudes.
I don't know though..it feels like I gotta have cassandra everytime since she knows about the political side and has info x] have to see won't I?

I'll try to give everyone a fair shake, but I think DHMG, Bull, and Sera might end up being my mains.

Though, the rogues look the most likely for me to swap in and out regularly.

I'm sad it looks at though no Cullen for companion....but i'll live....everything else looks cool so far!
