Kinda off-topic question but I've seen a coupla straight people in this thread mention that they can't rate people of the same sex because they're straight. I find this curious. There's a difference between an "objective" measurement of someone's attractiveness and actually being attracted to them, isn't there?

 

Well, seeing as how attractiveness is in and of itself subjective, no, not really.

 

As a straight male, I can see how a woman might find most any of the male companions attractive in one way or the other, accounting both for personality, appearance, and various preferences. But as I'm not attracted to them myself, I'm in no position to "rate" them; that being said I find the whole rating thing to be meaningless as I don't think opinions on attractiveness are a quantifiable measurement. I might find Cassandra more attractive than Sera, but I've no way to quantify the difference between them.

Without personalities, its hard to say - looking at the ME2 charcters in a similar thread many years ago I thought Samara looked really hot. Her personality however made her not hot at all, Morinth however could blow my brains out anytime.

Cassandra- 7. Kind of typical BioWare leading lady (dark hair and all that), but points for the goth eyeliner, class, and accent.

 

Vivienne- 9. Elegant, very pretty face, overall love her design concept so far

 

Sera- 3. The blonde hair isn't working for her complexion, looks too much like a lady Zevran. Would look better with brown or black hair.

 

 

Confirmed/Semi-confirmed Gents:

 

Varric- 7. Not into the dwarves but I do like his updated brown/sandy colored hair and outfit

 

Iron Bull- 8. Pretty hot qunari. Like the bald head and attitude

 

Solas- 4. Looks like Zathrian after six months of lockup on one meal a day. The long johns don't help his case.

DHMG- 7. Looks pretty good. Nice to get a brunet on the team instead of another blond

 

Bearded Warden- 6. Beard's a little too much but I like his design

Agreed. He belongs in a Twilight book where he can spend all his time whining and being emo. Totally boring character to me.

Ugh, that makes it even worse. Maybe I just got sick of his romanticized "troubled, psychotic teenager" schtick in AHS, but that is definitely not a plus for Cole's character, for me; which I found mildly interesting.

Well it's more like troubled, psychotic child/pre-teen in this case but I feel your pain. The primary draw for me with Cole is he might be possessed by a demon and his unique relationship with murder. That can go in such interesting directions. So I'm hoping that if he IS a companion that the emphasis is less on how terribly ingenuous and vulnerable he is and more on the idea that he literally has to kill to survive. Now that he knows it's him doing the killing the potential moral dilemma could be veeeeeeerrryyyy interesting. Existential angst all moshed up with moral dilemmas always is.

 

But it's all in the delivery I guess. He has the potential to become a trite cliche twice over but he also has the potential to be my favourite DA companion to date. It'll probably be like riding a unicycle on a tightrope while juggling ghasts but it can be done! I hope.

Actually, Cole is a troubled, psychotic ageless being of the otherworld with the alleged mentality of a pre-teen, to be precise. lol

 

He's not really anywhere near as messed up as, like, Tate from American Horror Story, though. He's not really that psychotic. I wouldn't say he's a sociopath, or anything that strong. He's only killed people that wanted to die, basically. Mercy killings are a lot more benevolent than what most of our companions have done, really. We acquire a lot of pretty "bad" people. 

 

But what I mostly find interesting about Cole is what we could learn from him about the nature of spirits.

A pretty face is worthless if it's attached to a morally reprehensible human being. One's attractiveness is greatly enhanced by good character, in my experience. 

 

I don't find any of the characters particularly handsome, but I will throw out my observations based on their complete design. 

 

Iron Bull: 7 - He is no Arishok, but I do like him and I'm interested in seeing more footage of him.  

Grey Warden - 9 - Nice to see an older more grizzled man. 

Solas: 6 - I can't tell enough to be sure about him. My opinion will probably change once more footage is released. 

Cullen: 5 - I find him generic and uninspiring. 

Dramatic Hands: 6 - He's different and I can appreciate that. 

Varric: 9 - My opinion is slightly biased towards my preference of his character in DA:2. 

 

And for the girls...

 

Cassandra: 6 - she's obviously pretty, but I've never been a fan of short hair and her personality is a little too forceful for my taste. 

Vivienne: 9 - I like her a lot

Sera: 8 - What little I've seen I like.

Just kidding. But seriously, some of the people in here have way too high standards, or are just assholes about it.

Also, you're free to say what you want i guess, but atleast be classy about it, calling them names doesn't really do any difference

 

 

Anyway, lastly: BEAUTY IS SUBJECTIVE. If you think someone is unattractive, that's fine. Just know that it's an opinion, not fact just because you think so.
