Ultra-rares are common and Commons are ultra-rare.

Never have I seen so many weapons of greyed out glory before, but never have I seen so few of the first weapons that bless a player on their odyssey. It is a curious thing to witness, the shifting of that which was never seen, to the most common dropping out of sight. It seems nonsensical, almost self-defeating if the supposed rarest weapons become the most sighted of all, is it not?

I realize all wish to be braggarts, but I wonder if there should have only been a limited supply of ultra rare weapons to the entire fanbase. Could such a thing be done?

i.e. only 1,000,000 harriers exist, 2,000,000 hurricanes upgrades exist. OF course, you'd have to expand to the amount of ultra-rares astronomically to ensure that people would get enough black cards.

It is a shame that the guns we start off with end up on the trash pile, I hate wasted potential.

This kind of thing is why I believe that gun levels should have been where the common/uncommon/rare/UR distinction was put.

Back in ME1 an avenger I might be a common sight, but an avenger VIII would be a rarity due to the price tag, so having the unlocks in ME3 tiered in the same way would have made sense.  It'd have been a damn sight easier to balance too.

Making a gun unobtainable at all to latecomers would be terribly divisive though, I'd hate to have seen something like that implemented.  Everyone should get to try the venom at least once.

I'm not sure but I figure you're trying to say that Common weapons are ultra rare to see in lobbies (to which I'd disagree, because there's a useless leecher in almost every PUG), while the Ultra Rares are the most commonly seen.

Is that about right?

The way to fix that isn't by screwing over your late comer players by limiting URs like that. It's by making your lower tier weapons competitive at all levels of play, while having higher tier weapons be more interesting, different and fun instead of being straight up better in every way.

A limited supply of UR weapons? Pls....us pc haxors would always have an infinite supply. Besides, that's an atrocious idea...like Prime pet buffs.

That was my interpretation of the OP too.

Having commons be flexable, general purpose weapons and UR's be highly specialised would work too, I agree.

And again, screwing over latecomers is a terrible idea.

I would like to comment, but last time I quoted you I missed the joke and needed to be flamed. I abstain from answering. :D

I wonder how newcomers will get the rares and ultra rares they want if they pick up the game now, don't you?

Oh wait, they won't. Not easily.

Still, point taken. Perhaps if a particular gun has a demand on it, there could be more upgrades added slowly to the pool to make it seem ultra rare. Of course, that would be approaching giving the game an economy system.

I do agree that newcomers are up against it and could use a hand.  I wouldn't have objected to a few more free starter packs being made available after the weekend events ended.

Still, the time it takes to get a good manifest isn't as bad if you don't think of it as a grind.

Mais M. LeBoogie a demandé votre explication en espagnole....

Or it might be a Fawlty Towers reference.
