Asides from Shepard, she has the most screentime out of anyone, also she can't die until the very end of the game where nothing matters much. She's the one who dragged Shepard's body to be resurrected, she's available as a LI for both Shepard from the very beginning. She's the Shadow Broker and has an entire DLC dedicated to her in which Kaidan and Ashley doesn't have. In the third game, Kaidan and Ashley are relegated into minor squadmates and missing over half the game. Liara is recruited early in the game and is the only one who has extensive knowledge regarding the crucible. She's important throughout the game, and she also has a big storyline with the Thessia. Also, the refusal ending featured her as the main voice, and her info on the crucible allowed the next generation to destroy the reapers once and for all.
Is Liara the deuteragonist of the series?

I did a playthrough with her being the only one killed, except Thane, Legion, edi, Ashley/Kaidan and of course Shepard. So no, everyone doesn't have to die for T'soni to be killed.

I thought she can only be killed near the end if you have low Military Readiness when everything is no longer matter?

How did you manage that, if you get her killed in the beam run, then you kill another squaddie as well.

Your ems has to be 1750 - 1900 for squadmates to die on the beam run. If its below 1750 the door to the Normandy doesn't open suggesting that all onboard are dead.

Not if EDI is that other squadmate.

I get the feeling you don't like Liara. lol. Honestly, it makes sense for Liara to have a lot of screentime though since it's a lot easier to make storyline and program for a character who is definitely alive, but I think because of that, she's accidentally become the deuteragonist of the series, or maybe it was planned out from the very beginning since it was made as a trilogy. Who know?

Man o War! I dug this Blue Babe from the opening story. And she got hotter with each episode. She did a real cool wiggle dance with Shepard in Citadel DLC that was priceless. I really liked how the writers grew the chemistry between her and Shep. Really sad to see her just go away in the next installment. Who knows. Maybe she'll popup again in a future episode or new DLC.

All of this has happened before, and will happen again. Liara is the harbinger of disapproval, the epicenter of all contention.

Sure, you can make the argument that she's the deuteragonist of the series.
Doesn't make her overly large role a good thing though.

I generally hate all Asari minus the few badasses like Samara, Vasir, Anaya, Enyala and Aethyta.
Liara was tolerable in Mass Effect 1, annoying in Mass Effect 2, and insufferable in Mass Effect 3.
