Yeah, I still blame her for the reduction of their characters. I love how you don't admit that Casey said she's her favorite character. And she doesn't even tell them she gave the body to Cebrus, so the VS gets sidelined by her. Yeah my Shepard blames T'soni knowing how my Shepard fully feels about this group...."

I hate Liara as much as a lot of people can, though not nearly as much as Ashley, but she's not responsible for the alliance squadmates uniform flanderization of character. She got a lot of undue attention, but that doesn't mean it was what affected them. Otherwise, you'd have to admit her heavy presence and narrative prioritization detracted from every other squad mate (which I do hold to a certain degree).

Who said anything about Casey Hudson (who is also a dude btw)? Hudson has publicly stated that Jack is his favorite character. That said, Casey wasn't the guy writing the characters. Yes, he had a hand in their development, but overall, SuperMac is who was responsible for Liara. Blame him - he's the one putting her in everything. Hudson has a breathtaking amount of issues IMO, but this isn't one of them.

How does Liara giving the body to Cerberus make the VS get sidelined? That's illogical. And does it really matter? You're looking for reasons to hate Liara to a level I think even Mikefest might find irrational (no offense to him, but a lot of his points aren't always based on stable logic).

*edit* And I was right: You know you're going too far when Mike calls you out for Liara hate.

She didn't even tell them that Shepard body was being given to Cerberus. My Shepard even talked badly about them in the first game, and talks badly to TIm every chance she gets. She hates them with a passion and still gives my body to Cerberus against my Shepard's will. She blames T'soni for causing a rift by not telling Kaiden when she knew about her romancing him... Yeah, she's to blame along with the writers who shoehorned them in too the same character... That's how my Shepard feels nothing more. I don't mind Liara, not in the least sorry got to much in character..." Yeah sorry I just realized; how illogical it sounded lol. My Shepard just is Bi polar so Kaidan has to deal with a bi polar Shepard.....^_^

Sorry guys just

Thing is, Mac and Casey have both named their favorite character, and it's not Liara. I ascribe her relatively prominent role in the last two games to her being a blue alien woman who can't be skipped or killed. In other words, she's good for marketing and they don't have to create duplicate content.

This is, why I hate Liaramancers because y'all can't see the fact she caused the rift in the first place...

You do realize that neither Massively Effective or themikefest are Liaramancers, right? Of the three people that replied to you I'm the only one that you could accurately apply that label to.

In any case, I have no problem with anyone who doesn't like characters I like, so long as the reasons they put forth for not liking said characters either make sense or just boil down to different preferences. Its only when those reasons don't make sense or are not aligned with what actually was said or done in the games, that I take issue with what was posted. That is also true by the way with characters that I don't consider my favorites. Ashley isn't my favorite character (though I do like her), but I'm usually active in any thread where people say she's a racist bible-thumper. (she's neither)

I thought I erased that part, even I though I should've be slapped after I read it. I dislike her but hate her nope I don't. I'm indifferent to her.

I remember Casey said Liara was his favorite to the person who said Mac and Casey mentioned those favorite character but I could be wrong.

Liara was indeed Casey's favorite character in Mass Effect 1. Old interview...
http://personalgamin...ass-effect.html

But that has nothing to do with her prominent role in the series. As others have already mentioned above, his overall favorite character was Jack. The only reason Liara got more content is because she is one of the most popular characters in the series. It's the same with Garrus.

Reading this thread, I'm reminded of documentaries I've seen about North Korea where the citizens all claim Kim-Jong controls the whether and whatnot.

Haha!

I agree somewhat to extent that the writers caused the rift to happen, but it was also do too Liara not telling them. But I'm at least able too see that she somewhat is the cause but not the sole cause.

You'd think just one documentary would cover that subject.

Yes. I mean weather. Thank you for pointing out my trivial grammatical mistake.

So you make mistakes and get annoyed when people call you out on them.

Think of how everyone else feels for all the 'mistakes' that you point out.

I'll point out another one. That wasn't a grammatical error; That was a spelling error.

Haters gonna hate.

Seriously, this was already getting old when ME3 came out and the arguments of the haters did not improve over time.

Ashley and Kaidan got sidelined because most players prefered Garrus, Liara, Tali and Wrex.

On Top of that there were many players (not just many posts from the same guys) who disliked them, Ashley in particular for her racism.

Ashley and Kaidan were never sidelined, I have no idea what the poster above me is talking about. No one is complaining that the VS were sidelined mate, just that due to the Virmire decision Bioware were limited in the amount of "individual" content they could get, not the amount of content they get all together. The VS get significantly more content than the vast majority of squad members, including Wrex. I have no idea why you mentioned him anyway, since he's dead in most playthroughs, he's the one that got screwed.

Every character has many people who dislike them, no one more than Liara actually, so I don't know what that has to do with anything. Every ME3 squad member got hate once the full squad was confirmed and people realised that their favourite ME2 characters had been dropped in favour of the original ME1 squad plus a few others, there were many tears and lots of trolling from fans of ME1 squad members lol. I'm tempted to look up some of those old posts actually, they were glorious to read at the time.

I would argue that: Plot importance, perhaps, but still limited for either character (due to what you said however). I wouldn't say they got a significant amount of content, especially Ashley post coup. They are still screwed when it comes to that, but not by Liara. As you say, together, they're a combined entity, meant to hold the same role. I suppose you've got a point in that regard, but as characters, they're pretty limited. Ashley definitely is. Not that I like her mind you; She's by far and away my least favorite character. But I wanted to see more of her, particularly so I could troll her and be a general jackass to her. You are definitely correct in that the poster above you doesn't know what he's talking about however.

It was rather obnoxious trolling from the ME1 crowd over the lack of ME2 characters. Two wrongs don't make a right in that regard; I think they should have incorporated more of the stronger ME2 characters into the squad or plot more relevantly than they were. As it is, they tried, but it still comes off as very empty and perfunctory. Miranda in particular I feel was notionally made to play a central role, without actually being a central character in the game.

I agree, I would have preferred Miranda in the role of the Shadow Broker. As she seems, to be the type of person for the job. I'm a fan of Me1 but I do agree Me2 LI got screwed over. Jacob cheats on you ect... I'm one those that all LI deserve a place in the plot line. I kind of went over board I had been pissed off sorry about that..

I would incorporate her role into that of the SB. She's much more suited for the role than Liara, but I wouldn't have her be it per se.

Agreed, I would have her manage the shadow broker agents while still on the squad. And yeah, I had a really bad argument going I feel so embarrassed about those sorry again.

@Daemul: I was refering to Ryrienas post from the previous page, and had to admit that the VS got less content in ME2 (did not point that out).

Miranda might be able to handle the shadow broker network, but she whould not be able to uncover the crucible plans, since she does not possess Liaras abilities and knowledge regarding the protheans.

Anyway, hate discussions like are useless.
