I also think Sera might be an LI is because both games have had a "younger" seeming female LI.  Leliana, while not chronologically younger, had an innocence and playfulness about her (with giggling and cooing and teasing).  Merrill was naive and sheltered.  Sera is described as a brat and sounds kind of selfish.  It just seems like another play on that character type.

 

Vivienne and Cassandra, while not really similar, do have some similarities that makes me think that we won't get both.  They are both strong, worldly, confident human women in positions of power.  They could be completely different in reality (and their romance arcs could go in completely different directions), but I just wonder if, for variety's sake, they would opt to go with Sera, who seems just more different.

 

I think Scribe Girl is going to be in the running too, but that's only because it seems NPC romances are on the table.  So I imagine that if Cullen is an NPC romance, they would balance him out by putting in a female one too.  Scribe Girl, as someone who might be stationed in the Keep and (possibly) playing a support role like Chambers/Traynor, would be a good option.

What's the difference?

 

I think it's sometimes hard for sexuals to understand, which I can understand, but there is distinct difference between what I feel for a friend and what I've felt for people I'd wanted to have a relationship with, and it is not related to sexual desire.

We don't have much to go on, but he (at least on the surface) seems very different from both Fenris and Zevran (who are both very different from each other).  I'm sure that he will be unique enough.  I'm not surprised that people aren't really bringing him up though, given that shiny bald heads on skinny dudes is not a mainstream "look" for romantic leads.  Don't get me wrong, he's got some clear fans, but he isn't "traditionally" what many people find attractive. 

 

*Note, I actually find bald guys attractive, particularly when they are older and beefy (think Bruce Willis), so I'm not necessarily my own opinions that I'm talking about.

I think Solas will probably an LI, but I think most people think there will be a non-human LI for both men and women. It's true, though, that Origins only had Zevran. 

 

That being said, I don't necessarily want Solas as a male LI, but at the same time the only one I like more is DHMG and I could see them both easily getting a slot. Cullen has a slot, I think there will be two party slots open, personally. I don't really care who fills one besides DHMG. None of the other guys appeal to me.

I find him attractive purely from all the fantastic fanart in the Solas thread!

 

From the few photos we've seen, for some reason he reminds me of Fenris - the broody type. I hope he's not. Time will tell, I guess.

Romantic love for me necessarily includes friendship is not conflicted by fraternity and sex is a bonus to strive for.

The thing is, none of the other guys really are "traditionally attractive" either, except maybe Cullen.

The concept art piece that I go to immediately when I think of Solas is the War Room piece where he has this wry smile on his face while everyone else was either shocked or yelling.  It makes me really hope that he's going to be a calm, intelligent guy with a sense of humor.  It's also the piece where I find him most attractive (although I do really like the shaved head with a braid look, for some reason).  I'm hoping that he's more like that.

 

The thing is, none of the other guys really are "traditionally attractive" either, except maybe Cullen. 

 

To be honest, I wonder if this is why Cullen seems even more of a fan favorite since there isn't another guy with an equally strong fan-base.  Some people like Solas, some like DHMG, some like Iron Bull, some like the Grey Warden (and some people overlap over each), but there isn't another "traditionally attractive" option that might have more overlap.  I'm fine with it, to be honest, because while Cullen would be my third favorite of those options (based solely on looks), I still like him, so I'll be happy regardless of whoever the other two end up being.

Ohhhh yeah I forgot about that piece of art. Back in the day when he had hair... I think the baldness makes him look more serious for some reason.

Actually, yeah, I've thought for a while that this could be the reason for Cullen's over the top popularity. If there were more widely aesthetically appealing males announced for DA:I, I think it would be more evenly spread, especially if they represented different perspectives. Cullen would probably keep the pro-Chantry/pro-templar demographic and others would stop just.. overlooking that part. 

 

Of course there are some people that like Cullen for other reasons than his appearance, but yeah, I think the appearance and the lack of other traditionally attractive males definitely gives him a push.

I forgot to say that I wouldn't be at all shocked if Varric was made an LI. There were a number of people wishing for it. I may or may not have been among them...>_>

 

I'm just going to reserve judgment on potential LIs until I've played the game and got to know their personalities because that will ultimately make them or break them. I might have a visual preference at first glance of their designs, but, for example, Varric did not on the surface strike me as a character that I wanted to romance, and yet he ended up being (for me) the most interesting, charming, and like-able of all the companions. I just couldn't help myself.

Then I'd be more interested in him as an LI.  However, what I've seen of his in game model, I'm not really feeling it.

Again, his personality might win me over, but I'd be lying if I said he wasn't starting at a deficit.

I predicted that Cassandra wouldn't be an LI in the last thread. So much that prediction, eh?

 

Honestly I don't know. The Cullen reveal seems to indicate that there will be LIs who aren't companions also, which makes it kind of harder to predict. I think Sera is probably an LI. Vivienne I'm not so sure about after the Cassandra reveal. How many LIs are there?

 

Solas & Varric I guess would be my bets at this point for the male LIs. Good thing no real money is involved though.
