You're right, being child like doesn't equate being a child.

 

You're just wrong about which side of that divide Cole sits on.

If you think Cole is a child, I can deal with it. Think what you will.

Though I think otherway and you'll have to deal with it as well.

I personally think that Cole really was mentally a child in the very beginning of the book. But he progressed through it. And in the and we see him different, stronger then before. Cole outgrew his fears, and I don't see any reason for him to stop.

 

IMO: David Gader did this character a great disservice with all this "child"-stuff.

At least it's not as bad as Solas looking like Nicholas Cage as an elf. That bothers me so much that I can't even express it without using all caps and at least 10 exclamation marks. Having similar features would have been okay, but he's like the spitting image of him. No way in hell am I romancing that.

You might think so, but the fact of the matter is that Cole is his character, one who is clearly important to him, and if he maintains that Cole retains childish immaturity that would make him unfit for an adult to romance or sexualize, then it remains that Cole retains a childish immaturity that would make him unfit for an adult to romance or sexualize.

 

(And there is a wide range of beliefs and behaviors that could still be deemed "childish" or immature...progression in one area does't mean progression in all areas. If he's able to be a companion to a BW protag, it stands to reason that Gaider has accounted for some of that growth. Just not the parts you want.)
