Wait, so people who have lost loved ones can't love other people? That's a little morbid.

If Varric ends up being an LI, I will eat my hat.

I'm not wanting or expecting anything in particular with the romances, I'm just excited to meet the characters and see how it goes. I will say, as someone who always roleplays straight women, Cassandra may cause my Inquisitor to question her sexuality. ;)

Easy there cowboy, I just meant kissing/making out.

na but I understand what you're saying on both parts. It just depends on the person when it comes down to it.

And it's also no one elses business to question.

I'm just pointing out, as you say, it depends on the person.  For myself, romance tends to spawn out of friendship moreso than just spontaneously, but I can tell the difference between someone I am romantically attracted to and someone that I consider a good friend.  Sex is not "the barrier" the blurs those lines for me, which was the implication with the inquiry a few pages back.

Do you mean "friends with benefits" or a romance, flourishing from friendship?

I think what Allan is getting at is more that, for a lot of people, sex or sexual attraction isn't necessarily the main thing that distinguishes romantic attraction from friendship – for a lot of people the difference has more to do with the nature of the emotions involved. For example, I know that personally, I can have feelings of sexual attraction for someone who I consider a good friend without necessarily being romantically interested in them, and there are people who are asexual who are still interested in romantic relationships.

Didn't Sebastian already cover the asexual romance thing, though?

Oh no.  Have you ever tried to romance Sebastian? That was... not remotely an asexual romance. I mean, from Sebastian's end, it was chaste if you were friendly, but all of Hawke's flirt lines were pretty much about she wanted to bang him. Every. Single. One. It was bad. So, perhaps, a mutually-asexual romance would be what we should request, lest we be stuck with something like that again. I had such high hopes for Sebastian. It was crushing for it work like it did.

EDIT: Adding that Sebastian was also female-only.

No, I never did it. I didn't play a female character for DA2 at all.

I think asexual romances will work out better if they keep the all bisexual/vague system, because it's going to be kind of a mess if they do 2/2/2, I'd think. I can see it disappointing people on both sides with the asexual romance fitting into one of the other sexuality slots. To me, it would make the most sense for this to be an extra thing, like Sebastian was.

Oh, I'm aware that an asexual romance would tick off more people than it would please. It's not something I actually expect to see implemented, but I still want it.

I wasn't interested in romancing Sebastian because it didn't include sex. The reason wasn't that I couldn't see the sex scene. I just see that sex is part of the romance but I also understand that is not the case for everybody. Maybe there could be some kind of option to have a romance without sex etc. That way 2/2/2 is still possible :)

This is actually a pretty good idea. That's win/win for basically everyone. It just adds in a few more lines and they don't have to dedicate a specific romance to this.

Being someone who believes no sex until after marriage myself, I would love the ability to have non-sexual romances. Or even marry the LI, then have sex scene.

EDIT: and sebastian is not asexual i don't think... wasn't he like one of those ~born again~ chantry people who were like really raunchy before or something. (i don't know cause i never romanced him) if so then yeah not ace

Apparently, he was more promiscuous than even Isabela.

Viv is the woman i'm pining for (Cass too) though. She completely won me over with her attitude...

As for the others, we don't even have the slightest idea yet.

I hoping for Viv as an LI as well lets just hope. I think the Inquisitor can change Vivs attitude look at Morrigan when you romance her she made a complete change but she was still the same person to everyone else lol

More so then Isabela? Is that even humanly possible?

I don't think Sebastian was asexual at all. Asexuality is sexuality where person doesn't feel sexual attraction and that conflicts with Sebastian past quite much. To me it's clear that Sebastian is heterosexual who just doesn't have sex because of his religious believes, so him not having sex is celibate not asexuality.

I wonder how people will react if Sera or Solas aren't LIs. It seems like almost everyone is expecting it right now.

In their defense, so far we are 3 for 3 on the vanilla elven party members being romancable.

I would certainly be surprised, particularly in regards to Sera as she and Cassandra seem to have fairly opposing personalities (At least in regards to Sera's bio from the survey), but I wouldn't mind. Cassandra is the character I was hoping for,  so I'm interested to see who else is a LI more than I am pining for any character in particular.

I'm not really saying I don't think they will be. It's my guess that they will be, too. lol

It's feasible that only one of them will be, though. There weren't two elven romances in Origins. It's also always possible that they'll toss another race in the slot, like Iron Bull or Varric.

Not having a sex scene didn't turn me off because that just feels really immature, it was the creepy chaste marriage thing. It literally went from "Oh, look at Sebastian's dreamy soulful eyes" to "Oh crap, he's got the crazy eyes! Code red! Code red!" LMAO

The no sex scene really doesn't bother me at all (consider we had dry hump, not sex scene in DA 2 anyway). But Sebastian was one of the worst romance plot I've ever seen. He was such a boring, preachy, stick in the mud character. And the fact that every flirt lines from fem Hawke gives me the impression that she's so damn close to just strip down and jump him really made me sick. Useless in combat, boring, bland character, and terrible romance plot. Boy, BioWare really outdid themselves here. The only good thing about him is his shiny armor, and they still managed to screw that up with Andraste crotch. Man, he sounds more and more like a devs' waste bin lol
