Because its not easy doing scenes because of the size differences.    The developers will want things to look perfect and if it doesnt look good to them...they will take it out.    I could be wrong too...but this is Bioware.  They are going to do what they think is best.

I suspect if there are restrictions....its going to anger alot of people too.

If my dwarven lady could romance Alistair, I'm sure diffirent height is not a problem

Iron Bull could possibly be an asexual romance. That's not lore-breaking. (Even if you consider he might not actively follow the rules of the Qun.)

I kind of hope so...

Question. Asexual doesn't necessarily translate to aromantic, right?

This is correct; an asexual person can still feel romantic love.

The two are separate things I believe.

I didn't think it was so much that same-sex relationships were fundamentally 'frowned upon' or considered bad or...any of the usual vile used against the LGB community IRL, more so that same-sex relationships couldn't produce offspring and therefore one needed to be engaged in opposite sex behavior for the good of ones family etc.

Thats such a fine line to walk but I hope that if they approach it they do it well; I'm fine with the nobility thing maybe being addressed (it could be important for Celene for example) but I really hope Bioware avoids as much real world shaming and rhetoric as possible. I don't like the idea of them adding fuel to the fire that our companions being bi and such is unrealistic or that they all need to talk about their non-heterosexual sexualities b/c its SUCH a big deal in Thedas...because it isn't. And as it stands the nobility thing gets uncomfortably close to the real world argument some creeps use against same-sex marriage that it shouldn't happen b/c marriage is only for producing kids.

The way I interpreted it is different I guess. And I look to the abuse Fenris endured and it made me wonder how many other slaves endure sexual abuse in Tevinter.

Okay, good. I can do a romance like that.

Nope. That'd actually be an interesting romance for Bioware to do, come to think of it. Love without sex.

Exactly. I have quite a few Ace friends in long-term relationships. It's just not necessarily sexual. And asexuals do differ in how much physicality they enjoy. Some enjoy kissing and cuddling. Some enjoy other things. It's a scale.

See; Sebastian.

Sebastian was chaste, not asexual. Once married, he would be totally for romance and snuggling

Even after the marriage, Sebastian's relationship with Hawke was a chaste one.

I'm not saying there isn't a (huge) difference between chastity and asexuality, I'm just saying that a romance without sex has been done.

I'm sorry, I'm not sure I understand the connection you're making? (sincerely) Could you elaborate please?

Sadly I'm sure Fenris is far from the only slave who has endured sexual abuse at the hands of the Magisters. However, I doubt very much that its only homosexual magisters who are sexually abusing their slaves.

Indeed. I believe Hadriana also sexually abused Fenris as well.

That's assuming *if* they are gonna write that type of romance arc, which we don't know yet.

They might be writing that type of romance arc, and if the mage is Dorrian and Gaider is his writer then there's a chance that he might be the gay option based on a few things.

Hasn't there been some underlying rumors yet? I thought it was hinted by the writers.

Breifly in the LGBT podcast around the 33 minute mark, someone credited DAO with helping them come out of the closet and asked if there was a character who may be struggling with their sexuality and be in the closet. The dev who answered this said it may be spoiling to much, found that type of possible storyline fascinating but he wouldn't want to write it because he was straight and said if the right person did it it would be interesting or something like that and would want someone who understands this type of thing to write it and do this type of romance arc justice.

Since there are gay romances in DAI, and we know Gaider is writing another companion that he's wanted to write for awhile and another romance this would make sense.

This does bring up a good point...the dev who thought it was super interesting was straight. I know not all LGB gamers would mind the story but for many it would be decidedly less fascinating to have someone struggling with their id then to see a couple badass LGB characters embrace it. Very few LGBT characters get introduced in media who don't haveta first run the 'coming out' angst-fest gauntlet.

Oops sorry I should have phrased that better.   I just assumed from World of Thedas....it was looked down upon.

The writing made it seem like f/f & m/m was not approved of and really looked down upon while the other countries in Thedas didnt care.

And my bad...completely slipped my mind about Hadriana.

I really hope Scribbles isn't a lesbian, because she'd just fall into Bioware's seemingly typical 'homosexual info girl' they seem to be overplaying. We've had Kelly Chambers and Samantha Traynor already, Scribbles I hope is Bisexual at least.

I personally hope things will go as -

Cassandra = Straight

Scribbles = Bisexual

Sera = Lesbian

Solas = Straight

Cullen = Bisexual

Dorian = Gay

However I think things will go -

Cassandra = Straight

Scribbles = Lesbian

Sera = Bisexual

Solas = Bisexual

Cullen = Straight

Dorian = Gay

I'm pretty sure Cassandra will be straight though, I get the impression she's going to be Dragon Age's Ashley, they're definitely seemingly setting her up to be the default male Inquisitor's LI.

Cassandra (potentially) being straight is legitimately the single, most horrible romance crime done by BioWare since they made James Vega unromanceable.
