I wonder how people will react if Sera or Solas aren't LIs. It seems like almost everyone is expecting it right now.

I'd be very very surprised. And give Bioware a cookie for defying expectations.

I must admit, I'm not particularly interested in either of them. Sera we know basically nothing about other than she seems to like dirty jokes and Solas is....well, to be frank, he looks boring. Maybe it's the complete lack of anything that might make him stand out. I am ready to let myself be convinced of the opposite once we get to know more about his personality, but at the moment I have zero interest in him.
So I'd be happy if the companion LI slots were given to someone else. Assuming that Cassandra is straight (which I do, and it TEARS ME APART), my only option for a companion romance would be Sera...and I'm tired of the party-loving, bratty, promicious rogue type. (Though she might very well turn out to be completely different.) I want a woman for my FemPC, dammit. Not a girl. She'd be the perfect gal to have a Bromance with, but not a romance.

Oh well, it's still just speculation. For all we know, Bioware might do the exact opposite of what I'm dreading.

If Vivienne is the female LI, I think she's more likely to be the "defrosting the queen" trope than Cassandra, honestly. I mean, Cassandra and Cullen seem to have the same kind of awkward/repressed thing going on, but I wouldn't call them "frosty", exactly. Vivienne is a HUGE ice queen, though, I think.

I'd bet my Asunder copy that Sera won't be a LI. Solas is also unlikely... But possible

What makes you think so? Why do you think other possibilities are more likely?

If we get classic 4 LIs then I'm 90% sure she won't be a LI
I stal... follow Bioware twitter account and I found some clues hinting that except Gaider two more writers write LIs. Mary Kirby and Patrick Weeks. Sera is written by someone else

I'll reserve judgment on companions, personalities, and love interests for when I play the game.

Personally, I like the dynamic of having certain companions with certain orientations. Morrigan was my favorite precisely because I had to work at it.  I needed a character with a compatible mindset.  DA2 romances were so lame, formulaic.  None of them had any emotional impact.  I hope that gets rectified in DAI.  I much prefer the ME approach; Steve and Traynor only accessible by same sex companions.

All the writers have the capacity to write LIs. And Lukas Kristjanson wrote Sera.

Ah, I see. I believe Sera is Lukas Kristjanson, right? It's possible we'll get 6 LIs this time, though.

^ that's definitely true about the ice queen thing viv would totally fit that trope

as for cass being m/f exclusive i didn't think so at first, but now i see everyone else is thinking so and maybe they are right :(

but i've been thinking about it and like, cass has a very high female following and i think cullen has a very high male following from what i have seen, so maybe they noticed that and they will throw us a bone and make cass and cullen bi?

maybe that's why they chose to announce them first, cause they are the bi ones

i'm hoping so cause i wanna romance cass as a grrrl (obviously) and cullen as a boy

I'd be totally willing to cut losses on Cullen as straight because I think he's going to be an NPC romance and I couldn't care less about them, but the most fair thing would be to make the NPCs bi. I don't know about Cassandra, though, it seems like she's the one most people have gotten upset about.

I recall reading W's and K's tweets during jokey dialogue with other staff members concerning cancelling romance content. One of the panicky ideas back then at BSN.
W. and K. both wrote sth along the lines of "Ohh, so you joked, What a shame I've already deleted the whole content on my PC! Oh well it's time to start over"
Anyway, I don't say these are proofs but I still consider them to be pretty valid hints
Oh, and I think if NPCs will be involved, then the Scribe Girl is a likely LI

Sure they do, but I still think it's DG, MK and PW who write LIs

Among Russian Bioware fans we call her Jasmine... I'd rather call her Pearl though. A pretty name

I know David Gaider said he was writing 2 romances in one of the least vague statements I've ever seen from him. lol

I've wondered, though, if he meant his 2 companions or if one of them is an NPC romance. Because I need that element of vagueness if I'm ever going to see Gaider the same way.

If Cullen is NPC, I think Gaider might have written him, as Cullen probably needed a rewrite after Hepler left.

That's also what I was thinking, basically.

Honestly I thought he was going out of his way with vagueness there.

He's confirmed he's writing two companions, and he's confirmed he's writing two LI's, but he never put two and two together to confirm both the companion's he's writing are LI's, which keeps us guessing.

At least with Cassandra's announcement as an LI we've halved the vagueness.

Hm, I also recall someone mentioning that Gaider said he was finishing someone's character. Cullen was originally written by eh, Helper? Hepler? But then she left so I bet that Cullen is his second LI. Unless he wrote two LIs and then finished Cullen...

Oh, Jasmine is pretty. What's the reason?

I guess she reminds people of Jasmine from Disney. Visually

Oh, I agree. But I don't want Cassandra due to my love of that trope. I just love everything about her. And she's the one female companion I cannot imagine romancing as a male at ALL.

But when it comes to Sera vs. Vivenne, then I'd definitely rather have Vivienne. She seems awesome and sassy and wonderful.

Well, I figure he's reining in the vague if he doesn't just reply, "that depends on what your interpretation of companions is and if you're assuming we'll have any".

I'd say either Solas or Sera pretty much has to be an LI. There is no way we would get no non-human LI's, particularly if there are six LI's.

That was actually what I thought of too when I heard some called her Jasmine, so that's probably it.

Someone pointed out that out of the three elven companions we've had in the main game, all of them were romances.

But who knows, they may go the other way and have one of the non-human LI's be either the dwarf or the qunari.
