I think that all elven companions being bisexual love interests is a far worse formula than all deuteragonists being straight.
I do hope that either Solas or Sera bunk that trend.

Both Liara (ME3) and Isabela were featured heavily in marketing, iirc.

Ashley was featured with male Shepard in ME3.
Isabela is the exception to the rule...they couldn't possibly do otherwise as no female romance was male exclusive.
All you players who want to romance Cassandra as a female even if she's straight doesn't mean your character doesn't have to try, it'll still be your own unique perspective.
I wouldn't call it a perspective as much as a desire. If she's straight while the PC attempts to romance her from a same sex stance, that perspective isn't going to pan out one iota.

Liara wasn't really that marketed, but she really was the more important companion and arguably the "main" romance of the series

I'd say Solas has the better chance over Sera, if we're going to go with Bioware's formula I get the impression he's going to be the most pushed LI for female players who want to romance someone who's actually a companion. Cullen seems far too popular to be made straight imo, he'll probably catch what Kaiden had in ME3
.
IMO, DA2 doesn't count because as i said, they used different romance ways (everyone was bi) and that we already knew Isabela was bi from DAO.
We're talking about cases where not everyone is bi and the "main" lady being featured in most videos tend to be straight.

She was the women on the game "poster" for ME3.
At this point the only companion/adivsors we can completely rule out as LI's are Cole and Leliana. Those two have been very specifically shut down.
I did not hear this, not that I am disappointed, just that I've not read any official confirmations on who is and isn't as LIs.

They've separately confirmed that Cole won't be an LI because he has the mentality of a child, and Leliana won't be an LI because they're not making anyone who was an LI option in the past an option again.

We didn't know everyone was bisexual going into the game, though. That didn't become clear until pretty close to release(and even then, there were a lot of doubters).
When we got the trailer all we know was that Isabela was being featured and we knew she was bisexual.
Why is elves being bisexual a bad formula? They're not humans, perhaps that's the way elven sexuality works.
Except it isn't, though. We've seen straight elves and we've seen gay elves.
As for why It's "bad", well, I wouldn't call it bad but I would say it's getting a little repetitive. I'd just like to see something different.
And i hope that won't be the case.
I think she's going to Bi. There were many women as well as men who wanted to romance Aveline. I just don't think they will go that route again.

It's just a bit repetitive, to be frank. And the bisexual elf was a pretty standard fantasy cliche to begin with.
I'm not convinced that it's how elven sexuality works. An elven warden can reject Zevrans advances on that basis, for example.
The fact that we have so few situations where elves exhibit a sexuality other than bisexual that some people believe all elves are bisexual is entirely the problem. It would nice to have things mixed up a bit.

Well, if we can't use DA2, then we have exactly one plot point to go from: Origins. One plot point doesn't convey any sort of meaning to how they'll go in the future.
And ME series really can't enter into it as they've gone a completely different route than DA has.
We have? What straight and gay elves?
There are several dalish elves in Origins who could only be flirted with or propositioned by members of the opposite sex(and Origins was a game where the Gaydar was on in full force).
And Briala has been confirmed to be a lesbian by Patrick Weekes, I believe.
Is the 'Shut up and play as a friend' argument used against having any romances or just certain same sex ones?
honest question.

I only remember him ever saying Celene was gay.

If your male Warden can't flirt with a male NPC, that NPC must be straight?
Weekes made a joke about the Empress being gay.
How do you know I'm not talking about my female Warden's inability to flirt with a female npc? Given the way that game was made, I think it's not an illogical deduction that if you have a female warden who can sleep with a male npc and a male warden can't sleep with that same npc, the devs intended that npc to be straight. I'm not saying that is in any way, shape, or form, a reflection of reality, but I would wager it is a reflection of the dev's intentions.

Well, I don't actually think they'll do what I had said in the other post. I think Cassandra will be bisexual and Sera straight.
I think this b/c I have no desire to romance Cassandra and I'm a very unlucky person ![]()
As I mentioned on the previous page, as far as I can remember a male warden can tell Zevran quite frankly that they are not interested in men, regardless of whether they are an elf or not. It would be strange if all elves are bisexual but PC elves can be an exception, and far more likely that the Devs just made a lot of bisexual elven NPC's and no straight or gay ones, which is why we need to start seeing some variety.
