I don't know why some people seem opposed to the idea of Merrill finding qunari attractive, though. I've always felt it was a good knock against the playersexual accusation.

 

It's not that we're opposed to it, If she's indeed attracted to them, more power to her. I'm just saying that complimenting on someone's looks is not sexual attraction.

Society is with the obsession that if a straight male finds another male pleasing on the eyes, he's gay.. or a gay male with a woman etc etc. This needs to stop. >.<

I'm just going with Occam's Razor/Conservation of detail. While that line, in and of itself, may not imply that she's sexually attractive to qunari, I think the simplest explanation for it's inclusion was short hand to say she was, to give her a character quirk.

 

After all, having Merrill say "I'm sorry the qunari are gone because I was just about to work up the courage to ask this really hot Sten back to my place so he could insert his penis into my vagina for my pleasure" wouldn't exactly be in character.

Bioware have constantly stressed they want to make it more "realistic" though, or in a sense more like how our world is today in some regard. They've acknowledged that there are people of one orientation, so why not acknowledge that not 50% of the world is bi-sexual. I'm not suggesting that many in Thedas are in-fact bi-sexual, but what I mean is is that there should be less same-sex relationships that heterosexual ones overall in the end.

 

I actually don't think that we are stressing that, even with Cameron's comments regarding realism.  At this point I more take the comments to be referring to the fact that players have a sexual orientation that extends beyond exclusive romance content, regardless of whether that orientation is gay, hetero, or bisexual.

I'm inclined to agree here. I think a lot of men and women are "hot", but I don't want to have sex with them. I cannot imagine why that is such a big problem.

I have asexual friends that state otherwise.  I'm willing to believe them when I say this, because I have no reason to think they'd lie to me about it.
