Honestly I thought he was going out of his way with vagueness there.

He's confirmed he's writing two companions, and he's confirmed he's writing two LI's, but he never put two and two together to confirm both the companion's he's writing are LI's, which keeps us guessing.

An other developper said that whoever writes a companion, writes the romance as well (if the companion is a LI). That's why I never doubted Cass was a Li, now the question is: for who ?

Someone pointed out that out of the three elven companions we've had in the main game, all of them were romances.

But who knows, they may go the other way and have one of the non-human LI's be either the dwarf or the qunari.

I hope they do, but it seems unlikely, unfortunately. I think we will just get Cass/Sera and Cullen/Solas, or if there are 6 LI's Cass/Sera/NPC female and Solas/Human Mage/NPC Cullen. I'd be more than happy to be wrong though.

I'm not entirely sure we're going to get two NPC romances.

I think we'll get six romances, but I'm not ruling out that only one of them will be an NPC. Bioware hasn't mastered the art of balance yet, don't think we'll see that now.

Cullen and Scribe girl being (apparently) the only non-companions appearing in the leaked survey and then Cullen being confirmed as a romance leads me to believe that the scribe girl is a romance option as well.

That's what I'm thinking, too.

Apart from Solas, Iron Bull would be the most likely candidate for a male romance, I think. (If we ignore DHMG for now, since we don't even know whether he'll be a companion.)

He's a Qunari, but not a follower of the Qun, which means he's probably not opposed to romantic relationships. His concept art also suggests that he has a more traditionally handsome face, what with the three-day beard and sexy sexy muscles. Apart from the scars, yes, but really, who doesn't love scars?

On top of that, I don't think Bioware is ready to give straight female Qunari PCs only men who are smaller than them. So yeah, I can imagine Iron Bull being one of the male LIs.

My guess for the male LIs are Solas, DHMG and Cullen.

If Solas doesn't fill the "non-human" slot, though, I kind of wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't Varric. I'm not interested in him at all, but the reason most people thought Cassandra was a LI was that she was heavily featured in the first trailer. Varric was the other "main feature". It could just be because he's the most recognizable legacy character and everybody's bro from DA2, though.

I wants him! I wants him so bad!

I've seen the devs say some pretty negative things about Qunari romances, so I think they would have had to change their minds a lot before they'd make Iron Bull an LI. That makes me doubtful he'll be the one.

I love Varric and would romance the CRAP out of him, but there's no doubt in my mind that he won't be a LI. I remember a dev saying that there is a possibility we might see Bianca's story continue in DA:I (as always no source because I never save any that, so take this with a grain of salt) and that, above all, tells me that there is no way Varric will be over Biance enough to enter into a new romance. I mean, I have no idea what the Bianca business is about, since I never read any of the extra material, but from what other posters have said...no Varric for me. :crying:

Actually, that makes me think even more that he'll be a LI. They did say some negative things about Qunari romance, but I believe they were talking about romance with a follower of the Qun. That is why I think there's a solid possibility Iron Bull will be romance-able. He's a Tal Vashoth who seems to enjoy defying everything people expect of the Qunari.

This is what I'm leaning towards as the most likely scenario, though I can also see (and would personally prefer) either Varric or Iron Bull replacing either the DHMG or Solas. Varric was a popular LI request from DA2 and has a large following of fans, and Iron Bull seems to have the "Dashing rogue" kind of look going on from his concept art. I'd be very happy if one of them is because it would mean we'd finally have a Dwarf or Qunari LI.

From what I remember that was more directed at people asking for a female Qunari companion solely for the sake of being an LI.

I have yet to see anything negative from them about Qunari romances.

David even joked on his Tumblr on Iron Bull being able to bang you "six ways to Sunday".

I might be biased, because Iron Bull is the least attractive companion, to me. He's literally the opposite of what I think is attractive.

I'm really hoping for DHMG, because he's the only one I really think is vaguely attractive. I would settle for Solas, I guess. If it's neither of them, I'm probably going to be cashing in the NPC romance with Cullen even after all the bitching I've done about how much I dislike NPC romances. Although, that relies on him not being straight, in which case I'm screwed. lol

I suppose it also doesn’t hurt that the Qunari is a muscled brute who looks like he could lift you like a feather and bang you two ways from Sunday. ;)

The conversation I remember seeing about Qunari romances was on the old forum and it was about how they didn't equate love and sex in the same relationship structure we do, culturally, so it wouldn't make sense for them to have a standard LI plot. It wasn't Gaider, I want to say it was Sheryl Chee. I'll try to find it, but not sure if I can now, so feel free to totally ignore this. lol

Doesn't matter for Iron Bull. He's not a follower of the Qun.

But I can understand your reluctance if you don't find him attractive at all. I like tall, big men with bulging muscles and all that, so I do hope he's a LI.

If I recall, he was using Iron Bull as an example of a character who a good portion of the fan base wanted as a love interest but who everyone accepted was unlikely to be one; the over all topic was how he and the devs had gone into this accepting that they're going to be disappointing some fans because some characters simply aren't going to be LIs.

He did cover his tracks by clarifying that he wasn't confirming or denying that Iron Bull would be an LI, or even a companion at the time.

Iron Bull or the Grey Warden are my preferred LIs, though I doubt we'll get them. :(

Well, he's not now, but he probably was born into it, which could mean a lot of their cultural ideals stuck with him.

Alternatively it could mean he's gone out of his way to reject them.

Can't I romance them all? No?

Then I hope Dorian, Vivienne, Iron Bull and Grey Warden are romanceable, along with Cass and Cullen.

Well, if whar Former_Fiends just said is correct, then I guess there really is no way that Iron Bull will be a LI. And the Grey Warden seems just as unlikely to be one. Pity. Apart from Varric, these two would be the only guys I'd be interested in. *sigh* Guess we won't get our manly male LI this time either. :(
