Maybe I'm just cynical, but frankly, for me to consider purchasing Inquisition at this point, the very least I need is assurance that I will get the same number of options I had before. And even then, I'm not going to be super thrilled if the heterosexual audience is given more options.

Can't see handling of romances affecting my decision to purchase DAI. However it will likely have a disproportionate effect on my enjoyment of the game. For instance my enjoyment of Isabela romance helped me look past many of DA2 faults and made me want to purchase the DLCs.

And what is actually done ? set sexualities, just like he wanted.

No. Not just like he wanted, unless everyone has an equal number of options, which he also said he wanted.

And will we have equal options? Who knows? They haven't said.

And even if we do, I'm still allowed to not like it. David Gaider is not the arbiter of gay taste.

We don't know the whole romance system, but we do know it's going to include set sexualities, one of the things he wanted.

I would rather they'd kept the all bi/vague system, myself. I don't see anything that could be positive about this system, in comparison, and it's easy to see the possible negatives.

That said, it would be a lot easier to swallow if we knew it was 2/2/2. We don't. Even in the likely event that we get two options each, it's still not necessarily going to be an even split and we don't know there will be a gay and lesbian LI. It's possible there will be like 3 bi and 1 homosexual LIs. It's definitely possible that the system could be fair, but it's also understandable that people are nervous. Previous experience with set sexualities wasn't balanced.

But they gave us equal options in DA2. I don't think they take a step back and give gay gamers fewer options than heterosexal gamers. They decided to include set sexualitys. But in DA2 they also decided to give everyone the same amount of LI's. If they want to improve this system they can't go back to Origins now. They should use the advantages of both previous games.

Cassandra is so big I think she should be Bi
Vivienne has appealed to women a lot more than men and I think she is a lesbian
And that leaves Sera as straight
Scribbles will probably be bisexual

10/10. Me likes your list with the ladies. Very much. Even though Sera seems interesting, i'd be fine with her being straight since my eyes were always on Cass and Madame de fer.

And yes, Vivi seems to attract more women, tumblr specifically is going nuts around her (and Cass)

Isabela and sassyHawke are my ideal ways to play DA2.  Thanks to them i can actually enjoy the game and it's faults.

I know they said they wanted everyone to have at least two options in DA2. Personally, I haven't seen where they said they always wanted romances to be balanced. Sebastian was an extra heterosexual romance in DA2, even.

But I'm not arguing it will definitely be unbalanced. I have no idea. None of us do until they tell us.

Don't you think you're going rounds for the umpteenth time? And why all the fuss, like you've already been cheated?

The only reason why I think it is likely to be balanced is because they would have to have more than six LI's in the game for it to be unbalanced and to still give everyone two choices.  I can't see them increasing the romance feature by more than 50% given that they indicated earlier that it would be roughly the same between DA 2 and DA: I.  Six LIs fits this, but seven or eight seems too much to fit with that statement.

For us all to get more than one option and for there to be six LI's the balanced system makes the most sense (not that this really holds much weight given some of  their past decisions).   The only possible permutation that would allow for everyone to have two choices and to not represent the 2/2/2 system would be one like this: l1 straight (let's say) male character, 1 straight woman, 2 bisexual men, 1 bisexual woman, and 1 lesbian.  In a situation like this, we still have "straight, bisexual, and gay" characters, like they said, and everyone still gets multiple options, but it's not even distributed.  I hope that they don't do this as it would almost certainly fall in a way where either gay men or women (most likely men given their past record) are missing and replaced with bisexual men.

That goes without saying. Nobody would ever assume that one straight person speaks for all straight people.

Where did anyone say that Gaider spoke for all gay people?  I saw people saying that since Gaider is gay, it won't fall of his radar, but I don't see anyone saying that he's speaking for all people.

It's the obvious implication underpinning the argument that I should automatically assume I'll be pleased with the offering.

I mean, it also neglects the fact that David Gaider isn't actually in charge of these sort of decisions, but the "gay hivemind" thing is in there too.

Can't say this for sure, because we know too little details about the characters so far.

Iron Bull, Grey Warden, maybe Dorian and Solas depending on the character

Mustache Guy, easily. I don't find any of the other characters attractive at all.

Maybe Cole, if he didn't have a baby brain.

There's not a sliding scale of "in charge".

He only ever said that in reference to what he would personally prefer, not what is actually being done.

Yea, if they had enough resources or else they would've went back to DA2's route

A lead writer his more in charge of the writing than a producer or a cinematic design.

Sera's in pole position based solely on looks with Cassandra second because i found her appearance in DA2 intriguing. Personalities in game will decide though.

Except the creative director is in charge of all of those things.

I mean, of course David Gaider has more authority over the writing department than the head of cinematic design does, they are separate departments, and neither of them gets the final say on what goes in the shipped product.
