Yea, if they had enough resources or else they would've went back to DA2's route

For the last time, David Gaider doesn't actually get to make that decision.

Sera's in pole position based solely on looks with Cassandra second because i found her appearance in DA2 intriguing. Personalities in game will decide though.

Yeah I am similiar. I am looking forward to some characters, personally really looking forward to Cassandra. But you never know when a character will sweep you off your feet.

Remember people: Gaider is not accountable for what he writes.

What's to account for? All he said was what he would personally prefer, not what was actually going to happen.

If he said he wished he could give everyone in the world a Krispy Kreme doughnut, would you hold him to that too?

No. Not just like he wanted, unless everyone has an equal number of options, which he also said he wanted.

Do you have a quote for this? From what I've seen he's only ever said he wanted at least two romances options for everyone. That's not the same as an equal number of options.

He's to account for what he does or doesn't do. If his name goes on it, he's accountable for what's in it, regardless of what it is or what he wanted it to be.

Except the creative director is in charge of all of those things.

Apparently he agrees with Gaider since the romance system is going the direction he wanted

Frankly, I think Laidlaw has other things to care about (cause, y'know, the game isn't about romance), and since romances are a writing thing, it's only logical that Gaider is responsible for this.

Case in point: who is the Bioware employee that talks about romance at conventions ? hint: it isn't Laidlaw.

Hey, if any character was romanceable? Who would you pick?

At first I thought Iron Bull. Just to see what it's like to be with a Qunari, but then I thought he's not really Qunari, he's Tal-Vashoth or whatever. He might have been Qunari. How much of that is still in his personality? I'm not sure.

None of what you've just said is evidence of anything.

I'm sure that the writing team ultimately decide how the romances are done with the budget they are given, and that the only thing the higher up's decide is how large that budget is.

At no point did I make any assertions about how the game is going to turn out. All I ever said was that I was waiting on further information before I make the decision on whether or not to purchase the game.

You are the one telling me that I should swap out my skepticism for blind optimism because "Gaider said".

Talking about myself as a gay man, and how that relates to my work, isn’t something I tend to do.

I'm unsure what accountable means in this context.

There are decisions about the plot and characters he doesn't get to make. Dragon Age: Inquisition being about playing the head of a new organization who's going to save the world from Veil breaches isn't David's decision. While writing gets to decide on some companions, others are dictated to them. Though this may be as simple as 'we're going to have a qunari companion' or something more specific like 'Leliana returns and she's going to be an adviser.'

Whether the romances are all bisexual/playersexual or whether they're all straight (ME 2), probably isn't David's call, though he could advocate for a certain position.

Frankly, I think Laidlaw has other things to care about (cause, y'know, the game isn't about romance), and since romances are a writing thing, it's only logical that Gaider is responsible for this.

The game isn't about romance but companions and romances take up space. A sex scene where the PC can be male or female (along with a number of different races) means the cinematic and art department has to spend time working on that instead of other things. Six such scenes takes more work than four.

Everything writing does has to be implemented by other departments. Someone has to decide whether taking the time to implement six romances is worth it. David won't be that person.
