Alternatively it could mean he's gone out of his way to reject them.
I quite like the idea of him very licentious...

Maybe, but there's not much reason for him to. If he got to adulthood with the idealism that you have sex when you feel like it and have friendships with people you care about, then why change that to be on board with the "human" ways? It's possible that he did, but it seems as likely that he wouldn't.
My guesses for romance, in addition to Cassandra and Cullen, are:
Sera and Iron Bull. Mostly because elven archers are hot and Iron Bull would allow for some really awesome "ride the bull" comments from your companions.
Seriously, though...if Iron Bull was born outside the Qun, then he might not be of the "no sex unless it's for procreation" thing the Qunari have going for them. I'm on the fence about whether we'll have more than four romances.
edit: serves me right for leaving this open for twenty minutes. I see the conversation already went there and back again.
Well, if whar Former_Fiends just said is correct, then I guess there really is no way that Iron Bull will be a LI. And the Grey Warden seems just as unlikely to be one. Pity. Apart from Varric, these two would be the only guys I'd be interested in. *sigh* Guess we won't get our manly male LI this time either.
...I thought what I said was in favor of the possibility of him being a LI.
I don't know if he will be or not, truth be told. Indeed, I kind of doubt it. I don't romance the male characters, so it doesn't particularly matter to me, but I would like to see either him or Beard Warden make the cut only to see some variety.
But I see Iron Bull as being a very sexually active character who's very open with his emotions and isn't afraid to love, or to go after something he wants. That interpretation may be miles off the marker, but if I'm right or close to it, he has all the makings of an LI.

My interpretation of Iron Bull is that in any way the qun inhibited him, he's going to act out. The qun is a philosophy of self discipline; Iron Bull is a hard drinking party animal. The qun says you have sex only for procreation, Iron Bull's going to be taking in all the pleasure he can get.

I don't think Iron Bull was born outside the Qun, because his sword is the exact same design that Arishok and Sten hold in other art work. It's possible that he just inherited it, but between that and the past as a major arc hint, I think he's probably running away from the Qun. That's just my guess, though.

I don't doubt Iron Bull is probably sexually active, more so I'm just on the fence about whether he'd want to be in a relationship in the way we understand them.

Oh. I understood your post as saying that David Gaider used Iron Bull as an example of someone who will be interesting to the fanbase, but won't be a LI, which will then disappoint said fanbase.
Such philosophy only makes him more desirableMaybe, but there's not much reason for him to. I've known quite a few people who've grown up in highly restrictive societies. Some bordering on what you might call a cult.
When they get out of that environment, more often than not, they tend to reject all the values of it and indulge in whatever they were denied previously. It may take them a little while to get out of their shells, but once they start getting tempted it's night and day. It's like the flood gates opened.
I think Iron Bull's been out of the qun more than long enough to go through that period and maybe has come out the other end having found a balance.

Ah, well, what he actually said was;
Much as some people might find it hard to believe, I don't like disappointing anyone - not that I'm suggesting you will or won't be disappointed with regards to this particular Qunari possible-companion, just that the ugliness that inevitably follows the reveal is not my favorite time of pre-release.
So, take of that what you will.

His romance may be unique in that regard. Could be the sex and love aspect(if the latter even enters into it) are completely separate in his mind; you're someone he loves, and someone he has sex with, but the two aren't necessarily related.
I think we'll be able to more guess if Iron Bull could be an LI based on what Solas' background is. We know not everyone can be LIs, so we're basically working from elimination. Iron Bull could be eliminated based on Qunari views on romance. The warden could be eliminated because he's too close to his calling. Varric could be eliminated because Bianca is still alive. We don't know enough about Solas and DHMG to say if there's something that explains them away as LIs. Companions with reasons not to be are less likely to be, though, imo. Even if you could work around them, they have to take some off the table, so companions with reasons built in are the best bet for non-LI companions.
(I also think Cole will be a companion and definitely not an LI, so I think that shores up the guessing on the mystery slot, but it's a big speculation.)
It is also possible that Iron Bull is not a love interest per se, but is available for a bit of...uh...fun on the side. Like a 'friends with benefits' kinda deal.

It would be interesting, since they've never done anything like it before.
Yeah i remember the article which mentioned about having some.. fun with a friend.

Yeah, cause you cant f*** ghost people
Yeah, cause you cant f*** ghost people
You actually can, I think, because you can have sex with a desire demon in Origins if I remember right. lol
i cant really shoot that down cause i want to say that shes a demon and cole was a ghost.... but then they are all spirits in a dream realm and i have a headache now
The main obstacle in the way of a Cole romance(aside from him being invisible and you forget about him as soon as he leaves) isn't that he's a spirit, but that he has the mind of a twelve year old.
Alright people. Cole is in. Definitely a companion. The new trailer is out.

Mind evolves, time has passed, doesn't matter what his mind used to be like.
And his writer maintains he has the mind of a child.
So now he has the mind of a thirteen year old.

Assuming the third rogue is the individual standing between Solas and Varric, that doesn't look anything like the descriptions of Cole that I am aware of.
I wasn't saying Cole was going to be an LI, I was just making a joke about the "no sex with ghost people" thing. I'm sure Cole wont be an LI.
And I'll be honest, he was no Evan Peters in that trailer, so I'm not too sore about it. Still hoping for Dorian.
White-blonde hair. Looks young. Who else could it be?Assuming the third rogue is the individual standing between Solas and Varric, that doesn't look anything like the descriptions of Cole that I am aware of.
