Moreover, it isn't as though male main characters have ever had any of their LIs given such plots.  And they (dude protags/male players) have more LIs in total without nary a one given such a plot.  Something special only for the ladies.

Yeah, experimental and realismTM is always good...as long as it concerns others :?

the feeling I had playng ME3 was: we don't want happy straight romance for ladies.  <_< I had the feeling ME3 writers hated female Shepard.

but maybe I'm just bitter today. (work was quite hard.)

Well Shepard got Liara shoved down his or her throat enough throughout the game, so they punished both genders equally in that regard...  -_-

I play a straight male Shepard so it doesn't effect me, but things did seem a little unbalanced in favour of that Shepard, however.

Gay males easily got the most screwed over by ME. No LIs at all for 2 games and only 1 companion LI ever. So disappointing. ME3 did only a thin margin better than Origins did on that front, which is just sad.

Lesbian players had no lesbian companions ever.

I thought FemShep had three great romance options with Liara, Garrus and Kaidan. Couldn`t really complain.

Neither did gay players

I know. I was just pointing out that lesbians also got squat and not just gay men.

Femshep seemed to be just a victim of circumstance with Thane already dying and Jacob viewed as so unpopular they felt they could get away with going nuclear on him.

But Thane didn't die from his sickness, he was murdered, that's completely different.

And Jacob has no excuse, it justs bears the mark of an authentic trainwreck.

Liara was available to women since the beginning. Kelly Chambers and Diana Allers were available to female players, plus Traynor as a lesbian option. Lesbians definitely win.

I'll say it again: Allers and Chambers weren't romances. They don't count, at all.

Unless you count a lame flirt and feeding your fish as real romance... not to mention both these two don't have more than one scene.

There were simply too many romances in ME. Yes, a lesbian FemShep had 4 options in ME3. But Traynor, Kelly and Allers? As much as I liked Kelly in ME2, but these three were rather shallow. I really wonder who thought having 13 romance arcs would be a good idea...

I would rather have quality over quantity in romances.

I totally agree. Allers never even got as much as Chambers did in ME2 OR ME3. You get more from Shiala.

It's still more than gay males got. I'd have taken an NPC I could flirt with and have feed my fish in ME2 over the alternative, nothing

I'd say Kelly counted as a legitimate romance, even if she didn't grant an achievement. Allers, not so much.

As long as that smaller quality quantity has enough options for everyone, certainly.  But there's no harm in wanting both quality *and* quantity.  It doesn't have to be either/or.

I'm inclined to agree with that, considering how shallow those relationships were, but it is still flings and a few scenes more than bi/gay Shepards/players could get.  It would be five years before they even had an option.  Not that any of us should really be playing the Minority Content Olympics here, when the bottom line is that anyone not a straight dude had it worse in various different and comparable ways.

Still bothered by them putting allers in the game and not even giving tali a decent face.

But I liked Tali's face. It was actually really close to how I imagined it.

It's a sequel from what I've heard.
