Just because a character has more hetero fanbase than gay/bi doesn't mean the said character should be straight. >.<

I really do hope that's not the case.

Yeah, I wasn't implying that it should  be this way.  I was asking because someone mentioned that they are interested in seeing how the straight LI fanbase reacts if they don't get their LI of choice.  I was simply asking who had a strong straight fan base.

Hmmm, let me think.

MALE: Kaidan, Jacob, Thane, Steve, Garrus

I wouldn't include Thane into that list because the romance content was so minimal. So if you import your character then Kaidan, Steve and Garrus and Kaidan is optional as well as Ashley.

How did ME fans reacted to Steve and Samantha?

After seeing the new trailer I have come to the conclusion that Sera is almost definitely an LI. And while Cassandra is definitely still my number 1 choice I must say that Sera would easily be the most physically attractive female romance option Bioware has ever made. In fact, throw away the "female" in that statement as well as well. I mean... wow.

DHMG actually surprised me. I thought he was fugly as hell is the concept art but that in game model is really quite hot. The fact he is shorter than the elf helps. Cole on the other hand is the new Carver. Herp derp.

I can't imagine there's only 1 playable charakter for straight and gay/lesbian people plus Cullen and Scribe Girl being bisexual NPC's, It 'd be a step backwards to only have one companion as LI for each sexual orientation. Honestly, I wouldn't like that... I know, there are people who like the idea of having a NPC romance, but if this means there are less playable companion romances, it's not a good deal I think... That's why I hope, theres one straight, one bisexual and one gay/lesbian ompanion, and Cullen and Scribe Girl as "extra romances".

I counted everyone I could think of. Me striking out Jacob's name was just being spiteful.  They all happened, even if some were pretty bad.

Indeed. Steve was well done as well.

There wasn't any complaints that she could be romanced only by women?

I don't think Cortez and Traynor would get a comparable reaction to major companion characters in a game where there will likely only be one other companion LI option. It's easy to not care when it's just a side NPC and you have a full set of a companion LIs.

I'm sure there were; she's pretty and likeable and there were probably more than a few guys who wanted their male Sheps to romance her. But overall everyone was satisfied with her being a lesbian NPC romance.

Diana, on the other hand...

The only bad thing with Steve or Sam is they weren't in the first ME. >.> If they were, they'd have the same amount of romance content as the others and they could be easily popular LI's... ah well, i liked Sam's romance, except the... shower thing.

Allers has been Snooki to me since I read that joke list of ME3 romances on here a while back. I'll never get it out of my head now. XD

True that but I wouldn't say Garrus and Kaidan are full set of companion LIs what comes to romance options for straight females. But I didn't have any problems for the fact that Steve was gay.

Well, two is basically a "full set", I'd say. We're not likely to get more than two in Inquisition. In fact, we may only get one companion choice per sexuality.

Well if you compare the options for straight female to options for straight male what comes to LIs then I wouldn't call it a full set in that context. I don't think there is only one LI per sexuality in DAI. However it is possible that for example straight females get only one option but I see it very unlikely.

If they do 2/2/2, then it's basically a requirement that some people will only get one option. I mean, even if it's just Cullen and the female LIs are all three female companions, one demographic at least will have to deal with only one companion option. There's no other way to stretch it.

The only way is either not having 2/2/2 or having sexuality restrictions, but more like 6+ companion LIs.

There is a screenshot showing what appears to be Leliana in one of the party camps, and the three "advisor" NPC's are important enough to stand alongside the companions in the group picture.

Your acting like the NPC romances compared to the companion romances will be like bread and butter compared to a banquet, but nothing we have seen indicates that this will be the case.

I don't see how it's that much different seeing them at "camp" than seeing them at "skyhold"? How has much changed?

I hope it will be 2/2/2 simply because it's the only way I see myself being able to romance DHMG, Vivienne and Solas.

If that means I have to make multiple male playthroughs to romance one of those fellows, then so be it! Hopefully the male Inquisitor will be a lot more appealing than the male Warden. I did enjoy male Hawke a lot.

If it was four LIs, I think Vivienne would out of the running since we already have a serious human female LI (who may be a 'defrosting ice queen'). Meanwhile DHMG would be out of the running because we have a human male (unless Cullen was a fifth, like Sebastian). I can't have that!

Well, you'll likely be able to see them more often than you would if they only stayed at the Skyhold, wouldn't you? That seems to be the biggest complaint about NPC romances. Hopefully they did a better job of it this time than in ME3.

It shows that they are out on the field with you.

It means that you do not need to return to Skyhold to speak to them, that you will potentially see them every time you enter a Keep or set up camp in one of the areas. Hear banter between them and companions about the particular area or current events. It even opens up the possibility of special diplomatic or spy missions involving them out in the world.

The bottom line, unfortunately, for romances is that there is literally no way for Bioware to please everyone.  They had to make a decision and go with it.  We're still not sure what that decision is, remember, so it feels a bit premature for people to be as disappointed as they are.  Let's wait and see what they come up with and then the people who are disappointed by the outcome (and there will be people, I'm sure) will have some legitimate facts to support their disappointment.  For now, what we know is that Cassandra and Cullen are LI's.  And that NPC romances are on the table.  That's.......pretty much it.
