Still deserves to die for all the pain she's caused.
Bullshit. She f*cked up. It's what people do in life. I'm not gonna kill her for it.

Um, she could have given Hawke the book to give to the Arishok and avoided all that bloodshed.
Isabela is the only LI i like tbh. Merrill is cute and all but i prefer her as my Hawke's best friend.
Nah. i have a hunch that her stds have mutated her skin to the point that she's extremely resistant to fire, dragon fire too.
Um, she could have given Hawke the book to give to the Arishok and avoided all that bloodshed.
I still stand by my comment.
I think my Hawke barely knew Sebastian but didn't really dislike him. He was kinda just....there. That describes his role in the game pretty well until the end.
I felt pretty bad when he asked me whether I'd still be "waffling" about killing Anders if Sebastian had been in that Chantry when it blew up. I was like "....uhhhhhhh.....maybe?"
I wouldn't be waffling, but he shouldn't take that as reassurance. ![]()

Arishok deserved to get his head lobbed off. My hawke's were quite happy for her to keep the book.
But did the at least dozens of people killed by his rampage deserve it though?
I will say, though, that I still wouldn't kill Isabela over the issue. I'm pissed, but I still wouldn't kill her if I didn't have to. We might just have to take a best friend break and see other sarcastic flirts. lol

This.

For me it's more like my PC kills thousands of people in these games without always knowing their back stories and motivations so can I really play the morality game and kill other characters over it? When others kill people in video games I can't bring myself to care too much even if they were innocent game people
Aka why I can easily still like characters like Loghain and Anders and Isabela even if I recognize the bad stuff they did. As long as my PC or future PCs can fix the train-wreck in some way and I can find the characters relatively likable and interesting, everything's cool.
Yikes we've gone off topic. So, how about them romances we know nothing about? ![]()

I'd have given her to Aveline to be imprisoned and eventually executed. She is directly responsible for the razing of Kirkwall.

Blame the idiot Dumar for the qunari disaster. Why should Isabela have to give away the book.
Because that was the reason the Qunari were staying in Kirkwall. The moment they get the book, either with Isabela as a prisoner or Arishok killed, they leave since the demand of the Qun for that book was met.
I've never liked the interpretations of DA2 being entirely a story Varric was telling. Him telling the story was a good framing device, but I like to think that 95% of what we see is what happened.
Otherwise, the game just becomes even more irrelevant than it already is.
I absolutely loathe the Unreliable Narrator point of view for DA2. In a roleplaying game where my choices matter, our experiences and what we see upon our screens should be the reality we weave, not capable of changing and being made up on the whims of a third party. Or else it just feels like nothing matters and everything is suspect and irrelevant to me.
Maybe it's just easier to recognize that a good portion of our DA companions thus far have been relatively terrible people. No use dwelling on it. ![]()

Well, I blame Petrice a bit more for causing the situation to escalate so dramatically.

Never liked Isabella. After our first talk in DAO I already was so annoyed with her I wished I could kill her. Learning that she was going to be a companion in DA2 sure soured my mood...
Still, I respect her as a warrior, woman. But not as a person
So, on the topic of romances, who are the characters you'd be most surprised to discover are LIs?
Aveline and Isabela's relationship was so terrible, as it only consisted of insults.
My best friends and I insult each other all the time lol
I actually really loved the relationship between Aveline and Isabela, particularly when they were good friends in Act 3.

I'd be surprised if Varric, IB, or GW turn out to be romanceable.

Word.

I understand why you'd feel that way, honestly. I tend to look towards redemption as an optimistic outcome. I understand why some people might think Isabela is more of a risk left free than she is a benefit. I think by the end of DA2 she was fairly reformed, though. I do still find what she did to be appalling on a level that very few other companions reach, for me. I can't begin to justify it. Killing her is just one more dead person, though. It doesn't bring anyone back. Alive, her skills could save a lot of people, if that's how she were to apply them.
Although, I don't really blame her for Kirkwall. I blame her for the slaves, because that was her choice. I don't blame her for the Arishok's decision to attack Kirkwall, just like I don't blame Anders for Meredith's choice to annul the circle. Another figure in a power position choosing to overreact in a violent way that they were looking for a reason to justify, anyway, is not down to their individual choice. That's on the Arishok and Meredith for adding to the problem. They had a chance to be the calmer head and they pissed it away. It's on them now.
