It's Isabella's fault Arishok was stuck in the Kirkwall, it's Anders' fault no authority was alive there to stop Meredith from using RA.
You may try to justify their acts but in the end, it was their selfishness or madness which got hundreds if not thousands of people killed in a slaughter.
Dying is the least they can do to pay for these tragedies.
That's why I personally despise Isabella, Morrigan and don't feel bad for killing or kicking out Anders. They all are selfish, putting their little desires ahead of people's lives. Generally we have teams full of soldiers, murderers and criminals in both games. Yet I know for sure that if times comes, most of them will sacrifice themselves for the greater good: country, duty, world, peace. They have an honour. Even Zevran comes to Fereldan to die because he feels guilty.
Isabella and Morrigan? No, for them their hides is what matters the most. And Anders... Well, he knows he deserves it

Part of the problem (for me, at least) is that despite what David said, I didn't quite get that vibe from Cole. I didn't even think of him as being necessarily childlike. My only caveat with him being a romance for people, prior to David stepping in, was that he isn't even technically alive. He is a spirit, an entity from the other side of the Veil, and one who has utilized blood magic through killing people.
The blood magic and all that really don't bother me, honestly.
Even without David saying what he said, after Asunder, I see him as a broken child and romancing him would be, for me, taking advantage of that.. and I just couldn't

True. He too struck me as very young, but not nearly as childlike as David suggested.

In any case, too young for me at least. Merrill naivete (and not her looks) made it hard for me to romance her until about six months ago. If Cole is even more child-like than her, I'd feel icky romancing him. He brought out feelings of being a little brother to me, much like how I felt about Merrill for the longest time. And Merrill is an adult in mind, despite how naive she is. After reading Asunder all the way until the end, I still think he'd be too young in spirit (pun no intended) to romance.
I do agree that his status as "unknown" as contributes to that.

The romance system and most of the love interests are still up in the air, so I thought we could use a dedicated speculation thread to discuss all things romance related. For example;-Who do you think the love interests will be?-Who do you want the love interests to be?-What sort of love interests would you like to see in the future?-What system do you think they'll use and what system do you want? (playersexual, bisexual, some vague combination, 2/2/2, other restrictions)-How many love interests do you think there will be?-NPC romances; Do you think we'll get them? Do you want them? How do you think they'd work?
1: I think the Male LI will be Cullen(confirmed as we all know), and Solas. Then for the Female LI I think will be Cassandra (confirmed as we all know), and Sera.
2: The above plus Iron Bull, and Scribbles.
3. I think we need to have some more angsty or well not even that, maybe more of a challenging romance to get but pays off. Like the rival-love-system or whatever it was called said that the love with a companion who you had more of a rival relationship would be darker or more passionate rather than all fairy tail. I believe that system has been proven false but hey it would be cool ![]()
4. Playersexual or Bisexual
5. 6
6. We all know by now that we will get them, and I myself do want them as long as they are just as good as actual companion romances. I think they will work the same as companion romances or I at least hope so ![]()

My favorite DG quote from that:
Yeah, one should not really equate naiveté (or whatever other personality characteristics you consider immature) with Cole. It's explicitly stated that Cole sees people in the tower having sex, and doesn't understand it--there's no concept of arousal, not to mention the social under-development he otherwise displays. If that doesn't impact you, and you really think you could "teach" him to understand these things... ummm, okay. Shine on, you crazy diamonds.

My favorite DG quote from that:
His initial incredulous response kinda of p*ssed me off a tad. In hindsight, after very careful analysis I see it, but initially, I didn't think it was as explicit as he seemed to think, and I nearly called him out on it. Clearly it hadn't been quite explicit enough, cause not many people had seemed to pick up on it in that thread, myself included.

I just finished that quest (as in, about two hours ago,) and it wasn't that simple. She felt it would be dishonorable to just steal his ship from his dead body. It wasn't that she didn't think we could wipe the floor with him, it was some sort of weird pirate code of honor I guess.
It was before that, actually, all her handwringing and wibbling about him, that made me all "Jesus, woman, settle down." Also it wasn't that it was dishonorable, it's that it gave her better bragging rights. ![]()

I always got a very child like vibe from Cole. The way he experiences almost all of his emotions were the way a child experienced them; the shame, the fear, the determination. Everything he felt was felt as a child feels it, everything he did was done as a child would do it; both his honesty at admitting things he probably shouldn't, and the way he out and out threw tantrums out of fear of the templars, and how he tracked down Rhys to warn him of something that he would have been able to handle, anyway.
That being said, I had actually seen David Gaider refer to Cole as having the mentality of a child before I read the book, so I suppose I was looking at it through that lens.

I don't know, I haven't read the book yet, but I hear tales of a twist at the end? And we aren't clear on how long it's been between Asunder and The Inquisition. Oh well, maybe in the next game after he's matured a bit?

Possibly. I don't think the ending is necessarily a "twist", but rather an evolution of the character. It's best if you read it to understand what's going on. And at most, I'd put a few months between Asunder's end and the start of DAI.

We were discussing Gaider's rationale about him not being an LI. Just roll with it lol. It's over now.

Yep. He said that Cole has the mind of a child so he's not going to be an LI.
