Uh-oh, now I'm kinda feeling like a pervert. *goes for the mandibles!*
No really, is it strange to be attracted to alien races? Hmmm....
Well, I'm sure a lot of people would be, if they existed to our knowledge. Pansexuals would be, but I'm sure there would be people that are only attracted to one gender, also. Maybe they would even be attracted to the opposite gender that they usually are in humans. But that's what I mean by "strange territory". Not so much strange that people would be, as that it would make us rethink sexuality as we know it now.
Actually, that's not how I read it. What he said is that the character concepts they came up and decided to go with this time around happened to be mostly male, and that he didn't see what the concern over female representation was about since there were plenty of important female NPCs.
That the bold part and change female for any sexual preference now...
Would it have been better for Thane to have died from the illness rather than murdered?
I can't say. It is highly subjective. My point, however, is that an outside factor again dictated the route of the romance without a player's ability to change anything. Twice in one game. Everyone knew when starting Thane's romance that he had an illness. His likely death from illness was not wholly unexpected. Being murdered is unexpected. And in general, there is very little content for Thanemance, moreso since his appearance in the game is cut short by said murder. These scenarios do not happen in any manner for a straight DudeShep/male players.

To each one's own
I also liked Wrex and Sten, who made a point of not liking you early in the game. The difference is they couldn't make you feel unwelcome since you were the one who accepted to take them in. I guess I just like a challenge.

Well yes, but Miranda can die easily, right? But then again, femShep and gay Sheps got a short straw.
Oh an no, male straight Shepard can not romance Tali, Jack, Miranda if they haven't been romanced before.
You can only start relationships with Liara or Ashley (if she is dead, then it is Liara only).
But it was their own fault, really, for the way they handled his relationship with FemShep.
It went from her creeping on him, and him being deeply disinterested, to him being suddenly kind of into her? all while intimating stupid **** like him not being good enough for Miranda (but he is good enough for Shepard?) and then the cheesy love scene. Oh, and the horrifying loyalty mission that is triggering and problematic- it was all so discomfiting.
But even if they were doing it because or "resources", it was still a crap move (and, again, super problematic). There were people who actually liked him, and his romance, and BW basically invalidated their like towards him by making him the kind of ******* who would skip out on his girlfriend at the first sign of trouble and knock up another woman. The resources they devoted to his having to explain why he had a pregnant girlfriend could have easily been used as closure for the romance- it's not like he completely disappears from the rest of the game.
Yessss exactly.
For whatever reason, Jacob seemed the best match for my ultra boring goody-goody (but canon!) lady Shepard, seeing as how he was ultra boring and goody-goody himself. And to give the poor dude a chance, I used him on every single damn mission in her "canon" playthrough, and as it turned out, he could be pretty funny sometimes and aside from Shepard having the worst case of Cougar Voice I'd ever heard, their conversations were sort of interesting. By the end of that playthrough, I had some appreciation for the dude, and while I totally expected him to have the least devoted to him of the LIs in ME3, I was okay with that and totally ready to pick him over Kaidan (also boring and goody-goody! Sally Shepard had a TYPE.).
All I expected was a brief "we're still cool, rite?" scene and perhaps a good bye in the home stretch. Instead I got a bizarre character assassination and no ability (until the Citadel DLC) to even react properly to it.

Miranda can die, but you can change it. Cortez can also die, but you can change it. Thane dies no matter what. Very different.

No not really. If i put in for a lip lock, I'm not going to want to feel the pain. I prefer the soft gentle feeling of human lips. What can i say the mood away the moment it gets painful.

Miranda's actually the hardest squadmate to kill in ME2.

Well, I'm also sure a lot of people couldn't deal with it, and that would also be pretty normal. Probably even the majority, considering how many standards we have just for our own species aesthetics. lol
i'm hoping sera is an LI and likes girls, so i can pursue an f/f romance that is also elf/elf, since we missed out on that with merrill since we had to be human in da2.
This is the only thing that interests me about romancing this character. Probably b/c we know nothing about her.
It would be the first elf/elf f/f romance, surprisingly.
i have nothing against scribbles, but i don't want the lesbian LI (if there even is one) to be an npc again... i really want a lesbian companion. and if scribbles were to be bi then that would mean cass would probably be straight, which would be a sad day for not only myself but many other girls . . .
Agree x100

I see what you mean.

Both Sten and Wrex could blossom into buddies you had a rapport with, though. With Jacob the wall never really comes down, to me.
"Hey Jacob what's your favorite color?"
"Whoa -- hey man, I don't know you. Back off. You know who else used to ask me what my favorite color was? The Illusive Man. Yeah. I'm tired of this invasive sh*t."

...... and she got killed by a stupid space ninja named Kai Lame... A+ writing there. ![]()
Think of the benefits. Jacob is the ONLY LI you can literally slap in the face ![]()
Not if you get the Citadel DLC.
Pfft we were supposed to have drinks right after coming back out of the Omega 4 Relay to celebrate winning in spite of all the "political BS" and have some "soldier on and rub it in their faces" bonding and whatnot. Not bump into each other while Jacob is babysitting and play a completely un-Collector-victory-themed arcade game.
Besides I try to pretend ME3 Jacob doesn't exist. It's kinder.

Heavy risk, but....
Won't lie, my last time through ME2 (romanced no one in ME2 run through), I considered sending Jacob into the suicide tube. But it felt wrong to punish THAT Jacob for Alternate Universe Jacob's sins.

Well, he DID ask to go in that tube.
(And Miranda DID say she was capable of holding that biotic field, top Cerberus operatives for ya)
I found Jacob so bland, his replacement in ME3 had more charisma.

Heh. It's like after Freedom's Progress he and Miranda completely switch personalities.
I found "tolerable" romancing Jacob with a very mean renegade shepard that dumped him later for Thane. Not going to do it ever again, but that way was not absolutely awful. I have to say though, that I didn't find garrus or thane romances much better than jacob's in ME2. Just my personal taste, but I didn't like much hearing Garrus say that he wasn't really attracted to shepard (it was a little like, "ok, what I'm doing here then?" but went on with it just out of curiosity) and I liked even less hearing thane talk about how much he loved another woman and even less yet his "sex" scene... But, well, it's true that with Garrus and Thane at least I don't hate the way my own Shepard behaves (oh, that "I'm more interested in talking for a bit" line
)
I find DA romances much nicer, in general, at least for a straight female PC, and it also has the only f/f romance I really enjoy (Isabella)

I thought Garrus said he isn't attracted to humans, but Shepard is different. Of course that made the lack of an S/S romance all the stranger.
