Moving away from selection and choices for a bit:
Anyone else worried that the flirt line wont sound like something your PC would say?

 

I mean I loved that DA2 had the romance lines change at times for the personality Hawke had.

I just worry that sometimes the only way to start a romance is to say something out of character for the Inquisitor.

 

Or even worse, having to take it because that is your only chance to start a romance.

 

To early to tell but I do wonder how the romances will start this time.

 

There is no "personality system" like in DA2 from what I understand, that probably mean that flirt options are "unique" with no variation (unless they get affected by something else, like the companion's disposition toward you or how you responded to a certain event).

 

I expect terrible romance "pick-up" lines....

Well, it's more your character has a set voice tone. You can be snarky, but your voice won't become automatically snarky as a result.

Quizzy: -shrugs- Who knows how much time we have to live, gotta strike will the burner's hot.

Or like that awkward moment... your Sarcastic Hawke has just made love and while you enjoy being goofy in general, perhaps now is not the time... and as you, the player, sit there and feel your heart melt from the adulation your pixelated lover has just given you, your character's response is...

I hope the pick-up lines are deliberately cheesy if we play as a snarky!Quizzy. They'll all probably be vaguely embarrassing because PCs in Bioware games never tend to be smooth, but let the snarky version at least be deliberate.

As much as I like Sheploo's face compared to the quality of CC male Sheps, that animation (among others) was terrible. I don't recall how it was with other male Shep though.

Since that was actually a really cool part of DAO and DA2.

 

Mostly since seeing those, made it seem like romances were not just character to PC interactions. 

Like having Varric mention each of the LI was awesome.

At the recent PAX the devs stated that followers will comment about the romance between the Inquisitor and his/her LI.

It's not as bad as it could be, since it's not actually said during (or very near) sex. But otherwise, it's just about as bad as you imagine.

Hi, um... All of this. ALL. This is EXACTLY how I feel about male Shep/Kaidan. My (unrealistic) hope is that Inquisition manages to pull something off as sweet as that pairing. I know they've only got one game to work with instead of three, but man, I hope they try. Male Shep and Kaidan are probably the biggest reason that the ME franchise stands out like a beacon for me amongst all the other games, with the exception of Dragon Age.

 

 

Huh, really?? Well that's a shame, if it's true. I think a "struggling with sexuality" story would be really great. Not sure how well it would fit into the world of Thedas - where we've never, ever seen anyone persecuted for their sexuality in the first place. But still, I would highly enjoy something like that.

 

I really wish my brother would post on these boards to offer his thoughts. He recently said he feels like the only gay man who did not like Kaidan/mShep.   He said despite the fact that mShep had originally been planned to have a m/m ship since the first game it felt  like fan service to him  and he wished the mshep/Kaidan  dialogue had been different than it was for femShep/Kaidan.    It just really disappointed him.   

 

He liked his Cortez playthrough better  and enjoyed his playthrough as a femShep romancing Garrus.

 

 

He has an account here...I have been BEGGING him to post since he reads the boards and I can tell he wants to reply to some of these posts but he doesn't want the backlash for his ideas being different.    

 

Maybe I will try bribing him to post.
