Morrigan does wait for you at the Eluvian in Witch Hunt, but you can only go with her if you're a dude that romanced her, so I guess it only helps much if she was your LI.
Yeah that could be easily seen as non altrustic as well. I'm not the biggest Morrigan fan though so 
it just bugs the hell out of me when people go "but it's such an easy choice!" it really isn't if you don't see Morrigan as someone who can be trusted.
But Cole won't be an LI. And Gaider wrote Alistair, Zevran, Morrigan and Shale for DA:O. Him writing 3 companions would hardly be astonishing. Also, when asked about which food Iron Bull was, Weekes said he wouldn't reveal it for his character and he wouldn't want to reveal somebody else's without his permission. Maybe Kirby forgot to ask Weekes before she tweeted about Solas, but I just have a feeling it isn't him based on that.
I wouldn't bet any money on this of course, its just the way I see the "evidence" points to Solas being more likely as the gay LI than mustache. Maybe I'm just misinterpreting hope as surety.
I think it's likely that Gaider re-wrote Cullen as his second LI.
But I think Solas is an LI. I just don't see any evidence of him being gay and I don't think Gaider as his writer makes it more likely.
I think Solas could easily have a connection with The Masked Empire, though, which makes me suspect Weekes.
If she actually cared about the warden surviving all the time she'd told them in the beginning or during the landsmeet. Morrigan was out for number one. Saving the warden was just a side effect (a pleasant one if they're friends).
Remember she even offers the ritual at -100 and leaves no matter how high your affection is. The ritual was the reason she was there.
It isn't about Morrigan being the picture of altruism, it's the fact that it's not her fault that you're in the situation you're in. And she doesn't owe you anything. It's a bigger question why Duncan doesn't tell you everything you should know, especially when there's so few Wardens in Ferelden. And for my Warden, it wouldn't have changed anything for him at that point. For him, as a mage, being a Grey Warden was freedom.

Never said she owed my warden anything simply saying that's why she's there and it's not as simple as she wanted to save the PC's life so the PC "should" be grateful to her for it is meh to me (That's the vibe I got from you. If it's wrong my bad). Though agreed about Duncan. And Riordan really. The whole landsmeet is a case of people passing the idiot ball.
Fair enough my mage felt being a GW was just as much a cage as a circle prettier and less confining but a cage all the same.

But it is an easy choice.
The worst that can happen is that, what, you get a pure evil eldritch abomination whose only goal is the complete eradication of life? To even have Morrigan's plan succeed you've already had to kill one of those. If the DR goes back, it's just one more skull added to the throne. That's, to me, the "no downside" part of it. If there's any chance for the plan to succeed, then the DR just won't generate that much of a threat.

Gaider only mentioned writing two followers (Cassandra + unknown) among his different tweets last year. He also mentioned he wrote romances, but that doesn't means one can't be a NPC...

I usually loathe when NPCs clone my PCs hair, but I really, really want that hairstyle for the PC. It bugged the hell out of me Carth's style his own in KoTOR.
