XD It's not bad but I got too used to Fem SW, male agent and male SI. Also god male Consular was really phoning it in. Female is better but I'm not overly fond of either.
And here we part ways (which, whatever, it's just the consulars). Both consulars are being super-boring zen, but male Consular at least sounds like he might've had a filthy emotion or two in his life (if you pick the jerky-seeming responses, he can be a total snob, which makes me laugh. He's wound up being one of those insufferable Jedi that does the right thing but is a total douche about it.), the female Consular sounds completely dead inside to me. Her romance with Lt. Boyfriend is tragic, because he is SO INTO HER and she ... sounds exactly the same as when she's droning at any other person at any other point in time.
I think my favorite Republic VA is actually the male smuggler. I didn't like him a whole lot at first, but then something happened and he just cracks me up. I like the female smuggler too, but she has the Corso Issue. I hate Corso Riggs.

I never play dudes, it feels so weird to me playing a dude and romancing a girl... and if i ever do a dude, i'll go and romance another male instead.
Though, the fact that there are 95% of games that have dudes as protagonists, makes it even worse. >.>
Also, guys, be nice to ladyHawke....
And sassyMarian is the best Hawke.
When it comes to a voiced protag it needs to match up with my 'inner' voice. and because my inner voice is on the male side, the protage needs to be male. however if it is voiceless then i can play woman characters.
However for the longest time I played female characters in MMO's tho I think that was more for "if i'm going to be looking at a character for 100+ hours of grinding I want something nice to look at"
with SWTOR, I played males (yes I tried with females just never felt right).
With games like Skyrim, it was pretty much 50/50 (tho my males generally ended up being werewolves, where the females ended up vampires)
Tho I have no issues playing RPGs where the main protag is female. Cause generally in those games I find myself more or less watching it like watching a movie. I mean I think the reboot of Tomb Raider was great, seeing the "origin" story of her becoming a badass was fun. I mean it was alittle cliche but, after getting lost in TVtropes for HOURS, you end up finding out that 99% of everything is cliche

I hate voiceless protags. It's one of the reasons why i was bored in DAO most of times.... prefer my protag to voice emotions than being a dead fish.
Amen.

I usually play female characters in RPGs, because I want to experience the game from the character point of view. If I play male characters I find that harder to achieve.

I enjoy having the *choice* of whether I can play as a woman or a dude. I prefer playing women as my canon/first run characters, because women protagonist heroines are still a rare thing in the media
I think female hero protagonists in TV are actually waaaaay more common than male ones these days. At least when it comes to fantasy or sci-fi. There are exceptions, such as ''Grimm'', but most shows have female leads. Continuum, Once upon a Time + spinoff, Orphan Black, Nikita, True Blood, etc. etc. and those are just some of the recent ones. The 00's are chock full of them as well.
Saying women are underrepresented is completely false.
I play both genders with no problem, can't understand why someone would struggle with it. It's not a big deal.

Voiced protags are way, way, way more enjoyable to me when I like the voice, but they could also pretty easily screw things up for me if the voice didn't sound right for the character I was going for. It hasn't been a problem for me yet, though.

Yeah, that damn website ruined my life. Now when a show introduces magical babies and such I go ''really? this trope again?'' And I keep dividing casts up into the ''band of 5'' format.

I never have issues playing man or woman, gay/straight/bi, good/bad etc.
Been RPing in games since I was like 12.
I do have issue with playing romances when none of the lines fit my character RP.
Or when the voice sounds really bad for the scene.
Hopefully we get to hear at E3 the two voice options.

In DA2, I had about half female, half male, but I preferred male. I preferred him for exactly the reason that some have already stated. Nicolas was much better at being "subtle" between the different tones, so I could mix up my dialogue choices more. Jo, while a fine VA, had extremely distinct tones. Start changing those up, and my PC becomes "Sybil".

I know this has been brought up before, but I still like the idea of all the LI's being Bisexual/Pansexual (since those ARE set sexualities), and then our non-LI's showing some representation of gay/straight/asexual. Since I don't expect more than four to six LI's, but we have nine companions and three very important advisors, there is more than enough room to show lots of different types of characters (and NOT just sexual preferences either.....obviously.
Anyway, just my .02.

I would have greatly preferred this also. Here's hoping they'll consider doing something similar in the future. ![]()
