I have been quiet on the subject but this is my honest to goodness guess (not preferences)
Cassandra: Bisexual
Cole: Non-romanceable
Cullen: Straight
Dorian/DHMG: Gay
Gray Warden: I want to say Gay, but I am not entirely sure.
Iron Bull: Bisexual/Qunari Only
Leliana: Non-romanceable
Scribbles: Straight
Sera: Bisexual (Possibly Lesbian)
Solas: Bisexual
Varric: Bisexual/Dwarf only
Vivienne: Lesbian
Varric.... Bisexual? I don't think so.
I never got the problem people who romanced Alistair had with the DR.
If the situation was reversed; if the only way I could save my girlfriend's life was by letting her have a one night stand with another man, it wouldn't be a decision. I'd do it in a heartbeat.
It's not 'letting her have sex,' it's 'pressuring her into having sex with a man she's not interested in.'
If the scenario were gender-flipped, BioWare would get all sorts of crap for putting women in a position where their choice is to have sex with someone or die.
Honestly the BSN would have imploded

Yeah, he is Bianca-sexual.

This. Plus with the whole pregnancy thing? Pfft.
I really wish it had been gender flipped. As it is it's brushed off often with the customary "oh it's a hot chick and all dudes wanna have sex with hot chicks." type of attitude.

There's always a choice of not having sex and not dying.

Yeah by letting Alistair take the bullet instead or recruiting Loghain and having him do it. That doesn't make it any less dub con.

Yes it does. You have a choice.
Yes it does. You have a choice.
Which is why it's dub con and not fully blown non con. That's not making it less squicky in the least. A choice between getting your hand cut off or being smashed to bits on a train is hardly a fair choice.

It is, because you are presented with such a choice only because you are altruistic. If you cared only about your personal well being, you wouldn't face any downsides.

How is preganancy and giving you child after replacing it's soul with that of an old god to a clearly emotionally stunted person not a downside? There's a difference in not caring about said downside and it being there.
Plus if you only cared about your own well being clearly the best choice is recruiting Loghain or feeding Alistair to it and ignoring the DR entirely.
Morrigan expresses want to have sex with a Warden or else someone will die. You need to pressure and persuade Alistair to engage in sex he does not want to do with someone he does not like -- or else there will be (someone's) death. It falls into the area of coercion.
Thank you.
I'm just saying it'd be more blatantly squicky if Morrigan was a guy and Alistair a female.

I really hope they're not race restricted. While I do plan on playing both of those races I kind of like the height differences caused if I romanced varric as a qunari or IB as a dwarf.

No, you don't get it. If the relationship between the Warden and Alistair was more important to them than saving lives they would screw the bight and leave it to other wardens to sort out, while they would travel somewhere far away to enjoy themselves. Besides no one would even look for them, they are considered dead at Ostagar. If stopping the blight is more important for someone than their personal happiness, they shouldn't complain for the price that they have to pay.

So basically for not picking an option that's not even in the game I should be perfectly fine with the DR? Really? *That's* your arguement? ![]()

Dropping for a second the fact that the plot has to work.. One of the reasons such a choice still isn't there is because Alistair is not a person that would do such a thing, he even considers dumping the Warden for King duties. You pick who you romance, and your romance is not more important than stopping the blight.

Yep don't know why I came back to this. If you honestly think the squickness only comes because the warden's romancing him then
and otherwise who even said their romance was more important than stopping the blight? Where are you even coming from with that nonsense?

I thought it was squicky and didn't romance Alistair.
I always liked the Redeemer ending myself. Everyone wins! (except Loghain...Morrigan too I guess...no babeh).
And today on the BSN I learned the term 'squicky' and saw it used in a sentence.

Wait what does doing the DR have to do with stopping the blight? If anything it's just making it easier for blights to happen again because instead of destroying the soul you're moving it somewhere else.

I think the worst part of the whole DR thing is how they sexified the scene with it. When I choose to do it, I skip the cut-scene because I find it terribly gross as Alistair isn't really keen on the whole thing.

Really? The dirty bastard is grinning the entire time.

If stopping the blight is important for them, maybe they stop clutching the idiot ball and don't attack the literally impossible to defeat darkspawn horde with only 2 GWs. If both of them take an arrow to the skull, then everything in Ferelden dies and the GWs are that much weaker. Instead of uselessly staying in Ferelden, abandoning the entire country or gathering more GWs is the sensible option. Staying to make a "difficult" sacrifice is the Riordan-plan - committing suicide by jumping off a tower but somehow having it work out through sheer fluke.
