that's what I had read too. but it was some time ago. I hope for the chance to speak when we want to the companions, like in ME1/2 and DAO, without "appointment" as in DA2 or ME3...sometimes I find cute to listen again some dialogue. expecially after a long pause from the game.

An old DG post makes it sound more like ME1 - we will have the option to initiate some conversations at our leisure.

If I'm remember this right, I believe the last news on this was that you would be able to talk to them about anything the story had unlocked thus far whenever you wanted, but only at certain places. I assume camps and/or Skyhold. Basically, I think it'll be like Origins was, except you'll probably have to wait for "camp" to talk instead of being able to do so out in the field whenever.

It's actually fine with me, because I ended up accidentally talking to companions all the time while trying to loot bodies or disarm traps. It got kind of annoying. lol

*clicks on dead body to loot* ...*instead clicks on Sten*

Sten: Why are we stopping?

Me: Uuuuh I wasn't trying to talk to you....  <_<

Yeah that gets a bit annoying at times lol

me too. It wasn't exactly great having Leliana starting to speak about the sexual life of my warden and Alistair when we where all covered in blood.

That would be my prefer approach. dialogue about what and when we want but without having interference during the fight.

I would be more than happy with this solution.

So it seem possible to have a more slow paced romance. One thing I liked in DAO was the chance to make the romance advance slowly. :)

I'm hoping that there would be different romances and if there are no gender restrictions then I'll hope that the romances will be different according to your gender. If there are gender restriction then I'll hope that everyone will have options. But I think everyone will have at least one option. I don't think it's a problem if everyone won't have equal amount of LIs if the equal amount of LIs don't fit the story. Same goes for content with the LIs some LIs might have more content and some might have less.

I'm not sure how much more content will you get if you romance somebody. Is it like couple of scenes more and some party banter and otherwise it's like a friendship. That way it could be possible to have more LI options. That way it could be possible to add more restrictions to the relationships  and that way also to romance options. For example you could never become friends with a templar if you are a blood mage and that way you could never romance that person.

Haha, no kidding. I had Zevran start his emotional speech about learning to be in love in the middle of a dungeon once. It was super awkward. Like, "I appreciate your sentiments, but do we really have to do this HERE? Did the angry zombies twelve foot in front of us just make it impossible for you to contain your romantic intentions any longer?"

Duckley, Kain, drop the tangent and get back on topic, please.

Now as to DAI romances, it makes sense that there would be symmetry in NPC LIs, no? So Scribbles would be another LI.

I do believe I made one post on this subject.

I cant speak to the original intent of the other posters that were engaged in the discussion, however, my response was intended to focus on the romance/love in the relationship between my Warden and Alistair. I hope the richness of that relationship is captured in DAI. It seems that much of the discussion on this romance thread lately is about potential sexual orientation of characters in DAI. So some diversion that looks into feelings, motivations, depth of relationships, challenges that love in times of war or chaos creates is worthy no?
in Addition, Alistair is rmoured to have a cameo and we know Morrigan also plays a part in DAI. So is not reference to that fair game?

I'm hoping we'll get Cullen and Scribbles as NPC LIs and they'll both be bi for overall fairness/symmetry issues.

No thanks because if scribbles is the bi one, that would mean Cass is not.

Making romances less involved so they can offer more restrictions could not be more the opposite of what I want for the romance system. That's like the "nightmare scenario" for me.

Not sure if I like so many romances. I prefer quality over quantity.

well...when your life is in danger, you don't want regrets? XD

no. some of those conversation really started way too casually... :D bt I liked when I could ask Leliana if she knew something about the places we where (she almost didin't knew anything, but stil...)

I understand why it's not ideal, but some people aren't going to get the option they wanted no matter. I'm more invested now in just hoping everyone gets equal options as far as content and companion LI choices, goes. If the NPC choices aren't bi, it means one group only gets one companion LI and another gets two. That would be pretty unfair, so I hope they don't do that.

I want companion romance choice so my desire is for 7-8 Li's now to enable that to actually still exist, whereas before the orientation gating news i was quite happy with the notion of 4. I do worry about whether the quality might suffer though.

This is why I still think all bi was a way better system.

Is it that bad that you can't romance somebody because of your actions?

It's bad that romances have less content in this scenario.

Same, though I prefer them being sexually ambiguous.

I'm with you on this one. More swallow romances aren't really worthwhile content (like, IMO, ME2).

I'd rather your actions determine romances than gender.

I like a mix of confirmed bi/ambiguous, but either works for me, really.

Yeah, DA2 did that well with Isabela and Anders being the known bi and Fenris and Merrill being the ambiguous. I just prefer all for fairness.

I think it really does work out in an ideal way, at least for my own wants from the romance system. They could have 4-6 LIs and invest more into each one than we saw happen when ME offered a huge amount more. Everyone gets an equal option of 2-3 LI choices with at least 2 in the party. It was a great system that offered balance of choices with the ability to deeply develop romances. I still can't see the benefits of losing it.

I'll have to disagree because I enjoyed Thane and Garrus romances in ME2.
