Right now is just an awkward time for speculation. If I say that I believe in Bioware to make the fair, progressive choice and come through on 2/2/2, I'll feel stupid if it doesn't happen. If I keep up with the skepticism, I'll feel like an ungrateful jerk if it does pan out. It's basically lose/lose. lol

Instead of discussing the way it'll all divide in the end, let's discuss what sort of romance you want most? I think that'd be really fun.

I've mentioned before that I love my forever bros romance with Garrus because we were forever bros but with kissing and nookie funtimes and intense, meet me at the bar love.

I would love to have that again. Even moreso if I can have that with a lady. But even if I have to play as someone else to get it. I want a foreverbros, in it to the end romance.

I read that as 'fedorabros' and I was like Krytie, NO!!!!!!!!!!!

I see my Mage Inquisitors being best friends with Vivienne, though I don't think I'll be able to romance her, I'd be content with just the closeness of a good friendship.

I really, really want to romance Cassandra with my Lady Qunari though!

The romance with Garrus is the best Bioware has ever done. Ever. The transition from comrades to friends-with-benefits to committed lovers, the banter, the absolute trust--everything was perfect. Unfortunately it wouldn't be easy to pull off when the Inquisitor (probably) doesn't know any of his/her companions before the start of the game, but something in that vein.

Morrigan's was a great example of "Defrosting Ice Queen" that I could see working for Cassandra. Bastila/Nathyrra both had some neat Belligerent Sexual Tension going on with the male PC that would work well with...anyone, really, but probably best with IB, Sera, and Cassandra.

Those three are the types I want most. Something humorous, heartwarming and touching; something you have to work hard at; and something with sexually-attracted-fueled arguments that has sweetness sprinkled in.

I want an alpha male romance. Toss my quizzy around, fight for dominance, be protective but not over protective. I want a ain't-afraid-of-anything-take-no-****-from-anyone kind of guy, or girl. Alternatively, I want Varric. I mention him specifically because I think there would be something a little bittersweet to his romance (Bianca and all), and that's okay. I'd like it to be a matching wit for wit type romance, maybe something along the lines of one day turning to each other and going "I like you. I really like you. And that scares the hell out of me."

They say that which you hate most in other people is often found in yourself. *adjusts fedora* jkjk.

I totally want to have at least one playthrough dedicated to the awesome that is Vivienne.

IMO the best "bro" romance would either be with Varric or Cass, just because they seem like the two "main" companions, so you would spend the most time with them

I know it would never happen (I'm still expecting a miracle though) but iron bull + my male qunari mage would be a match in heaven...they can wear pink dresses and no one would EVER say a word.

random thug: "Hey you, freaks! move on!!!"

My qunari mage inquisitor: "......No"

And the slaughter begins :D

I'd like to see something where two people who mutually enjoy each other's company and share a mutual attraction decide to enter into a relationship with no guarded emotions or forced tension from nonsense arguments.

On the flip side I'd like to see a relationship with one of the npc's where a good bit of the drama comes from them worrying about your safety as you go out into life threatening situations in which they won't be there to watch your back.

Hm bro romance would be very nice.

I have a tiny adoration for romances like Quinn's where he's fully aware the PC could break him in half but he has her back and loves her anyway ~

Uh...yeah. *hides*

Since Cullen is obviously a NPC and a LI I think it is safe to assume that Scribbles will also be a LI. Likely both bi IMHO. Or possibly Cullen straight. Then Scribbles - possibly any orientation. Possibly.
So unless we'll have only two LIs from companions... Oh, who am are we kidding? Only two companions LIs? 95% unlikely

I'd really enjoy romances like these.  A sincere, candid relationship between emotional equals is incredibly appealing and would be a nice change of pace.

Your second example sounds quite realistic.  When I put myself in the npc LI's shoes I imagine that constantly worrying over the safety of the Inquisitor could overwhelm me and I might think I was better off alone (or with someone safer/more dependable) than living in a constant state of fear.  The NPC wouldn't have to follow through and permanently end the relationship, but it's a perfectly natural development in a relationship of that type.  Personally, during a past long distance relationship there were many times when it seemed like the loneliness I felt outweighed the love.  We went our separate ways but eventually reunited (which sounds an awful lot like the Fenris romance, so I'd hope skilled writers would step in and come up with something more original :P)

When I try to come up with romance or story ideas, I just thank the Maker there are talented people being paid to write this stuff!

Seriously why did they include npc romances ? ...  I would have been totally fine with set sexualities if all the LIs were companions. I'm not attracted to Cassandra ( no offense to her fans, That's just my opinion. Maybe I will change my mind because of her personality, but right now I don't feel anything for her ) and the thought that only one npc romance would be available to me is annoying me... ( scribble girl )

I want my LI to be everywhere with me.

npc romances suck.

Pretty much how I feel, but I guess if it's 2/2/2, I can deal. I'll be honest, though, I really hope they'll consider either doing 6 actual companion LIs or going back to all bi/vague next time.

I'm a big fan of NPC romances in concept for a number of reasons.

I think they open the door to stories that companion romances can't tell. I think they offer a greater variety in both LI's and companions as now you can design a LI who doesn't also have to be suitable as a companion, and design more companions who don't also have to be suitable as LI's.

I find it a bit unfair that some can have their LI at their side.

I think there's some strength to the story of having someone to come back to. I think there's value in a story where they're worried about you going into situations where they don't have your back. I think there's potential in a story where they aren't trained combatants and you are.

I don't want to see a repeat of ME3 where the gay romances get thrown in as NPC's to fill this void they had for the whole series, but NPC romances aren't, in and of themselves, a bad thing.

NPC romances can be good or bad depending on your personal preferences, which is why I don't think they should be a replacement. If they'd just added them as extras and left the whole lot open, almost no one would complain about them. If they're going to limit everyone to one companion LI, I see the offering getting a lot more flack.

Unless they always offer only bisexual NPCs, they wont even be available to everyone as an alternative and only some people will be limited to one companion LI, which is just not equal options.

I don't think NPCs are bad additions, but I think they're bad additions as a means to filling out 2/2/2.

Reminds me of Skyrim. Where I explored the world alone, and came back to my home to say hello to my " wife."  And after a few days spent with her, the hero says goodbye to his wife and his children and go travel again. " Yeah That sounded so dull, so boring. I'm talking about the concept, not the content.

I think there is a bit of difference compared to ME3. Shepard was the boss and both of NPC LIs were not soldiers
This time it seems Cullen and Scribbles will be leaders of their own parties and be almost equal allies, capable of fighting no less than any companion

Well, different tastes.

I think Skyrim is really an example of half-assing the content in regards to their "romances". There was a lot of potential there that got utterly wasted, and is a good example of spreading your resources too thin when you're on a tight time schedule.

While I thank you kindly for the compliment, I'm going to have to refuse your request as I require my head for living.

After playing Dragon Age, it was more then just romances that were disappointing. Traveling with anyone was so silent. I guess I get why they opted for no chatter but it was just so lifeless :/ I nvr brought anyone along if I could help it, it just made me sad.

Mmm, pity.  I was hoping to take a page from Steve Martin and be the Lady with Two Brains.  Your grey matter and I could've made such beautiful music.  Think of all the symphonies we won't compose.
