I was going to make all kinds of pithy jokes about unrealistic bisexuality being defined by the arbitrary standards of the Preferences in Gaming Police, but then I remembered how many people sincerely believe that bisexuality is not an actual thing and I just kind of deflated. So. Teaches me to be sarcastic.

ETA: Fortunately, Maria did it for me.

Well it's true! It's true! You're semi-bisexual. You're quasi-bisexual. You're the margarine of bisexual. You're the Diet Coke of bisexual.

Just one calorie, not bi enough.

Can't...breathe...

I'm sure many women don't, but the most popular hetero relationships in fiction are grossly unhealthy to a one.

I mean, people who dump on Twilight often look to Buffy as some sort of flawless, uber-feminist conter-argument. I'm like "Uhhh... any of you actually watch the show? Cause I seem to remember Spike being so obsessed with Buffy that he kept a robot sex-slave version of her around his gross cave. Also, I remember her having sex with him while pretending to be that robot."

Yeah, when we write our own romances they are fairly unhealthy. This attributed to many things including, the history of the romance genre which is some pretty despicable stuff, the idea once you have sex with a guy you need to marry him or you are ruined. Womens stories are how much we can take usually rather than how much we can dish out.

Also there is the whole self denigration thing of men are better than women. And finally that obsession=love, and that any time a guy wants a girl he has a right to her and just needs to whittle her down. A girl who wants a guy who doesnt like her, is usually pathetic OR he ends up a jerk not won over unless she changes. Often women ourselves dont know how to write ourselves because we are always so passive so even a main character seems like the secondary character or we overcompensate and you get a very dislikeable character.

Most media makes women objectified to a much greater degree than the men so it takes a bit of relearning to know how to imagine the opposite.

Heh.  Originally I was going to respond to Mockingword's question with a pithy: I'm sure a straight dude will be along shortly to tell us.  But then I thought the sarcasm might be too harsh.

Cassandra if she were real, the unrealistic Bisexual...
"I am Bi"
"You kissed a guy on the cheek, you cant like women"
"But that was my friend!"
"Then you should only date them ever. I would feel bad if you two got broken up"
"That doesnt even make sense, i probably wont ever see him again!"
"Well you can only date guys, because a cheek kiss means you are committed to getting a man, anyways your friend who likes to tell tall tales implied you had a crush on one of his characters and he is very reliable!"
"Varric? Reliable??"
"Well, I dont believe you. Bisexuals dont kiss men on the cheek and get crushes on story men."
"Bisexual means... Screw it. The only threat I see is YOU."

Cullen if he was real, the unrealistic Bisexual...
"I am Bi."
"But there was that girl you had a crush on"
"That was 15 years ago!"
"You crushed! That means after lusting after a woman there is no way you could enjoy a man"
"Nothing happened! I ran away when she flirted with me."
"Ah, but there were feelings so deep you could never deny them."
"Except I did deny them and got tortured for it!"
"Which means you love them so much more!"
"No it doesnt. It means I had a bad relationship that was one sided and almost completely in my head."
"Thats not true. A crush like that means you could never ever like a guy. One sided crush in your head means you are straight for life."
"That...that is not how it works. Oh wait...I am in a fade Nightmare, where else could anyone be this annoying? Begone demon!"

These two annoy me even more than, Kaiden who "fell for femshep and not male shep so straight forever!"
And Anders who talked a lot about girls but not guys. This is weakest reason for being straight instead of Bi.

What does it mean to be "unrealistically" bisexual anyway?

"You can't like dudes! You play the sport-ball like on the teevee!"

I've gotten this one: "You're married to a man, so you must be straight!"

How will these people react if they learn that Cassandra's influence with the main plot is not as much as they believe it will be?  Especially compared to other characters?

Will they feel justified in feeling mislead or betrayed because their romance was the one they didn't really like?

I personally don't give a fig how important she is to the plot. I just like her personality a helluva lot and can't wait to interact with her.

As a straight male, I've always been baffled by bisexuality deniers.

As a woman of varied interests, I've always been baffled by anyone who argues with people over how they self-identify.

"I'm this sexuality right here."

"No you're not."

"I'm sorry, but since when did you get a vote?"

Sorry if I made any of you folks uncomfortable by using the word "queer". In my experience, the only time I've heard it as a slur is when it's used as a noun, and I always use it as an adjective (aka, I always say "Queer people" or "queer foks", NEVER "queers" or "that queer"). I've had "homosexual" used against me far more frequently, and I'd never use it to talk about myself. It's the word my Seventh Day Adventist family loves to say with a sneer.

It's really a shame there's no universal word that all of us like/can agree on. :/ But if "queer" makes you guys uncomfortable, I'll make an effort to avoid it.

It's good to know others find this offensive, since I self-identify as queer.

Oh, I'm not a fan of Cullen. I just like the idea of Anders getting any vaguely likeable anti-mage dude to... switch teams, as it were.

Anders and Sebastian, Anders and Carver, Anders and Keran... hell, all three at once.

Technically, Warden Carver seems to support in the end mages more than templars, as far as I recall. Though it might be more about the particular situations in Kirkwall than becoming pro-mages.

I'm gay as a maypole, and I didn't see anything to indicate that Wade and Herren were even friends. Herren seems to genuinely hate Wade basically all of the time.

Honestly, the fact that a lot of people saw two effete, high-voiced men and immediately went "LOL FAGGOTS" is pretty offensive to me.  :?

The voices actually didn't give me any input on their sexualities. It was their bickering that reminded me of an old married couple.

In DAO was quite easy identify the possible romances, and so in DA2. But with the DAI cast is not that easy, at least in the male department. If you don't consider Cullen, (Cole is just a NO, so I don't consider him) and Dorian/guy ripped from The Order: 1886, almost all the other male aren't the classic "dream guy" we have seen in the other chapter of the game, but are still good looking.

and potentially are all subjects that would be good for a romantic arc (not old like Winnie, not a Golem, or the stereotyped drunken Dwarf.) very hard making a prevision.

Sigh. I hope for news soon.  as much fun is speculate on the romances, I fear to became too much attacched to a determinate character, and than discover is not romancable by my character, or non romancable at all. A little disappointmant that would not be a deal breaker, but surely can put a little of ad taste in the mouth. :(

First, why make both the elves bisexual, if they are LIs?  Secondly, that is the Scribe Girl, aka "Scribbles" as dubbed by the fans.  She hasn't had a name released at all yet, and not even a writer-given nickname like the Bearded Warden did (Mary calls him Feathers.)  She looks nothing like Isabela at all other than perhaps a similar skin tone.   <_<

I'm not sure if it'll happen (expecially in the case of the 2/2/2 route), but a reason for having both elves bisexual could be to offer to everyone a non-human romance.

Ah, thanks for explaining that.  I can understand the reasoning, but I really hope they don't take that route.

Well, I don't think it'll happen in the 2/2/2 case. If there are eight LI, I'm not sure. They could've made both Scribbles and Sera bi, with Cassandra and Vivieenne being the (either one of them) straight/lesbian LI.

i hope that she is not but still i do not sure because of Lelianna and Cullen and Varric back..Gaider love to put his fav characters back and force to us even from death like was with Leliana and Zevran in DA2 what i killed

so before we would know who is she i would call her "Isabella"(some fans call her "Jasmine")

actually i am care more about can my Inquisitor execute him with Lelianna(and Cass) because i wanted this from origins and especially in DA2 and after

Zevran an unfixed glitch.
It doesn't matter what they did with other characters, she can't be Isabela because she's 1)compre lot different, and 2)I wouldn't make sense for her to be a commercial and political advisor.
I doubt Cullen and Leliana will be killable. Cassandra might be, but definitely not at the start.

Don't you love the "wait and see" game? ;)

To be honest I'm perfectly fine with waiting, since I'll be fine no matter the outcome. I hope for those that want to know who the LI will be and the sexualities and they'll release info soon :).

already answered...because they are the only non-humans and we do not have Varric and i am sure we do not have Bull ad LI because some devs are racist especially when it comes for dwarven female li

Isabella in Da2 looks nothing like isabella from Origins and all characters are changed because of frostbite

I'm sticking with my theory of both NPC LIs being the "straight" options for now. I'm probably wrong though. B)
