Exactly, although pro wrestling while it has interesting storylines, most of the women are shown for sex appeal rather than brawn.

The first picture is the same musculature as female Qunari, which means that is natural for human women. Also you showed women with small physiques. There are several women with much larger frames than hers which fits more the concept art of the male Human which is natural for a Giant Race.

Which is why I selected a picture of Trish Stratus, who's one of the most respected and athletic female wrestler's in the history if the medium.

Pictures of wrestlers and those professionally growing their muscles don't really make the point, since they really ARE hitting the protein powder and other assorted required regimens to make their muscles that large. It's probably true that Qunari work out and gain natural muscle for their efforts, but I'm going to guess that it's not going to be the case in the DA world setting that they're stocking up on powders and protein bars. So... yes, males may be larger than the females, but at least don't just make the women slightly muscled humans, you know?

I guess that's a lot like the human/elf pointy ears argument... :?

Still why Qunari males gotta look so bleh tho. Especially when they're females are pretty much tall greyskinned female humans with horns.

It doesn't bother me so much that the men are super beefy. It bothers me that the women are basically an entirely different species, just so they can stay super hot.

I don't really take professional wrestlers seriously as "natural muscle growth". Most of the men are on steroids and the women are just there for titillation almost all of the time. The matches are scripted. It's just a soap opera for dudes.

I don't believe video game characters are designed for "realism", anyway. Iron Bull and a tiny elven girl can, in all likeliness, swing the same weaponry with the same effectiveness.

Professional wrestlers are among the best athletes in the world. While steriods are a plague on the sport, they aren't anywhere near as widespread and common place as most people assume them to be.

Yeah. If the dudes have shoulder/neck spines why not the ladies? And I'm really hoping the game will let you have equal sized horns if you're playing a femqunari.

They always meant to make him look more Qunari. They just ran out of resources to do a totally different model

I know. We used to think qunari were lizard people back in the day. I'm just saying that as it turned out, Sten didn't look like some stranger non-human race.

I mean...do the Qunari have special supplements they give their soldiers or something? What the hell are the men eating to get so big compared to the females?

See I want my femQunari to look like the concept art. I think she looks great.

I'm just baffled as to why the men look so bull like in comparison. Giant can be done without bull. Especially when it has the men look completely different from the females.

Though agreed on them not looking like the same species. Having them side by side like that...

Tangents happen. At least we're still discussing Dragon age instead of the air velocity of a coconut laden swallow.

Hey think that is bad?

Look up the Guardians and the Zamorans from Green lantern.

Same species...WAY different.

In that guardians look like blue troll dolls, and that Zamorans look like human women.

The accusation is that Iron Bull as a LI is more niche than a female qunari would be because female qunari are more conventionally attractive because their sexual dimorphosism is unrealistically skewed.

Well, either way is fine, I guess. They can slim down/humanize the males or bulk up the females. As long as there wasn't a huge double standard there.

I'd just prefer the men weren't roided up monsters, because I really like the Qunari as a concept, but then... their appearance is borderline ew for me.

Most of the figures I've seen in here for Qunari female body types are too small IMO.

Cory Everson,

Looks more solid, Qunari-esque build.

The first pic is a less oiled up/beefed up shot but doesn't seem to be working.

Ah, okay.

They need to trim the males down. The females are perfect.

That's my issue with it.  It is not an issue of "y men so beefy" or "y men gotta be more beefy than wimmenz," it's an issue that the two of them look like completely different species.  This isn't a unique circumstance.  The games industry is prone to making fantasy races where men are huge hulks of hypermasculine power fantasy proportions while the women of the race appear more closer in appearance to pretty, unblemished/scar-less human women of modest tone and curvy figure.  Just with some petite horns, or a little tail, or doe eyes, or some even having pretty women faces while the men have alien faces, etc.  And it's rarely ever that a fantasy race has the woman as the larger, more imposing figure either.  So such things aren't created in a vacuum -- it's done to make the ladies more prettier by a certain demographic's standard.

To keep it related to romance, I suppose, I do wonder what the dude Qunari Inquisitor bodyshape will look like.  If there are kissing scenes with your LI, it will be interesting to see how that is handled this time around.  As well with dwarves and LIs again.

Yeah. Unless we can paint ourselves green and fight barehanded, I don't see much fun in being what the Qunari Male looks like in the concept art.

Yeah the double standard is discouraging. But I'd vastly prefer the males being toned down. Females being buffed up would make me sad but it would be sensible so I couldn't be too sad.

SAME. I was originally gonna play a male qunari then I saw the concept art was still on DA2 lvls of ugh and went NOPE.

You can see the strange trends if you study that picture carefully. For example, there is a very sharp curve to the abdomen. She would look a lot like the male elf in build if the cut of her waist wasn't so sharp.

On an unrelated note, I've never understood how Jacked McSteroids is a relatable power fantasy. But that's my YMMV. I prefer my power fantasy to be slimmer, and more cut than filled with saline.

Pro wrestling is fake, it probably wouldnt be the medium it is if it wasnt fake. That is okay.

On the same side, ...I cant post pictures on mobile

Edit: on mobile so cant post strong women. Anyone want to post Privat Vasquez from aliensto show a variety on muscle mass in women?

Larger frames we have the more capacity to build muscle. A Giant race where the guys are built like body builders Should have women built like body builders, but regardless the muscle mass of Human Male should be the very least she would have due to her mass.

Women have a wide variety of how muscular we can be. Aka my gf rarely works out, her brother does. Do to her having a larger build she can lift more than him. He has a small frame but me who is the middling road can not even pick as much as him.

But, one of my college friends and I used to wrestle he was a fairly small guy and I beat him regularly. Men generally have larger frames, and even at the same frame can build more mass. But usually a woman with a larger frame than the man(which doesnt happen often, but is the case with Qunari) is stronger than him.

What's really confusing, to me, is that the female MMA fighter posted a while back actually has more muscle definition than the female Qunari art. It's not like the Qunari woman even has six pack abs, or anything. All the lines are pretty smooth, she's just a little more solidly built than the average female human in the game.
