What's really confusing, to me, is that the female MMA fighter posted a while back actually has more muscle definition than the female Qunari art. It's not like the Qunari woman even has six pack abs, or anything. All the lines are pretty smooth, she's just a little more solidly built than the average female human in the game.

She's actually less solid, if you look at her abdomen. Proportionally, it's more narrow than the human female. That's how the designers got an hourglass looking figure at her height.

SAME. I was originally gonna play a male qunari then I saw the concept art was still on DA2 lvls of ugh and went NOPE.

I don't think they could have changed a whole lot anyway. Iron Bull's appearance pretty much looks like a remodeling of the DA2 qunari design. They were likely satisfied enough with it and decided not to do another 180 with the qunari appearance.

I'm going to play a male qunari, but I'll be disappointed in the appearance the entire way.

Rock on for both of us \o/ cause I can't do it :( one of my few requirements to playing a male PC is for him to be eyecandy. That's not happening with male Qunari.

True but hope springs eternal and all that. ;)

I've accepted that I just won't find the male qunari aesthetically pleasing, but I managed to get throw TW2 thinking Geralt is ugly as sin so I'll manage. I just hate playing games with protagonists I don't find attractive, male or female. That's goal #1-#8 for the CC.

Yeah, in a lot of ways, she's more feminized than the average human bases. All her curves are very exaggerated. This and the other female concept art I've seen of Qunari women have them way bustier and wider at the hips than human women, which isn't the same sort of bulk the males have, obviously.

Female Qunari and Isabela have almost the same body;

Again, just "curvy", not really muscular;

And yeah same. I will restart after 4 hours if I don't find my PC attractive enough.

I wonder if we'll get any female Qunari "lite" romances.

I'm interested in seeing Dudequisitor's in-game model.  I doubt he will have Iron Bull proportions, and am interested in seeing his proportions in relation to other Qunari in the game.  But the customization options will be interesting to see on both men and women Qunari.  If all the mens' faces are grizzled, scarred, and twisted versions of ferocious, snarling "demon bull," but all the women's faces are makeup'd and sultry and smooth, then, well, that's another telling factor.

I do hope we get something like that customization mirror in DA2, where you could enter chargen again after the intro.  There is nothing more tedious than having to sit through a long, interactive intro to the game, do chargen, and then find out that how your character looks in-game is some unexpected monstrosity you never intended.  Then needing to do it ALL over again just to do the chargen.  I have wasted days of my life on this in BW games, I'm sure.  The Woes of Chargen, a song by Deviija.

I thought Geralt was pretty fugly too but over time I found that he grew on me. Not sure how, I guess I just came to accept him as an overall character. Meanwhile, his appearance in TW3 is even more scary. Thanks, CDPR!

So...how about them romances?

I demand LI comments on the impressive beauty of my Qunari abs.

Edit:

And we talk about NPC romances, but personally I'd like to see a villain/PC romance. It would (1) force Bioware to actually have us interact with a lead villain on multiple occasions; (2) could totally explain the stupid decisions villains often engage in (like sending you enemies only slightly stronger than you instead of just unleashing the Uber Monster of Doom from the start); and (3) make for some hilariously awkward conversations at the endgame.

Villain(ess): Join me, and we shall rule together!  :devil:

PC: I'm not sure I'm ready for that sort of commitment... maybe, we move in first?   :unsure:

Well, either way is fine, I guess. They can slim down/humanize the males or bulk up the females. As long as there wasn't a huge double standard there.

What if we went in a different direction with the females, but kept the move away from conventional attractiveness?

Well, the main problem is that they're very human in comparison to the males. It gives a strong impression that they're meant to titillate. Making them look more like the males by changing one or the other seems like the most obvious/easy choice, but I suppose if they were taken in another direction that the lore explained as to why they looked extremely different than males and didn't seem like a cheap excuse to make them sexy fantasy chicks, it would be an improvement.

That's what I am saying.  Most people seem to be asking for a convergence on the two models.  I'm curious if it'd be interesting if they went in a different direction than the males, but still moved away from human like.  I actually find the concept of dimorphism an interesting one (although I'm more familiar with it happening in insects and whatnot, as opposed to mammals).

I should load up the game and go through chargen proper again.  I am curious what the Qunari looks like (men and women) at this point.  It's been a couple months.

I think this could be interesting, yeah. That they're different isn't really the issue. Sexual dimorphism could be an interesting attribute in a fantasy race, if it were done in a different way.

Can't the differences in body types be explained by the fact that the Qunari practice selective breeding and very gender specific societal roles? All of the male qunari we have seen in the games are part of the military, they would have been chosen for that role b/c of their size / strength.  None of the female roles would require the same muscle structure of the males.  Even being Vashoth, who knows how many generations removed you are supposed to be, a few hundred years of selective breeding would not be overwritten in a few generations.

Miners, construction workers, and blacksmiths aren't muscular? Also wouldn't it be extremely hard to artificially breed for gender specific traits? I mean if you pair up a tiny woman and a muscly dude you don't know he's not going to pass his musclyness to his daughters and she her smallness to her sons.

Plus a few hundred years of selective breeding would be REALLY really really short time for such diverse sexual dimorphism to show up in a species.
