I don't usually romance mages on a first playthrough--not that there's any particular reason why. But I could see myself romancing Viv, easily.
I have a mage-thing myself.

Yes, joking aside, I think there's a lot of fun to be had with a main villain romance. You just need a magnificent bastard type character, as opposed to the usual ax-crazy apocalypse causing loon we usually see in-game.
You could even have a (non-plot magic) capture, with two totally different experiences depending on the romance being triggered or not (e.g. actual dungeon vs. "dungeon").
Yeah.
Ooh you could have so much fun with the Evil Overlord List with that too. Romanced version has the guards must be crazy types. Non romanced have actual competent guards that are dangerous and attack where the PC's weakest.
But god yes the thought of a "dungeon" with the PC being baffled the antagonist is this incompetent has potential for massive hilarity.
Man if there were 4 LIs of each gender I'd be shocked. Happy, but shocked.
Haha, I know, right? All this speculation is taking us PLACES.
But, hope is a good thing according to the latest word on the street...

My money is on Vivienne. I think the possibility of her being a bi option is *very* likely.

God I hope so. *crosses every finger* I want to do a F/F playthrough with her SO BAD.

I want it. I see it as the only way to be as equal in content as possible with the SSSS.

I think Vivienne will be the lesbian companion.
Yeah.

It could be this great mix of deconstruction, massive hilarity, and actual heartwarming if the villain is chillingly competent outside those moments.

It's the only way that I'll play a female, I think. I'll probably start a female playthrough with a lady dwarf and lady qunari just to see how they look and to test out the two voices, but I'm not planning to play all the way through unless Viv is a f/f option, to be honest.
I think Vivienne will be the lesbian companion.

Also, putting aside my personal preference, I would prefer that the companion who happens to be black not also be a lesbian, when the rest of the cast is all-white.

Hey, I used to think she wouldn't be available at all(If there are only 3 LI per gender, I still do) so take what you can get.

Is there anything specific that makes you think so? I got the same impression, but I can't figure out why.

Not really. Just a feeling.

I'll settle for an F/F romance with Viviene, but I'd prefer an M/F one, since I prefer to play Ms in games.

It could! That would be a NPC romance I'd utterly adore.
Also if the villian is completely honest about his/her backstory during the romance that could be a easy way of giving us backstory on the villian without that long reasons I did this speech.
I just hope Vivienne being a LI doesn't take away Sera as a LI. If they do 3, Cassandra is confirmed and Scribbles probably will to balance Cullen leaving Vivienne and Sera for the last slot.
Alistair was a human noble, but he broke off his relationship with women who romanced him with other races if not hardened, or kept them as only a mistress if hardened.
To me, this kind of story is a lot more relevant to Thedas. I just don't see the "gay noble" as different enough from "bi noble" to warrant gating. Not to mention, it's just another "gay angst" story, which I really want to avoid and a lot of other people have also strongly expressed wanting to avoid in this thread. It feels like very few actual LGB people want to see more "gay oppression" stories.
That is why I also give an example about the isolated place. Because if you are for example straight woman and almost all the others are women. Then if there are other women who are about same age as you are then you'll have friends but you can't have a partner because you are straight. But if you would be bisexual then I see that there is a possibility for you to find a partner. What comes to races I would see that straight woman would most likely develop feelings towards man whose race is different than a woman.
Alistair also broke off with you if you happened be human mage so the story wasn't all about races.
Just wondering, if 8 LIs meant cutting content somewhere else, would you guys still be for it? Would you rather have more LIs with less romantic content, or less LIs with more individual content? Would you sacrifice content with non-LIs to develop romances more? Or is 8 LIs just an ideal if it doesn't cut content elsewhere?
Not really. Just a feeling.
Fair enough. Thanks.

Why would it? They will all more than likely be available in some form. It'd just make sense.

Depends on the content being cut, I guess. If it was stuff like "Let me talk about my love life before meeting you", then yes I would without hesitation.
Fair enough. Thanks.
But the fact multiple people get that feeling is interesting.

Well, because there are 4 women and if only 3 are romancable somebody won't be.
I'm sorry but I'd feel really odd if all female companions were LIs. I just...
If there were more than 3 female companions then fine but as it is. Having all of them for romance I just =/
I dislike that in SWTOR. If you have a female companion chances are she's an love interest. I don't even think there's a single exception to this. I don't want that in DA.

I just think it would make sense. Like it wouldn't surprise me at all. Maybe the fourth girl's romance will be less involved/smaller than the other three but she is still available in one form or another.

To be fair, in SWTOR if you had a male companion chances are they were a love interest.
It could! That would be a NPC romance I'd utterly adore.

Since it's a villain, they could also play around with unrequited feelings. After all, this is a megalomaniac who's doing who knows what sort of evil things to basically conquer reality. Dealing poorly with rejection could totally be in character.
So we've established it: Bioware needs to do a villain NPC romance.

That's if you wanna consider Ashara in the SI a romance
