To be fair, in SWTOR if you had a male companion chances are they were a love interest.

No?

Tharan and Lokin are not LIs. Tharan is a one night stand at best and Lokin's not a choice at all. Neither is Zenith.

I just think it would make sense. Like it wouldn't surprise me at all. Maybe the fourth girl's romance will be less involved/smaller than the other three but she is still available in one form or another.

It might make sense but to me at least it'd feel like the females are female so they can be romanced =/

Tharan and Lokin are not LIs.

A couple exceptions does not disprove my statement of "chances are they are romances".

...It does when EVERY female companion is a love interest.

By the way they aren't exceptions. They were the ones off the top of my head.

Rusk, and Xalek are more males that won't romance your PC.

No, I never said that the women weren't always. I just said t that if you get a male companion, probability states he is romancable. So my statement still holds merit.

It seems like people have a hard time believing an attractive companion wont be a romance. Like, I've seen a few people literally say they don't believe the blond rogue in the trailer is Cole, because he looks like he's designed to be a romance. It's interesting. Maybe wishful thinking.

No actually it doesn't.

Spoilers for companions of SWTOR (whoops sorry)

Spoiler

On average there's 3 male companions 1 of them are romances. In 2 classes 1 of them are ONS bumping it up to 2 "romances".

Where's for females the average tends to be 1 or 2. Of those they all tend to be full romances. The only exception is the female robot.

Just wondering, if 8 LIs meant cutting content somewhere else, would you guys still be for it? Would you rather have more LIs with less romantic content, or less LIs with more individual content? Would you sacrifice content with non-LIs to develop romances more? Or is 8 LIs just an ideal if it doesn't cut content elsewhere?

Hmm, well, unfortunately, since I'm only interested in two of the guys, bumping our possible choices from six to eight would actually give my character a better chance of actually finding true love ;) So yeah, I'd have to take that deal, even if it meant losing content elsewhere. The romance is just such a big part of the BioWare narrative for me.

Probably LOL It's an assortment they've offered up to us. When you spot someone who looks even remotely traditionally good-looking, you hope against hope he's one of the six.

Well that depends on the content being sacrificed doesn't it? If the contest was multiplayer I"d make that trade in an instant.

If the trade was also "5 extra months of waiting for daI" I'd also make that trade

I would, too.  :P

But it seems like it's been implied to us that more romances would probably mean either less romance content, or less "friendship" content with non-LIs. And that seems to be what actually happened in ME.

It's an understandable concern. At least if the companions aren't all bi, I can see them maximizing availability by making more options open. But that's a pretty big if...

Yeah, female companions make up ~25% of the companions in SWTOR and well over half of the romances. That means there's a substantial number of male companions who aren't love interests (and a couple of whom I think would have worked out nicely- like Zenith or Gault). If all of the female companions are LIs, and only 2 or 3 of the males are, I would not be surprised.

I also wouldn't be that disappointed, this time around. I really like all of the female companions. Plus, I don't want to imagine the threads that would happen if Sera wasn't an LI but Vivienne was. It could get really, really, really gross.

Well, TOR barely has any female companions to begin with...kind of like DA:I.

Though, I doubt all three females in this game will be an option...I would guess just two, one straight, one bisexual.   Cassandra is one of those and...the second one is up for grabs.

See I'd rather had 4 bi options (2 male 2 females) than any other mix. So yeah XD

I rather we get Scribe Girl as a female LI instead of Vivienne, Sera & Cassandra.

I have a feeling Vivienne isn't going to be an LI. As much as I would love to romance a fab looking lady such as her, I get the feeling she's more of an ambitious type, and less of a romantic. My ideal scenario would to have all three lady companions romance-able, but I don't think they will. I think Scribbles will tag-team with Cullen as NPC LIs. That's assuming it's the 3/3 scenario.

4/4 sounds...like too much. Would be awesome, but that's quite a bit. Half of the total companions. It may be possible, but something would have to give; whether the quality of the romances in general or something else in the game. And honestly, I'd prefer quality > quantity.

I still really hope they do one straight/one gay for both males and females as far as companions go. I understand the doubt that they will, but I hope it happens.

Yeah Zenith would've been fine. But man I really don't want all the female companions to be LIs. I would be disappointed personally.

Though the threads are always gross here. That's something we can't avoid XD

Exactly.

Hopefully scribe girl can take up the 3rd female LI slot.

D: so mean.

I'd rather Vivi be a LI mostly cause I want to see how she'd react to the Inq's flirts. Then again I could probably get that without a romance XD

They've always had a male and female elf LI before, so it would be surprising if they didn't this time. Especially since all the other women are human, so it's not like they could have a Qunari or dwarf instead. I mean, they might do it, but I would be a bit surprised.

So if we're to assume only 2 of the 3 female companions will be available as a full romance, I'm guessing these are the most likely scenarios:

Scenario A:

Cassandra (bi) and Vivienne (either straight or bi)

Scenario B:

Cassandra (bi) and Sera (likely also bi)

Doesn't look like something I'd be too happy with personally, but it's certainly possible all things considered.

Who was the female elf LI for DA:O? I thought it was just Zevran.
