I have only 1 complain: AGAIN, Human and elf female followers ONLY?? And LIs option might very well suffer same fate too: human and elf exclusive. What about dwarf, or Qunari?? Is there something unlovable about them??? Seriously, we have 4 races in Thedas, but they sure didn't take advantage of that.

The only males who have untraditional appearances are the ones we pretty much know won't be romancable: Cole, Iron Bull, and Varric. Meanwhile the traditionally handsome characters Solas, DHMG, and Grey Warden are also expected to be LIs by most.

Cole is pretty traditional looking, imo. I'd say more so than warden. But, otherwise, that's kind of the point. All the non-LIs are non-traditional looking males, at least by general assumption. The point is that it implies they're not willing to design females except to fill traditionally attractive romance slots.

Having one of the six dude companions be another lady would've helped, imo.  Iron Bull as a lady Qunari would be interesting to me.

I agree. They should have made one of the males into a female concept. It's unfortunate that a concept like Iron Bull or the warden never goes to a female equivalent.

It implies nothing except that of the three companions, they stuck with what they did because it fit.

Also, Vivienne has a shaved head. How is that traditional?

I'd love a Qunari and/or Dorf LI.  Of course, we've had 0 lady Dorfs and Qunari companions in the main games (Awakening is not a main game installment), and that's another front that should be remedied.

He think he was getting at her facial features.  They are striking and considered a form of traditional beauty in our world.

As a quick side note, (speaking of lady dwarves) I think it's kind of sad that the devs and writers have forgotten about poor Sigrun.  She was my favorite companion in Awakening, but seems to get little love outside of the fanbase.  Even when they did the "Pick your favorite warden" thing on Twitter recently, her nor Nate was on the list.  Instead they got bumped for..Anders.  Yeah, he isn't exactly who I think of when I think of a proud Warden. <_<

I also know of several posters (including me) that, if romances had been available in Awakening, would have picked Sigrun any day.

The face is only part of an appearance. If we are going to say that someone is traditionally attractive because part of them are, then pretty much everyone is traditionally attractive.

Also it appears that in this thread some people still seem to take their opinion about all women look traditionally attractive as fact. I don't think at all that Cassandra is one of them. Only Sera and scribe girl coud fit that category for me.

I find Cullen, Dmgh, Varric, Cole, traditionally attractive. They are all beautiful. That make four guys. Solas has a beautiful face, it's just that he lacks hair, and people don't seem to care that much.

If Solas is viewed as non-traditionally attractive because he lacks hair, why not Vivienne  ?

I've seen quite a few black female models and celebrities with the buzz cut, especially.

I mean, look at this model;

Buzz-cut-hairstyles-2011-2.jpg

I would think most people would say this model is a beautiful woman. The buzz cut is "edgy" for a woman, but I would hardly say it disqualifies them as essentially still traditionally attractive. It's a striking look, but I don't think it detracts from her appearance. Especially since she isn't totally shaved to shiny baldness, like Solas.

Yeah, Cassandra is attractive but I think most can say she is in an exotic way rather than in a traditional way. Kind of like DHMG. At least, in my opinion.

My guess for the females is either;

Straight - Cassandra

Lesbian - Sera

Bi - Scribbles

Or the less balanced option;

Straight - Cassandra

Bi - Sera

Lesbian - Scribbles

I'm sticking with hoping for 8 LI's. I'm not yet at the stage of hoping others get put shafted & i get choice based on orientation i want(B) and can't countenance not having any companion choice for orientation i want(A)

I'm not saying you can't find these people attractive individually. I'm not saying traditional beauty standards are my personal preferences. I don't favor traditional beauty standards for males, which I find overly masculine, and I have no preference for females. Beauty standards in media are very real, though.

I don't believe a dwarf can inherently match traditional beauty standards because of their body types. Solas isn't non-traditionally attractive because he's bald, it's also because he has a lanky body type and almost pasty looking pale skin. He usually looks tired and stressed. I actually am attracted to less muscular men, but that's not what's the standard body type for "attractive men" in media. Being skinny isn't accepted as traditionally attractive for a man. Cullen, Cole and DHMG, I agree with. Some people have taken aversion to DHMG's mustache, but I think it's generally like Vivienne's hair. He's like 99% traditionally attractive, I don't think this is enough for a disqualification.

Vivienne is different than Solas, imo, because she has a perfect body and strikingly beautiful facial features. She has her Maleficent hat on in literally every marketing photo we've seen, so it's not like you can even much tell she has the buzz cut.

I've had posters argue with me that her hair was buzzed, until I showed them the artwork.  Even then, a couple still refused to believe she had a shaved head.  /sigh

Sera is very beautiful by traditional norms. Tho I still hope she is not LI. I am sick of bi-sex-obsessed-careless-rogues. Zevran was fun, Isabella was... Okay. But three games in a row? Please no
Maybe she is a lesbian. That would be interesting
Or maybe Vivienne is a bisexual/lesbian female LI and not Sera

I'm getting a little sick of elves being the token "non-human" romances for BioWare games as well.  Like how about the two full blooded elven ladies as well as the half elf from BG2.  Also, the lady elven druid from NWN2 (sorry for not linking names, but I should be in bed right now.)  Then throw in Zevran, Fenris and Merrill and the trend is just growing from there.

Yet, so far, no dwarven LIs.  <sigh>

I loved Isabela but i don't want Sera to be a clone of her. However don't see why if she's a bi-available character that would necessarily mean she is sex obsessed. Personally i'd prefer her to be bi-available as that would mean everyone would have access to an elven female romance.

I've read her description in the leaked survey
Too similar to both Zevran and Isabella. In general idea, but still

I finally caught up....wow that was alot of reading, and side stepping from the thread.

I would romance Sigrun as well. Anders?! To freaking whiney, mage this, mage that.

Happy Chee day to you all! :)

Vivienne vs Sera, honestly know more of Vivienne than Sera, but Sera is an elf, I agree there is too many bi elves and dont need another. :) though there are plenty in those camps that came off as not bi or gay.

I actually feel like Sera's sexuality could be quite reserved.  Her young, bratty, frenetic, "rob from the rich to keep for herself" description reads as child-like to me and she lives in the underbelly of her city, a place where I imagine she can trust very few people and her competition might leap at the opportunity to remove her she ever slipped up.  Intimacy and vulnerability often go hand in hand and I think she lives in a situation where she could lose a lot if she exposed herself in that way to the wrong person (lol, I meant that more emotionally but it works both ways :P).
