Yeah, if had to guess, I'd say:

Cassandra - mid-late 30's

Varric - mid-late 30's

Vivienne - early-mid 30's

Solas - not really sure at this point

Sera - early-mid 20's

Iron Bull - mid 30's

Bearded Warden - early-mid 40's

Dorian/DHMG - early-mid 30's

Cole - not really sure how to even think about his age, given his story

Cullen - mid-late 30's

Leliana - mid-late 30's

Scribe Girl - not really sure since we don't know enough about her.

In general, an older crew and I like it!

Varric is 39 in 9:40 technically.

True. Not to mention that this time we a group of highly important and influental people. For them all to be young adults is simply illogical

Oh, goodness, I remember the stubborn belief of so many that the Exile from KotoR II could have been a general in the war as a teenager, so that way their PC wouldn't be "old" in the actual game. I get people want to relate to their avatar on the screen, but that? That was stretching it beyond bounds.

The inquisition group is supposed to be put together of experienced people, right? I've got no problem with the majority of them actually being old enough to be experienced in their roles. My character is not me, so she won't have any problem being older/younger and seeking out an appropriate love interest in that range. ;)

I still remember people complaining that Shepard was 30 years old at the start of Mass Effect 1.

Cause apparently that is to old to relate to for some people.

Heh, reminds me of when my Exile was flirting with Mira and she turned him down because, among other things he was "too old" for her :D

I love that RPGs are finally having older characters. For so long, it seemed like almost every RPG was Japanese and I had to play a teenager. It was fine twenty years ago when I WAS a teenager, but I'm happy to see that RPG protagonists have aged alongside me!

And here I found it slightly disturbing that Shepard was becoming the butt of "getting old" jokes a mere three yers later!

So anyone else predicting Love Interest Wars?

Like what happened between Fenris/Anders?

Cause that was just funny.

"NO YOU ARE WRONG MY LI IS THE MOST AWESOME AND PERFECT AND ATTRACTIVE SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP!"

I wonder if it is like something that people take someone NOT liking their chosen LI the best as an attack.

Cause whenever someone posted about liking one LI people seemed to counter post like they said they hated another LI.

I wonder if any LI can even potentially compete with Cassandra

I kind of thik Vivienne might surprise them all

Not sure bout Sera or Scribbles

Bethesda's games usually do a pretty good job of allowing you to role play a character of any age without it conflicting with the story.  The downside is that the characters are really pretty much blanks slates with no background.  I think it's difficult to give a character a backstory, like Bioware does, and still allow a 20 year age range.  It starts to get in the way of the story for me a bit.

There were questions about our age earlier in the dev cycle, and the dev response we had at the time was between mid 20s to late... 30s? There was quite a bit of an age range around this time, though that may have changed as the game developed.

<catches up on the thread>

Ah, I see folks are concerned about LI ages again.

Spoiler

Mr. Depp here just turned 50 and I still hear teenage/20s something men and women swoon all the time over him.  Is he automatically too old?

As far as the Inquisitor's age, I heard the range was from 19-37 years old.

Edit: I know the show Supernatural is pretty big right now.  The actor that plays Sam is 32 and the one that plays Dean just turned 35.

Lol what. Well at least I can headcanon that mine is early 20. 30 is too old for me, she'd be close to 40 then in the end omg.

Not really. If I recall, between ME and the start of ME3 there are roughly 3 years, wih 2 passed while being rebuild by Cerberus (which likely rebuilt Shep as he/she was two years ago).

*cough* I'm 41 in a couple of weeks, I'm in no way, shape or form...old.  Also remember that grey hair is not really a good indicator of age since some people go grey very very early, I don't have any at all.  I remember being 20 and thinking "**** man, 40 is sooooo old", now I'm here I realise how silly a thing that was to say.  The life one leads can impact their appearance too, Feathers is a GW, I'd expect him to look grizzled... :)

I was watching this old TV show from the 70s called Emergency.   The 40 year olds back then looked 60.

As time changes....health and attitudes change. Today...the majority of people in their 40s do NOT look like what 40+ year old people looked in the 70s. People in their 40s, 50s, and 60s actually look younger now than they did in the 70s

Admittedly, I have only skimmed through here, as it's a LARGE topic, but I felt like chiming in :P. As a gay person myself, I do not feel entitled to have any same-sex relationships in a game, and any that are there feel like a wonderful bonus, and a sort of nod to social progress. Personally I'd rather just have a big group of epic female companions and my gay dude running around blasting things. In DA:O I rarely used Oghren or Sten, not because I didn't like their characters, which I must say, were great, but once I had seen everyone's story unfold I began to form a connection to certain people. I was more drawn towards the battle ready females, ie: Lel and Morrigan, because I related to them being overlooked by some because they seemed to not fit a certain expectation. And for me, I can see Vivienne being a person I am HIGHLY likely to be using for the simple fact that I relate to her, any other companions I am drawn to will then be that much more rewarding to warm up to. In truth, yes I would love to have a same-sex romance, and it would make me happy, but I don't feel like it's a necessity, if I want to experience a romance, I'll roll a chick Inquisitor and romance a guy that way. I'd be happy though if we do get a gay LI for him to be a little less...intense ( :P ) than Zevran was lol That said my first Inquisitor is destined to be a female qunari mage.

Started talking about how old potential LIs were in DAI.  Compared to how old the Inquisitor would be.

It spiraled from there :P

It's nice that the companions are little bit older. It would also be nice that some of them would behave as mature people as well. What I mean by that is that they would have more confidence like Duncan for example. I think Duncan would have been great LI. He was so calm.

Honestly, not really. I mean, the body type is about right. He still seemed about the same age as all the other guys, but maybe it's just because he had that really, really deep voice. I think it could have been throwing me off with him.

I have been told I have a deep voice and have received comments on it since I was 19, so take that have you will (and when I was 19 I was also very slender to boot).

We don't really know what jobs males could have. But there's plenty that haven't been assigned a gender yet that don't require buffness. Scribes, entertainers, musicians. Not letting the muscled females breed wouldn't make sense since they have so many active jobs like miners, construction workers, farmers, blacksmiths ect. And again even if you don't let weak males or buff females breed, there's still no way to really prevent the buff males from having buff daughters or small ladies from having small sons.

Man we don't even know how long the qunari race has been around. Theories are they're something else merged with dragons (although considering dragons have a sexual dimorphism that makes the females much bigger, you'd think that would mean qunari ladies would be the bigger ones)

Yeah we are really off topic though.

The sexual dimorphism with the qunari could really be a telling sign of how they were before the Qun. It would point to a great deal of competing for mates. Perhaps even that could be one reason for the philosophy of the Qun--control the chaos kinda thing--and the selective breeding practices completely eliminates any vying for mates between the males. Maybe the vying got to such a point that it could almost destroy them as a whole.

That said, I'd prefer they just tone down Iron Bull's build a bit.

What I'm really wondering abt tho, is if you roll a male qunari PC, or a male dwarf PC is there gonna be sum npc female qunari/dwarf at the Keep somewhere for an opiton?

Or, would that point to there being no race restrictions on the romances?

Hopefully there aren't any race restrictions on the romances. I think gender is too much of a limit already.

They keep saying over and over again that it's only a "small part" of the game. By the time you put race restrictions in, you've spent more effort on gating the content than you did on actually making the content.

Plus, then you get a situation where people have to play multiple characters just to find a combination that can romance anybody at all, never mind finding the specific combination that unlocks the character they actually want. And I'm not going to do that. Contrary to popular forum opinion, I do in fact have a life.

I think the dimorphism is just the character artists going with the usual dudes as big and brawny while women aren't. Look at the old republic where the big human male is about twice the size of the big human female.
