Man why is it always the males with kids. Why can't the female LIs have had any?

Always asked myself. Seems in almost every Bioware game the female PC is always sterile.

Because then, they are stuck changing nappies and in the kitchen. No time to be a bad arsed protag. And the idea of a baby wrapped on your back flat on your armor while fighting demons just feels either totally wrong kinda awesome.

you should tell that to Caterina Sforza.

edit: by the way, war ends. I'd like a less badass ending for some of my characters. Life isn't only fight.

Because straight male PC are ultra-alpha and thus can't be bothered with someone else's children, but female PC are maternal and thus it's okay to force them with some child they don't want.

CAUSE NOTHING SHOULD GET IN THE WAY OF MAH STRAIGHT MALE PC'S ROMANCE, OTHERS CAN EAT DIRT THOUGH.

:?

XD

That's how it feels at times.

What females aren't allowed to be absentee parents leaving the kids with their parents? That's what the males do.

I don't mind that so much but we have had male LIs who had children (Carth, Sky, Thane) but I can't think of a single female one with a child that wasn't the PCs.

Well, there was Samara (a kind-of LI).  I can't think of any other female LI's with kids (or even a dead spouse, come to think of it).

Having a LI with children doesn't mean that she can't go adventuring. Other than the fact that the children might be raised by some other family members (like the father), it's not necessary that the children are kids. They can be older, like in Wynne and Samara's case.

There is Samara, sort of.

I think it's mostly a question of age.  Older men are seen as more attractive than older women.

Also various other unpleasant reflections on society that I can't be bothered to find a good way to phrase,

I thought Jack just dated that guy, not married him.  Though it's true that what happened was similar in theme.

Yeah, to take it even a step further, her husband was a party member in BG1. He gets brutally tortured to death at the beginning of 2. The next day I was complementing her braids. I'm such a dick.

Wouldn't that be an awesome conversation to have? "Is there anyone else?" "I had a husband/wife, now they are dead and I need you to help me get over them with the magic of love and romance." Bonus points if you admit having to kill your significant other. That hasn't been uncommon, and why anyone thinks I am going to romance anyone that admits to killing their beloved I will never know.

If our PC can up to 40 in age, I'd expect at some point there was a relationship or romance or even just a handful of bastards running around from brothel girls. Not likely that can be mentioned or explored in the game, and even less likely the average person playing would care about it. Interesting thought anyway.

In games i do not know, but men usually hit their peak later than women. In the looks department that is, but then again everything has its exception. I am actually kinda psyched that the LI's in DA:I will be abit older, in their 30 - 40s fully evolved beeings.

Speaking of Baldur's Gate, how freaking awesome are the epilogues? Here's the epilogue for the Viconia romance:

"Viconia and <CHARNAME> continued their adventuring careers for several years, gaining considerable fame after being drawn into central roles in two wars that rocked the Sword Coast. <CHARNAME>'s standing in the Realms grew considerably over time, his dark maiden always at his side. Eventually, Viconia became pregnant with <CHARNAME>'s child, an event that caused much argument and strife between the couple, resulting briefly in their seperation. The birth of <CHARNAME>'s son, however, would change Viconia forever. She would return to <CHARNAME> and convince him to settle finally in Baldur's Gate, dedicating herself utterly to raising their son and teaching him the ways of the drow as well as the ways of <CHARNAME>'s people and marvelling at the power the boy already was demonstrating.

Though she delighted at the understanding in her son's eyes, she would not live to see him grow. Viconia was a powerful priestess and all but immune to common poisons, but the venom of the Spider Queen's vengeance was not easily resisted and her reach is far. Poisoned by a servant of the goddess Lolth, <CHARNAME> railed in rage as even the most powerful magics proved ineffective in curing his ailing wife. Viconia's last words were whispered to <CHARNAME>, in private, before she finally succumbed and are unknown...but the tale is well-told of how <CHARNAME> held the body of his dark maiden close to him and wept, while the entire city wept with him, suffering a loss of something precious that they never even truly knew they had. The furious <CHARNAME> left Baldur's Gate and raised his son in secret far away.

Tales vary of him, some saying he began a crusade against the drow in the Underdark, some claiming he became a hero in the far-off northlands...and some even saying with surety that <CHARNAME> had waged war against Lolth herself in the abyssal Demonweb Pits...but all agreeing that the former son of Bhaal had been changed forever by his love for the dark maiden. As for the son, tutored by two of the most potent beings in the Realms? He would go on to forge a legend that would rival that of his father. That, however, is a different story..."

I mean really, holy ****. I'd really hope BW would be able to pull off something like the LI being killed with this type of skill so that it didn't provoke the wrath of the romance army.

same here. Maybe this time there will be some mature not overly emotional male to romance. I liked Alistair, but it would be refreshing something different.

The game was over at that point. At no point should the character ever feel in control over anything beyond themselves. If they kill of an LI and you can't stop, it too bad.

Shes probably the best LI ever written and the hardest to romance.
