I guess I would like all kind of romances unless my PC's LI would cheat/die or my PC would die or they'll have to separate forever for some reason.

I don't even see when Bioware marketed DAI as Deadmac stated, or how the fanbase made it seem the the game is about homosexual lovers or something like that. Not to mention that in the romance discussions there are plently of straight guys and girls posting.
Honestly, as a straight male Deadmac'a posts seem ridicolous.

That looks like a good movie. For some reason I thought that movie was something similar like Conan the Barbarian :D I remember that I once tried to watch Conan the Barbarian but I had to stop because I didn't like it at all.

I love Conan the Barbarian lol.

But yeah, they're not really alike, LotM is based on the novel from 1826 by James Fenimore Cooper. Set in America during the French-Indian war. The film also probably has one of the best scores of all time.

It would be cool if an LI could develop feelings for you based on choices you made (starting out as admiration and then turning in to a crush), regardless if you pursued them or not. I like that in Origins Leliana would flirt with you even if you hadn't initiated it.

All in all, I am always pleased with Bioware's romances so I'm really excited.  ^_^

Unfortunately, the histrionics around Anders' flirting in DA 2 has led them to state that they will never have an LI initiate the flirts.  Which is a shame, really.

Eh I prefer that. Companions coming onto my PC out of nowhere can be really offputting at times.

I don't mind it.  I just mind it when it's just straight women over and over.  It felt like every other conversation, my poor Shep was dodging ladies.  If it was just a few characters and it was mixed up between men and women, I'd fine with it.

I think most of the issue was, he flirted on the straight guys who did not like it one bit.
I think its cute they come on to the pc.

You hit the nail on the head. As one of the developers had said, the fanbase had caused the hype to revolve around homosexuality. "Dragon Age: Inquisition's" advertising should be based upon game mechanics, skills, character customization, storytelling, etc... During the course of the past year, the main theme behind interviews and fan raves have revolved around homosexuality. While I have no problem with the inclusion of gay characters, I wish the hype focused on other game aspects.

Vocal fans, some of those in this thread, have managed to hijack the game's hype.

"Dragon Age: Inquisition" is either a dark fantasy roleplaying game, or its a story about a group of homosexual lovers. Romance is a welcomed aspect of BioWare games. I love BioWare's style of storytelling. I am a massive fan. On the other hand, the alternative romances should not overshadow everythigng else.

It was more related to the rivarly points gained by turning him down, I think. Zevran flirts with the player without player input and I didn't see much complaint.
I didn't really care about both, and I'm straight.

I agree. The +10 Rivalry I think it was for saying "I'm not interested" was more the problem than anything else.

It would be nice that some of the potential LIs would initiate flirting but not all. I think it would be frustrating if every potential LI would start flirting with you and I think that not all LIs are flirtatious.

sigh. a pity. I liked it. I think the only "bad" thing was that there where two way of flirting back or only being very agressive. Letting him down gently, as you could with Zevran would have been better.

To be honest I think It's just Anders. I found him coming on to my character just minutes after he killed his ex-lover and showed that he was possessed by a demon really creepy. Talk about wrong time, wrong place. The fact that you have to flirt back or react aggressively is also irritating, and makes no sense if you want to go on to romance Fenris.

In all my subsequent playthroughs I've just deliberately avoided that scene altogether.

The Anders rejection scene bothers me for a different reason. What Hawke says and the way he looks at Anders comes across as borderline homophobic, which makes me really uncomfortable since it's the only way you can reject him if you pick the diplomatic lines before hand.

You can avoid the rivalry points, though.  In fact, you can leave that conversation with +5 friendship points and still not be in a relationship with him.

I agree. For example I can see Sera or Viv initiate flirting, or Dorian (depends on their sexuality) but i don't think Cass is someone who would do this.

Yeah it's not much better to me when it's dudes. Just means there's more people to dodge now >_>

(god in ME2 having to reject Jack and Tali in a row was annoying.)

I wasn't that fond of Zev either but he at least could be told to knock it off almost immediately. Even if I took a ~10 point approval hit.

Without flirting? Never knew that.
As I said it doesn't matter to me though. And DA2 offered a great quantity of F/R points anyway.

That requires meta-knowledge or trial and error though.

When I first played through blind my Hawke got really angry, which was completely out of character. And I picked what appeared to be the most diplomatic rejection.

Maybe, but 4 of my straight friends did not like the flirting bit at at all. And actually found the riv points funny. I dont think they're homophobic as we've got 3 gays and 1 bi in our circle of friends.

Not at all. It just requires not constantly hitting the diplo option. Snarky Hawke and Aggressive Hawke completely avoid those lines.

Though yeah the sudden rage mode is a bit off.

The Anders flirting thing was so awkward and felt out of place in the moment. The initial come-on wasn't a problem, but not having a nice and polite way to say "no, thanks, we just sort of met" was annoying. The way the scene plays out, followed by the rivalry points if you turn him down came across a bit like "fine! I tried to be nice to you and you reject me! You're bad!" Had that enough in real life, guess I wasn't surprised to see it in a game...

What really creeped me out  was the river of blood comment he made when we really, really weren't that friendly or close. Made him sound like he'd be a clingy, jealous partner that would end up stalking me.

Mind you, I could appreciate the character for who and what he was, creepy behavior and weird lines and all. And it does not make me wish to never have another companion flirt with me first. I just want the option to be tactful and not hated for it.
