Cool, i'll check it out. Thanks!

I wasn't defending any of the anti-LGBT parade, just giving a possible reason why some may think that it's going to be more prevalent than it probably will be in game. As s/s fan art far outnumbers any other fan art on these boards.

I know. I was just pointing out that the last page had 2 heterosexual fanarts: A sweet one with Scribbles and a Qunari Inquisitor, aand a steamy one with Cassandra and a Human Inquisitor.

Speaking of; is it just me, or did that version of the human inquisitor look strangely like Sebastian?

Let's make something clear here. YOU think it's been overemphasized. Some of us believe it has not been emphasized enough. And it's funny how when people like us challenge the status quo, in this case heterosexual majority romances, people like you are the first to cry foul.

Let's make something clear here. I KNOW its overemphasized. Until BioWare releases more about the game, I think the problem will continue to exist.

Look at yourselves for a moment. While many of you get your news from the forums, you caused yourselves to look at the game through a narrow lens.

David Gaider and BioWare 'has' released more articles about the romance options than any other game feature.

...but, it was the fanbase that drove it to the foreground.

Yes, but do your "feelings" require either calling him, or thing of him as a creep? Projecting nefarious motives, hostility and other such things upon him?

Being rude is unnecessary. I can think whatever I like. :D
I'd suggest that thinking every person who turns you down thinks you are nefarious is a problem on your end!

Because whether that was the intent or not, that's exactly what it does.

Just because you thought you were being charming, doesn't mean I am not allowed to have a different perspective on your behavior - including being creeped out.
If I respond negatively, do not get defensive. Be humble, admit you made a mistake, and learn from it for the next time you approach a woman.

If you paid attention to my posts, you would have noticed that a BioWare representative responded. According to his personal perspective, the fans are driving the homosexual storytelling to the foreground. As I have been saying all along, I have no problem with the homosexual aspects of "Dragon Age". What I have a problem with is that the hype is too focused on the romance options. In order to participate within the thread, I also contributed with what type of romance I wanted to see.

I never once said, "remove the homosexual elements from the game".

I am happy for people who discovered their identity.

As a result of being attacked for having a preference, I used a dramatic way to get my point across.

Some of you guys are overly projecting the importance of relationships (homosexuality specifically); therefore, I am asking BioWare to shift the overall hype onto other game mechanics.

From my personal perspective, some of you attacked me for being a hetrosexual. rofl...

While I want to participate with the subject, I also understand that we are overemphasising its importance.

I have gone back and re-read every post that responded to yours.  I have not seen a single instance where someone has attacked you for being heterosexual.  I have seen people "attack" you for your words about homosexuality.  I have seen people "attack" you for misrepresenting how Bioware has marketed the game.  I have seen people "attack" you for suggesting that heterosexuality was being marginalized in a game where we have, literally, no indication that such a thing is happening.  But I have not seen anyone "attack" you for being heterosexual.  Can you please provide these examples (plural, since you've indicated plural attackers)?

*Note, I'm using "attack", but what I really mean is hold you accountable for your words.  I'm assuming that you are viewing these as attacks.

Sources please?  I'm tired of you using hyperbole to make your points.  Cold, hard facts is what my logical brain requires.  Please link me to all of these "articles about romance options" that Bioware has released.  I am not aware of a single article from Bioware that is specifically about romance and nothing else.  I can't wait to read all about the romance features......

Are you lazy? Google it.

...that's the laziest non answer I've ever seen. Google WHAT? The only romance info we have is a handful of tweets mostly about sex sexualities and the PAX thing where they said Cassandra and Cullen were romances (and we don't even know if they're bi or o/s exclusive).

How is he lazy because he doesn't want to google for something that doesn't exist? The only articles I can remember is one vague as hell GameInformer article. Gaider does discuss it quite a bit, but he's allowed to talk about whatever he wants on his personal twitter and tumblr.

Got it.  So no examples.  Look it's not on me to disprove you.  It's on you to prove your points.  You've been in here spouting off hyperbole and exaggerations and I finally asked you to provide concrete examples and you come back with, "do it yourself".  You know what that tells me?  That there aren't examples and you are hoping that by putting it on me, you can somehow save face.  Well, guess what?  I want you to provide the examples that you brought up.

Okay! Let's move hastily AWAY from ninety percent of the current debates and start talking about romances....

So. I was thinking...about pacing and timing of the romances.

Do you want something you can control the pace of? (Origins, for the most part, could be triggered fairly early/after their quest) Or more bound to game-progression like DA2? Or a mix?

I wonder how the flow will be...thoughts?

I like the idea of a mix of both.  Realistically some of the romance would be reactive content in response to storyline/events.  But personal conversations shouldn't be tied down.

Hmmm I do like to have SOME control of the pace-- mostly because I like dragging it all out for as long as possible. :) I wouldn't mind some casual flirting/friendship development before we get to a point of actually beginning the romance. Worst case would be exhausting the romantic content/pathways only halfway through the game and then having nothing left to talk to my LI about! So I guess having at least some of the progression linked to the plot is a good thing, yeah. :)

I'd prefer to not be able to blow through all relevant romance content in the first 30 minutes of play :D
I liked the pacing in DA2, but I can appreciate having control over that yourself, too. Either method of pacing is something I can adjust to.

I liked being able to speak to my companions whenever, but the plot/home triggered dialogue only at their house in DA2 could have been executed better but I didn't mind it. It seems they're going the same route in Inquisition, if the gameplay vid I saw was any indication.

I REALLY hope they let us do the "you can kiss your LI anytime you want" thing that DAO did, but this time with any gender/orientation. So maybe I want to flaunt my gay love in public to all of Thedas, so what? ;) I'm the Maker-damned Inquisitor, I can do what I want!

Here's an honorary like for getting this steered back on topic.

images-3.jpeg

Anyway, I just started ME2 for the first time after finishing ME1 earlier last week.  So far, I'm liking the system of gating affection for the companions via quests.  If they could do something more nuanced, then that would work for me.  I have noticed that, so far, having the affection of my companions in ME2 gated more by quest makes their personal quests have a little extra oomph for me.  That's even without the LI; I choose Liara in ME1 and I'm going to remain faithful.  In life and in video games, I've never been the type to screw around if I'm in a relationship.  ;)

So, I suppose a mix of the two for my adventures in Thedas would be welcome, for both LIs and platonic relationships.

I'd like to be able to control the flow of the romance like in DA: O.  I really liked being able to talk to the companions whenever I pleased, instead of by quest trigger a couple times each act.  It allowed for roleplay versatility too.  Where one character may prefer a faster paced romance, another may feel more comfortable waiting awhile until s/he knows the person better.

Yeah I had to mod that and it was pretty silly you could kiss Morrigan and Alistair anywhere but not Leliana and Zevran. If anything wouldn't they more inclined to publicly show affection than Morrigan?

I'd definitely like a faster pace than in DA2. Isabela propositions Hawke the night they meet; they finally hook up three years later? I would have liked the option to take her up on that offer at some point during act one.

"According to Mike Laidlaw, as in Dragon Age: Origins, the Inquisitor will be able to speak to companions as desired, though not necessarily in every location"

Taken from the wikia as an answer to a tweet. I could see a mix between DA:O and DA2 working perfectly to be honest, so really what i am hoping for.

Ohhhh goodness, yes. I ALMOST want hugs even more. If our companions are even half as emotionally messed up as our DA2 companions were, then there's gonna be lots of need for hugs.

And an option to completely gross out the rest of the companions by calling each other sickeningly sweet names and doing eskimo kisses just to troll them.

Not from my perspective. I will just leave it on that note.

What marketing materials have you even seen for Dragon Age: Inquisition?  Which ones, specifically, point out the focus on alternative lifestyle?

I think perhaps you're overstating my interactions with the fanbase?  Because one of the primary reasons I linger in those threads is because they are notorious for turning into heated battles.

If you're not feeling included as a heterosexual gamer, this could be because you're so used to being exclusively focused on that any focus that isn't catered to you seems like a loss of attention.

Jade Empire had a 3some which was hard to pull off.

Well, there's DAO's foursome....

I'm not sure if getting the threesome is a particularly compelling measurement for "romance difficulty" (I haven't considered any of the romances particularly difficult, though I would say BG2's were the "most" difficult)
