I can't agree with that, because Justice is the way he is because of Anders. The one thing I give Anders props for is that he accepts responsibility for this, but he's the one who turned Justice into a monster, not the other way around.

Either way, neither of them are who they used to be. Justice should've gone back to the fade. He grew attached to this realm when he shouldn't have. When he started wanting what Kristoff had with his wife, that should be the first indication he was already changing. Spirits are not supposed to have any desires, Justice makes that clear during banter. Likely being in Kristoff's body and having access to his memories is what started the change initially. Going into a living host just made things a whole lot messier. They were both stupid. It was a horrible idea, despite the good intentions I'm sure Anders had.

Justice's fate is tragic... And retcon. Poor spirit was too pure and naive to handle the messy and complicated world of mortalsI can't agree with that, because Justice is the way he is because of Anders. Meh, while I agree that it's Anders that corrupted Justice, and that he shouldn't have Agreed on the merging, I already found Justice bit too extremistic in DAA.
I think they both corrupted each other. Anders with his anger, Justice with his single-mindedness and self-righteousness.
I like Aveline, she's very human and well written and feels like a real friend to Hawke, but god if she irks me at times. She can come off as incompetent and preachy. One time comes to my mind, in Act 3, when she gets mad at Hawke if she chews out the former captain of the guard instead of letting her talk. Hawke had been doing all the work from the beginning, she didn't deserve that bullshit. And she was unprofessional with Donnic, when she assigned him safer patrols on purpose. But overall, she was actually trying to do something good and watched Hawke's back till the end.
I was surprised I liked Isabela's friendly romance the most. I was furious when she left with the tome, but then she came back and I couldn't give them to the qunari. She's hilarious, self-aware and wiser than she might appear on the surface. She's selfish at times, but given her background I can't blame her and Hawke can have a big influence on her (and it doesn't feel forced). I loved the dialogue after killing Castillon (paraphrased): "Damn Hawke, now I can't get my ship! (Awkward pause) That was the best thing to do wasn't it? (sigh) I hate it when you're right."
But the thing I liked the most about Isabela's romance is that they felt like equals. Merril, Anders and Fenris seemed passive and dependent in a relationship (don't get me started on how unhealthy Anders romance is to me), Isabela felt like a peer, independent and wild but caring and supportive.
Why do I end up posting walls of text every time I should be studying?

One of the things I love about Bioware's characters is that they are generally very well-rounded. They all have good points, and they all have flaws. It means that there are people with different opinions on almost all the characters and I love that. I'm really interested to find out more about the new companions, and which of them will be available as romances. There aren't any potential companions I'm unhappy with at this stage ![]()

Except Petrice. She has no good points. Although, I do agree about the companions. I end up loving all of them. However, in Origins I wasn't nearly as attached to them. In that regard, I find DA2 infinitely superior. There are plenty of characters that have no good points. Need a few characters like that in a morally complex story; someone people can focus their anger on. What Bioware's good at is keeping those people on both sides of the various conflicts.

I thought that Petrice was by far the best antagonist in Dragon Age 2. She was pretty much the only antagonist in the entire game whose motivations went beyond being batshit crazy.
As for the companions... they could have been better than origins, if we actually got to speak to them more than four or five times. It was impossible to see Varric as my best bud the storyteller when he never once actually told my character a story. The groundwork was there, but there just wasn't enough interaction for me to enjoy them as much as Origins companions, even if the character concepts themselves were more engaging.

For me it was a welcome change from needy and highly strung companions to companions who are there because I needed them. And they all just led interesting lives before you met them. That alone makes me want to get to know them better. Except for Morrigan who's got her own agenda. And she's extreemly interesting to me too.
