Old faces too
Long haired Merrill is unf!
I still hope to see Velanna again, and hopefully looks like that lol

Cool bunch of elves!
Speaking of old characters reappearing, I am fully expecting the majority of them to look wildly different this time around (though not necessarily to the point of being unrecognizable) thanks to the brand new engine. It's pretty obvious that Frostbite renders characters more differently than any other engine BW has used in the past. And I'm totally okay with that!
Cassandra Pentaghast
so excited. Definitely hoping to romance her as a dwarven male inquisitor. Gonna be the best love interest since Tali'zorah, imo.
Speaking of previous love interests, Leliana and Fenris were my LI choices for female protagonists in the previous two games. I have this head-canon of Leliana converting my dwarven noble warden to Andrastianism (resulting in the aid of Brother Burkel to build an Orzammar Chantry). For my first playthrough in DA2 I went with Isabela, but she just doesn't seem as interested in a committed relationship as Fenris was. Anders lies to you and then blows up the chantry, and Merril's a blood mage summoning demons to help her fix a killer mirror. Sebastian loses it if you let Anders live even if it's to help the Templars. Fenris really seemed the best and most level-headed option to me.
Also, I don't see the issue people had with playersexual romances… it just seemed to add more options for everyone to get a relationship they liked. At least, it seemed to me it worked well enough in DA2.

I'm a little scared about seeing again the old characters. Morrigan has "aged" well from and engine to the other, but I still remeber poor Zevran and Alistair in DA2...those two are in the departmant of "things I can't unseee"

I can't agree with that, because Justice is the way he is because of Anders. The one thing I give Anders props for is that he accepts responsibility for this, but he's the one who turned Justice into a monster, not the other way around.
Justice is just as much to blame. PLEASE Click on link to look at dialogue screenshot. ![]()
They are BOTH responsible for corrupting each other. It was NOT just Anders.

I'd rather not derail the topic further.
But on the other hand, I do have a compulsive need to debate.
Anders is the one who allowed himself to be possessed by Justice. I don't allow drunk drivers who kill people to put the blame on the booze because they were too stupid to call for a cab. I'm especially not going to extend that consideration when the booze in question is saying things like Justice is saying there.
Anders should have known better. Justice's outlook is overly simplistic due to his ignorance of the way the world works. Anders doesn't have such an excuse.
Anyway, seeing as how Velanna's shown up here in artwork, I think I'll bring back the companions romancing other companions subtopic and say that I always thought Velanna and Nathanial would make a good couple.
Nah, I always shipped Nate and Anders. Velanna was too mean lol
Well, that obviously didn't happen.
Unless that theory I had about the "Anders" from DA2 actually being a mentally deranged hobo named Crazy Steve who assumed Anders identity in Kirkwall while the real Anders and Justice remained behind in Vigil's Keep turns out to be true. That would be nice.
But still, Nate/Velanna.

I'm really hoping to see Zevran,Fenris and Merril again...Despite that I like them a lot as characters and I want to learn more about what they've been up to, I'm also really curious about how my favourite elves will look with the Frostbite engine.

Leliana (from the brief glimpse we've seen), Varric and Cassandra look great too in the new engine. I'm hoping that Zevran and Alistair won't look like their faces are melting.

Bah, I can dream!
Yea I think Nate and Velanna most likely would become a couple if Velanna stays with the Grey Wardens

We'll just have to agree to disagree. Justice is not this nice innocent spirit that people think he is. Yes what Anders did was wrong....but he is only half responsible.
I pretty much disliked Velanna. I liked Sigrun and Nate's dialogue better. Thought they were cute. Velanna was too annoying for me. I enjoyed all my Dalish Warden runthroughs but she just grated on me.
Well, I sorta killed Velanna… so she's definitely not with Nate in my playthrough, lol.

Lol, that's definitely one way to end that ship.
Yeah, no kidding, Velanna was crushed by rubble in my game. I wouldn't surprised if she pulled an Anders and escaped though.
I like Velanna. She changes her views on certain issues because of her interaction with the warden (if you befriend her), and the amount of character development she makes in Awakening is rather impressive, imo. But I am not sure about the Velanna/Nate pairing...I didn't use Nathaniel much (Oghren, Velanna and Sigrun were my main companions).
Nah, I always shipped Nate and Anders. Velanna was too mean lol
Agreed. Although, I'd rather see Nate with just about anyone rather than Velanna. UGH.
I kinda shipped Nate and Bethany Warden- I figure if my character couldn't have him, her sweet and beautiful sis could.
I shipped Velanna/Nathaniel too... I liked both characters. they can potentially evolve a lot during Awakening. more than most of all the others DA characters, I think.

Indeed, they were surprisingly complex for DLC characters. Granted, you could play through the whole expansion without even talking to any of them. But that would be missing out.

of course, But so can be said for Leliana (that I didn't even recruit at my first run) or others DAO characters. you can potentially talk just one or two times with them, and miss their dialogue too.
for companions that you can have for relatively few hours (compared to DAO) Velanna and Nathaniel can evolve a lot. If I can make a comparison, maybe as much as Zevran.
On the not-so-bright side, I can actually see them shafting certain companions in favor of others (in terms of content and/or dialogue), especially when we have 9 of them. I would love to be wrong, though. That was one thing I DIDN'T like about the Mass Effect games.
