I like Velanna. She changes her views on certain issues because of her interaction with the warden (if you befriend her), and the amount of character development she makes in Awakening is rather impressive, imo. But I am not sure about the Velanna/Nate pairing...I didn't use Nathaniel much (Oghren, Velanna and Sigrun were my main companions).

 

Nathaniel thinks she's attractive and tries in a kind of endearingly awkward way to make headway with that, e.g. refer to her as "my lady".

Well sadly the only thing she belongs to in my canon run is the trees.

As fertilizer.

 

Cause she is dead.

Rather easy to start a fight against her really.

Whenever I see full-body character designs on white/transparent backgrounds, in (combat) poses, I tend to think Fire Emblem or Suikoden.  Though now I am thinking of a Fire Emblem-esque Dragon Age game and I am rather enamored with the idea.

I didn't take it as trolling; Nate sounded rather genuine to me. It did get her flustered and off balance, but that seemed because she was just in shock about someone being honestly polite and respectful to her.

That was probably the joke. I've done it myself to people who are dead set on being rude, and while on the surface I am all polite and nice deep down I'm laughing my ass off.

I suppose I've argued too much about Sten trolling Morrigan with his whole "you'll need a pry bar" speech to dismiss the concept entirely.

 

Still, I rather like the idea of Nate being genuine and he and Velanna becoming a couple.

I doubt anything like that would ever happen, Velanna is too much of a elven supremacist to ever be romantic or sexual with a human.

You get her approval up high enough, she really eases up on the whole elven supremacy thing.

The exchange below does not read as trolling to me, and it didn't sound like trolling when I heard it in game:

I will say that she does have a point here though. Even if she was very irritating, I don't think I have ever really hated companion. She was pretty wise once you got past her insults.

Yep. Justice was a problem almost immediately. I don't even want to recruit him in playthroughs anymore, the same as Anders. They both suck. Even without merging.

 

Agreed.

 

And Anders has plenty of a nasty attitude problem if you dare disagree with him in Awakening too. He just hides it with his jokes better.
